In the book Old School by Tobias Wolff there are examples of where Tobias is a not so innocent boy. He is often times a trouble-maker and very rowdy. However, there is a passage in the book the hints at otherwise. Deep down Tobias is more innocent than his antics lead on.

As stated on page 2 “ It was bad enough having an invalid brother, but having one who possibly was not all there was unbearable, so I began to make my plans to kill him by smothering him with a pillow”. Clearly, in this sentence, it shows that the narrator would rather have no brother at all than having one that is crippled.

In the book, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Jeannette talks about her life growing up, along with the struggles and memories. In the article, “Why Losing Control Can Make You Happier” by Raj Raghunathan, his perspective is that being overly controlling can make you unhappy. I know this because the article says, “Being overly controlling of outcomes like being overly controlling of others also lowers happiness. ”(Raghunathan 2). Jeannette’s perspective of order and chaos is not like other people, her perspective is normal to her, she's used to it.

The story of a soldiers and his team out on a mission and only one survives. In the book “Lone Survivor” by Marcus Luttrell, Gulad is a hero becuase showed that he could persevere, be unselfish, and that he has determination. Gulad is the thirty-three year old son of the village elder and resident police chief. One of the reasons that Gulab is a hero is because he displayed unselfishness. ( Lutterell 337).

Marcus, a main character in the book Little Brother, was near the bay bridge in San Francisco when it was blown up by terrorists. He was blamed for it by the DHS (Department of Homeland Security). Due to the bombing, the city was put under heavy watch by the DHS and everyone was treated as a potential terrorist, especially Marcus. Throughout the book, Marcus fought against the DHS for the rights to privacy of himself and the civilians of San Francisco.

A breeze picks up as Santiago asks the wind for help. The wind argues that Santiago differs too much from it but Santiago contends that he desires to reach all corners of the world just like the wind. The wind understands but doesn’t know what to do. Santiago tells the wind that love can empower it to do anything. The wind feels like Santiago demeans what it already knows how to do.
