The story of Bernhardt “Bernie” Tiede is well known for its realistic and entertaining motion picture. This adaptation depicts the impression of a warm, caring man who the community wouldn’t believe partook in the murder of an elderly woman. It is not the question if Bernie committed the act, rather than “did he plan it?” I believe this crime was not premeditated, but was done in the “heat of the moment”.

The film Miracle portrays one of the most significant moments in U.S Olympics history. The thought of a group of college hockey players beating the “lab-made” Russians was almost inconceivable at the time. Although this sporting achievement was immense, the political significance of the Americans beating the Russians was far more significant. Following World War II, Eastern and Western nations faced geopolitical tensions, and eventually, entered into the Cold War. While the U.S and Russia never fired a shot during the Cold War, the tension between the two nations was ever-present.

Rumour has it, the reasoning of Allan killing John Smith is because when he was a child he was molested by a priest.
The story of The Haunting of Hill House is a horror classic. The book and movie depict this terrifying story in vastly different ways. The movie uses cinematic techniques that a book can not portray: music, acting, and props. The book uses imagery, internal monologue, and suspense to peak fear in the readers. Movies are a different way of portraying a story, but movies aren’t always able to depict everything in the book.

Bad Day at Black Rock Kathryn Abbott October 29 2015 DRAMA 3030 The unexpected arrival of a stranger to a small, Midwestern town creates a feeling of scepticism and suspicion, and through this the explicit meaning is revealed: Fear of the unknown and the moral and physical deterioration of a town left to its own devices. The film exemplifies these concepts through the use of mise-en-scène, and vivid cinematographic elements. The blood red coloured train stands out against a muted background.

O Brother Where Art Thou? is a film that will take you on a perilous journey with Ulysses Everett McGill and his simpleminded cohorts. This film may be set amidst the early 1930’s Great Depression era, but it still has a Homer’s Odyssey feel to it. Down in the dusty and highly racial south, Everett recruits a couple of dimwitted convicts, Pete Hogwallop and Delmar O’Donnell, to help him retrieve his lost treasure and make it back home before his wife marries another suitor.
Barry Levinson’s 1997 film, Wag The Dog, demonstrates to what length the government will go to in order to be reelected, even if it means war, through mockery. This film does not hold back when it comes to ridiculing key figures and groups. The director expresses his view by using a representative of the president, a Hollywood producer and a spin doctor to expose the tactics used by governments, and influential organisations. Levinson targets especially the government and mocks the steps members of the government are willing to take to win an election. In addition, the media is gone because it is contaminated easily as Wellers Hollywood's extravagant ways.
Baz Luhrmann’s films are known their ability to make a watcher feel as if they are part of the show. Between his use of camera angles, shots and the use of a narrator, it’s no wonder he is able to keep viewers on the edge of their seat. But how does Baz Luhrmann pull off this spectacular feat of his? This is probably explained best by referring to Baz Luhrmann’s films and how he himself has evolved as a director.
