In “The Man I Killed,” Tim O’Brien portrays a vivid story on how war affects individuals. Tim, Azar, and Kiowa are all at the Vietnam war in 1990 together fighting. Tim killed a man with a grenade and he feels deeply upset about the matter, while Azar shows no sympathy for the dead man whatsoever. Kiowa is the neutral man of the situation, trying to comfort and justify the death of the man because it was Tim’s job to protect his men. The story is told from the perspective of the protagonist, while O’Brien uses a sufficient amount of imagery throughout the reading to show the amount of guilt he has obtained from killing a man.

but you just have to do whats right and hope for the best. Throughout this play John was a great example for real life instances. All of us have lied and done things we shouldn’t do but John overcame his old self and became a better person. He was cruel and mean and he didn’t care if he was involved or not. All that he cared about was himself.

He believed in doing the right thing and he was willing to fight for it. During the witch-hunts that affected us all, John tried with every ounce of strength he had to stop the court from going along with Abigail’s manipulations and lies, and in the process confessed to the court the truth of his lechery to make it known that Abigail was just pretending. He knew that his reputation would be ruined, but he knew that it had to be done to save the innocent people accused of trafficking with the devil. I don’t know how many other people would do the same and be able to risk their own reputations knowing that they would no longer be looked at as a respectable person. Some people doubt whether or not John is in heaven.

For example if he runs into someone he knows from the past they won’t be suspicious of him because he doesn’t look the same as they remember. But John’s magic tricks did not start at Vietnam, it started while back while his father was still alive. “He spends his lonely childhood practicing magic tricks and discovers that he can retreat behind the magic mirrors in his mind and deny both his father's death and his rage at that death”(Trudy Bush). These mirrors were essential for his life. In addition to their purpose they also symbolized the safe times he use to have, quite possibly his life would have gone so much worse or so much better. These mirrors in his head serve to retreat him from the struggles in his life.

The best character (The crucible) John proctor was the most admirable character in the play because he sacrifices himself for his for his children, also he was a good husband and because he was much known in the town he had a lot of problems and also a lot of things to do like, takes care of his children and a ranch that he has. In act 4 the author wrote “Because I lie and sign myself to lie! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang” (page1232) Act4. That John mean in this seen is that he was regretful about lying, and because, of him a lot of people was hang he apprehend that lying is not good and he needed to pay for his act .

In Oedipus the King, author Sophocles reveals how Oedipus ultimately dooms himself during his quest to learn the truth about his past. Director Steven Spielberg visually depicts actor Tom Cruise in a fight against the system he helped create, combating the truth which he cannot fathom. Many of the key motifs observed throughout both stories, an example being the tussle between sight and blindness.
