Indirect pulp treatment is the procedure where the carious tissue is removed and a thin layer of caries is left at the deepest sites of the cavity preparation. In the cavity preparation complete caries removal would result in pulp exposure.1 It is important that the lateral walls of the cavity preparation are caries-free for interfacial seal and adequate control of microleakage.1 Indications for indirect pulp capping procedure are on a tooth with no pulpitis or with reversible pulpitis where a thin layer of dentine is left behind to prevent iatrogenic pulpal exposure.2 Reversible pulpitis is associated with discomfort and pain on stimulus such as sweet or cold. The duration of the pain is short. Causes of discomfort may be due to dentinal sensitivity, caries or deep restoration. Dentinal sensitivity is not an inflammatory …show more content…
MTA is composed of tricalcium oxide, tricalcium silicate, dicalcium silicate and tricalcium aluminate. It also contains bismuth oxide for the radiopaque properties. There are two types of MTA which are the grey and the white. The difference between the two is the content of iron, aluminium and magnesium oxides. There is less or total absence of the oxides in the white MTA. MTA is biocompatible, antibacterial, aids in the release of bioactive dentin matrix proteins. In addition, it induces tissue regeneration and mineralization, has superior marginal adaptation and sealing ability, and does not react with other dental materials. The disadvantages of MTA is high solubility, the presence of iron in the grey formulation may discolour the tooth and prolonged setting time.3 The setting time ranges from 2 hours and 20 minutes to 2 hours and 55 minutes.8 Since MTA is hydrophilic, it requires moisture to set which improves the flexural strength of the set cement. MTA in clinical areas include root end filling after apicoectomy, and internal/external root
History: Hank Harum ( Case # 7755) was first seen by Firgrove Veterinary Hospital on October 24, 2012. He was a stray feline brought in for an annual exam and vaccines by his owners. He weighed roughly 8 pounds. The doctor suggested to do an FIV test on Hank since he was a stray neighborhood feline for many years.

A little rate of the populace is hypersensitive to amalgam and there is likewise prove that it might assume a part in oral lichen planus, a by and large generous and moderately unprecedented turmoil. In my practice, I utilize tooth shaded fillings called composite sap for a large portion of my patients since I think it is prevalent from multiple points of view, however regardless I utilize amalgam every so often. A study in the April 2006 version of the Journal of the American Medical Association demonstrated that amalgam fillings had no negative effect on kids (http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/short/295/15/1784). Truth be told, despite everything I have amalgam fillings in my own mouth, and can guarantee you that I rest soundly around evening
The methacrylate based, light cured, unfilled resin is perfect for filling small voids in the restoration. It gives the restoration a great seal which prevents any future leakage or failure. Before placing Permaseal, the restoration must be etched using the same phosphoric acid used earlier. After placing a thin layer, it is polymerized using the curing light and finally polished. The other two occlusal preps were similarly restored.
While many interior fillings are rectified through a metal alloy filling, patients prefer the composite as it is a white color. Dentists prefer the composite as the very strong plastic resin is nearly unbreakable. A good dentist, like Lennox Lin,
Activity 1 Increasing extracellular K+ reduces the net diffusion of K+ out of the neuron through the K+ leak channels because it caused to decrease in the concentration gradient. Increasing extracellular K+ causes the membrane potential to change to a less negative value because extracellular K+ is increasing, which it will cause intracellular K+ to be less. A change in extracellular Na+ did not alter the membrane potential in the resting neuron because there are a lot of K+ leak channels than Na+ leak channels The relative permeability of the membrane to Na+ and K+ in a resting neuron is that Na+ leak channel is less, but K+ leak channels has more so the membrane become less permeable to Na+.
According to biological dentists and those researchers before them, a root canal cannot be fully sterilized and therefore always remains infected.14 For starters, the gutta percha used as a sealant shrinks as it dries. Bacteria can then escape from the tooth. The periodontal ligament, the shock absorber between the tooth and jawbone, becomes a breeding ground for these harmful bacteria. When pressure in the form of biting, chewing or grinding is applied to the tooth, bacteria and their toxins can squirt out into the lymph system and bloodstream and travel to other parts of the body and create or exacerbate disease and illness.15 Over 150 different types of bacteria have been discovered which can make root canaled teeth their
Dental assistants’ contribution to the doctor is to allow for efficient dental treatment by preparing the patient for the procedure, sterilizing instruments, passing instruments during the procedure, holding suction devices, exposing dental radiographs, taking impressions, and fabricating provisional crowns. Along with crowns, Rt1 Dental offers veneers which are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your smile. Many people are skeptical about other procedures like cavities and root canals. During these procedures, pain is thought to be the leading dynamic because of the injections. The assistants and Dr. Trakhtman know of various techniques to help lessen the pain
This is a procedure completed to replace damaged and lost teeth which result from trauma, malformations, and genetic disorders. It went on to discuss regenerative medicine and the types of cells and methods used for this procedure. The document went on to discuss the how the method of tooth regeneration came into being. Also, periodontitis and pulpitis were also discussed. I hope the information will bring about more awareness of the topic.
Due to these reasons, much importance is given to chemical cleaning and disinfection of canals as opposed to thorough mechanical shaping of the canals. The pathway of progression of the infection and the ecology of infecting microorganisms are different in the deciduous dentition as compared to the permanent dentition.5 Hence, for complete elimination of infection irrigation is an important step for the success of pulpectomy.3 Studies have demonstrated that despite the use of antimicrobial agents, microorganisms such as Enterococcus faecalis, Prevotella intermedia and Porphyromonas gingivalis persists in the root canal of the primary teeth. Therefore, an ideal irrigating solution should provide mechanical flushing, be bactericidal, and dissolve the remnants of the organic tissue without damaging the periodontium. It must be biocompatible and nontoxic both locally and
If treatment for ECC is delayed, the difficulty in treatment and the cost effectiveness increases. The most common immediate consequence of untreated dental caries is dental pain affecting their eating, talking, playing and sleeping. Children having ECC are at greater risk of developing more caries in their primary and permanent dentition. Severe ECC can deteriorate the child’s anterior esthetics at an early age. Subsequently, the child may suffer from difficulties involving speech articulation as these initial years are critical for speech development.

Gingival recession is an apical shift of the gingival margin with exposure of the root surface to the oral cavity. Gingival recession may be present in healthy gingival sulcus with normal interdental crestal bone levels or it may occur in an ailing periodontium with alveolar bone loss. Patients often visit the dentist for treatment of gingival recession due to aesthetic reasons. Other glitches faced by the patients are hypersensitivity due to exposed roots and root abrasion or caries. The definitive objective of a root coverage technique is complete coverage of the recession defect with the gingival tissues in good appearance and harmony with the adjacent tissues after healing.
This procedure was adopted by Whittaker and Bakri.11 The translucency of dentin as noted in the ground section is due to an increase in intratubular mineralization. This increase in mineralization has same refractive index as that of peritubular dentin giving translucent appearance within dentin. This translucency is first noted in the apical part of the tooth because of lesser diameter of dentinal tubules in the root dentin compared to the coronal part. Also lesser number of dentinal tubules are noted per unit area in apical part.14,15 The increase in translucency is generally considered as a physiological change with aging process as proved by Azaz et al 21 in his study of impacted canines.
Most people might experience soreness at first during the initial placement of complete dentures and it might take them some time to get used to it. Immediate dentures and conventional dentures are the two types of complete dentures. Immediate dentures are made in advance and are placed right after your teeth are extracted. Your dentist will first take measurements and models of your jaw and teeth during the first visit to make the immediate dentures. One advantage of immediate dentures is that you don't have to go without teeth during the healing period (which can usually take up to six months).
