They saw her name in a newspaper and did some research and found out more about her. She was forgotten for 60 years. So the Kansas girls made a trip overdown to Warsaw, Poland using money from selling candy bars. They found out a lot about her and the things she did. Irena Sendler and what she did in World War II to begin, Irena joined the force called the Zogota. They saved 2,500 children by smuggling them and saving them from ghettos and Poland. herself saved 400 children. The Germans were on to her and her activities so they arrested her and tortured her but she wouldn't say anything to them.
