“For unity in the Saint Thomas More Community, elect Alaina Robinson as Junior Class President”, I asserted, apprehensive of my fate as a future class representative. My role in the Student Government Association as Junior Class President (JCP) has been one of the most meaningful pledges during my scholastic years. I was afforded the opportunity to demonstrate my innate strengths as a critical thinker, exemplify the integrity necessary to effectively collaborate with others, and illuminate my untapped leadership abilities.

Furthermore, I will assist with the planning of the study abroad programs. Lastly, I will manage social programs that foster global interconnectedness.
12. An important part of Housing & Residence Life 's mission is to create "inclusive, welcoming communities." Briefly, explain what an "inclusive, welcoming community" looks like to you in the context of a Residence Hall. What steps would you take to create that kind of community in your Residence Hall? (500 words max)
Housing and Residence Life is a shining beacon of inclusivity. Its light casts an eminent reminder upon its distinct mission. As an RA, I would commit myself to perpetuating HRL’s welcoming culture of inclusivity. “Making housing a home” is the cornerstone of residential living- U.Va. Resident Advisor Facebook page. Hallmates should feel individually and collectively empowered. A residential hall should nurture personal development, initiate social/cultural enrichment, and foster intellectual inquiry. In turn, residents from every walk of life should feel included among other student
Conventional wisdom has it that society has been taught to be accepting and kind to the people around them, kindness can vary among social groups due to different backgrounds, ethnicity, and learned prejudices. It can be trialing for someone experiencing hyper-diversity to be affable and work towards social justice for minority groups, while doing this, they in turn, express a sense of integrity. All throughout the book Outcast United written by Warren St. John, the author writes about and capitalises a few of Bethel College values such as diversity, community, and service. As Outcasts United began to unfold, one can noted many values that endorse those of Bethel College, St. John amplifies certain ones. The most prevalent value is diversity,
From it all, we learn that the relationship between success and happiness are tied to community, opportunity & practice, and communication. A sense of belonging is an important human necessity
“Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.” Ronald Reagan once made this statement and its meaning resonates with me personally. When he made this statement he recognized conflict’s inevitability and the need to have the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully. This reality is what drives me to pursue my Master’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in United Nations and Global Policy Studies. With the rise of globalization it is becoming increasingly important for the US to have representatives who are able to successfully interact with individuals from other countries.

I also believe that my time as a student ambassador on the LSUA campus and as a nursing student in clinical has allow me to gain the experience that I need in the leadership role. These are all qualities that I hope to bring with me if I am granted membership.
Re: Letter of Recommendation for Joshua Whiting To The RA Selection Committee: I write on behalf of Joshua Whiting’s application for a Resident Assistant position. I believe Josh to be an exemplary student-scholar as well as a person of tremendous character with significant leadership skills. I met Josh in my first semester of college in our biology class. We were both Biochemistry majors so we got to skip Biology 1 and therefore were both new to this new world of college but already in a group full of sophomores and students who had been in college for multiple semesters. Naturally we gravitated to each other due to this aspect we had in common.
Habitat for Humanities is a wonderful program. It helps many achieve the American Dream of homeownership. The families must qualify and be able to afford to pay the mortgage and this is accomplished by not adding interest to the home mortgage payments. The program also helps rebuild neighborhoods and the economy as the homeowners will be than paying taxes.
As mentioned in the information meeting, AA’s are independently responsible for large clusters or groups of residents. Compared to the average RA who could have as little as one wing to his or herself, this is a much larger responsibility. Being the only Reslife staff member for a group of people that large demands and would help further develop communication skills, observational skills, and overall responsibility; all of which are valuable traits for life after college. Secondly, the living environment provided by the AA position would in itself be another lesson in life skills. Being in an apartment means I would be cooking for myself more rather than depending solely on a meal plan.
Holding an RHA position requires a plethora of skills in leadership, personal balance, academic balance, professional balance, and communication. Currently I am seeking a future in the Resident Assistant (RA) positon which will allow me to learn and utilize these skills when providing conflict resolution and creating relationships within my hall. In order to get a better understanding of many different aspects that go into being an RA, I interviewed a current RA named Bayleigh____ and asked her about the several different factors that relate to her personal life and the job itself. She explained her position and how it directly affected her life as a student as well as the personal challenges she faced regularly. The interview provided me with
Resident Assistants serve many purposes and play many roles in the community. They help to build and promote a supportive and active community within their residence hall and across the campus, and offer support and guidance to their residents. This aids in making Geneseo feel more like home and a community rather than simply a school. RAs enforce Geneseo and Department of Student Life rules, while also being a more easily accessible and less intimidating resource to other students in need of help. I want to be an RA so that I can become more involved in the Geneseo community in a positive way, by helping and representing other students.
The first great-war shattered the human mind so profound that out of its aftermaths’ emerged a fresh discipline (in 1919 at the University of Whales known to us as International Relations) proposed to prevent war. “It was deemed by the scholars that the study of International Politics shall find the root cause of the worlds political problems and put forward solutions to help politicians solve them” (Baylis 2014:03). International Relations happened to play the role of a ‘correcting-mechanism’ restoring the world order of peace and amity by efforting at its best to maintain the worlds’ status quo. However with the emergence of a second world war much more massive that the first put at stake all the values of that young discipline of IR. The
As a community college student (soon to be graduate), I feel that I have gained a new perspective on what personal growth means. Like any student with a passion for a greater future, I believe in taking every experience and opportunity from community college in order to prepare me for the next level in my education. Throughout my two years of receiving hard earned grades and becoming involved in community service projects (through Phi Theta Kappa) I realized the importance of community building and setting goals. I am proud to be the Co-President of Phi Theta Kappa and to have achieved a 3.8 GPA for my last semester. My 3.8 GPA lead me to a well-deserved position on the Deans’ List, and I am positive that Rutgers University will provide me the tools that will lead me to success.
For the future, the Growth Analysis section will analyze the comparison of how Residence Life grew over the semester. To complete the report,
Papathanasiou et al. (2014, p. 407) outline authentic leadership as the ability to influence the actions and behaviour of individuals to work together to achieve their goals. Additionally, Goffee and Jones (2005, p. 87) describe authentic leadership as a real thing, an attribute that uniquely defines great leaders. Furthermore, they highlight that authentic leaders are highly attuned to their environment and that whilst they retain their distinctiveness they understand how to strongly influence and win acceptance in strong cultures and how to utilise those cultures as a basis for radical change. President Kennedy also displayed attributes of an effective transformational leader in a time of crisis and sought to inspire and encourage the population to develop and achieve their greatest potential.
