Little JonBenét was found dead on Christmas day 1996 in a basement where her father John Ramsey found her corpse. JonBenet’s neck has been strangled along with injuries on her skull. There is no doubt that not only was she murdered and strangled but also molested. What truly has occurred on that day and year was a tragedy and a misunderstanding of what has happened to this little girl is still unsolved until there is more evidence. The murderer of JonBenet could have been anyone yet the fingers were only pointed at the family. Because there were only 4 family members in the house minus a dead daughter the only ones left were John Ramsey the father, Patsy Ramsey, who is her mother and JonBenet’s brother Burke Ramsey. Here is the interesting part many people do not comprehend when John Ramsey discovered his daughter's body why is it that he went downstairs and automatically knew she was there? …show more content…
Ramsey and Fleet White, who is a friend of the Ramsey’s to search around the house. It is ironic that it took detective Arndt to tell them to search for anything suspicious or weird for all of a sudden her body to turn up quickly once Mr. Ramsey went directly towards the basement which raises a lot of red flags. There is one error that the detective did which was allowed Mr. Ramsey to find his daughter's body and also touch which is witnessed as a crime scene and tamper with the evidence. Under a number of circumstances of identifying who murdered this little girl remains a mystery because DNA at the time is not accurate especially with how DNA has advanced throughout the years. Though in 2008 it was discovered on Jon Benet’s underwear from an unidentified male until this day has not been found. Suspects started to finally be unraveled yet none have matched. This case not only brings confusion, but many unanswered questions along with
New DNA could lead to more clues in the investigation, Biography stated this, “In July 2008, new "touch DNA" technology seemed to exonerate all members of JonBenét’s family in the 1996 killing,” ("JonBenét Ramsey"). With the new technology, we have today DNA can be taken and tested in a couple days of a crime, it is also very reliable. Not to mention all the pressure put on the parents of the family, finding DNA other than their families was a relief. The DNA found led police away from the family, CNN Library stated,“Early suspicion fell on her parents, but they were exonerated after DNA at the scene was found to belong to a male unrelated to the Ramsey family,” ("JonBenet Ramsey"). Since the DNA did not match to any of the family members, they now have to find who actually committed the crime.
JonBenet was the six-year-old daughter of Pasty and John Ramsey (Saferstein, 2015). This family, including JonBenet’s nine year old brother Burke, lived in Boulder, Colorado and sometime during December 25-26, 1996, JonBenet was murdered most likely inside the home (Saferstein, 2015). Pasty Ramsey maintains after a party with friends and family she put JonBenet to
Jonbenet Ramsey’s body was found on December 26, 1996. Her family was essentially the American Dream. Jonbenet was a toddler beauty queen; she was following in the steps of her mother (Patsy Ramsey) who was Miss West Virginia in 1977. Her father (John Ramsey) was President and Chief Executive Officer of Access Graphics, they were pretty rich. Jonbenet also had a brother named Burke Ramsey who was nine at the time of the murder, and who now lives in Charlevoix, MI.
JonBenét Ramsey, a six-year-old beauty queen daughter of Patsy Ramsey and John Ramsey found murdered in her home on December 26, 1998. This murder has yet to be solved, and as the years go by, the case seems to get colder and colder. As a result, there have been many conspiracy theories in this case. Many people have started to believe that an intruder murdered her, but what if it was someone in the house? Maybe someone very familiar with this home.
The note was written by someone who claimed to have kidnapped their daughter. Since it was the day after Christmas, Bolder Police Force was understaffed. The mistakes that these police officers made is the main reason why JonBenet’s murder is unsolved. Law enforcement and friends drifted in and out of the home all day. John Ramsey says Linda Arndt, one of the main detectives, told him to search the home from top to bottom to see if there was anything suspicious.
Semen was found in JonBenet’s underwear and it was said that it was from the father or even 9-year-old Burke. When Patsy called 911 to report a missing persons report for JonBenet, there were voices heard in the background of the phone call found by in. A deep voice, believed to be the voice of John Ramsey, says, “We’re not speaking to you.” Patsy is then heard asking, “What did you do?! Help me, Jesus!”
Nobody knows exactly what is true and what is not. In 2006 John Mark Karr was arrested after confessing to the murder of Ramsey, however, fingerprints did not match samples that were found. The police that discovered the body of Ramsey later on spoke that the parents of the victim were suspicious and didn't seem to react how you would think. This led to a family theory that Patsy Ramsey, mother of the little girl, accidentally killed JonBenet in a fit of rage after a bed-wetting
She dialed 911 immediately. When police arrived, they found no evidence of forced entry and no JonBenet. Hours later police asked Mr.Ramsey to search the house. That is when Jhon Ramsey found his daughter dead in a room in the basement. Twenty years later the case of JonBenet Ramsey is still unsloved.
The police investigation began instantly as a child abduction case, but soon took a turn for the worse when Jonbenet’s father, John Ramsey found her dead in the basement of her own house. “She was lying on the cold cement floor of the wine cellar with blood and bruises on her head, and a cord around her neck” (Agrawal). Immediately the child abduction case turned into that of a cold blooded murder. “The police should have done a better job controlling the crime scene from the begining” (Adams). With John Ramsey picking up his daughter’s dead body, and family friends walking around the house all morning, the chances of finding any evidence within the house was diminished.
With these suspects interrogated and their stories checked the Ramsey couple are still at the top of this list. Out of the eight suspects, only one confessed to this horrendous crime has been made by John Karr; John admitted to killing JonBenet in August of 2006 but after authorities carefully reviewed where he was the day of and surrounding the murder they realized it was unlikely he had done it because he was in Alabama at the time (Worthen). With the Ramseys being the lead suspects in 1998 Boulder county convened a grand jury to see if an indictment could be supported by the evidence at the time(Puffer-Rothenberg). It took this jury a year to come to a conclusion, within this time frame another jury voted to indict the Ramseys for their “alleged” involvement in their daughter's murder, however, D.A Alex Hunter decided not to file charges even though this jury's verdict was guilty(Worthen). After this the 1998 jury concluded that no charges could be filed based off of the evidence at hand (Puffer-Rothenberg).
Who killed JonBenet Ramsey? Even nineteen years later and police still do not know the answer to the question. Throughout the case concerning the murder of JonBenet there were many suspects and reasons to why someone would kill the young beauty queen. Although the crime scene was unintentionally tampered with and not handled the way that it was supposed to be, a lot of the evidence led back to one suspect only. Patsy Ramsey, was thought to be the killer under the circumstances and evidence found.
JonBenet Ramsey who was a young loving beauty queen of Colorado, who’s live was taken way too early. JonBenet was murdered in her home in Boulder Colorado on December 26, 1996 at the age of six. After completing my research, I was able to make a prediction of who I believed murdered the incent child, and it did not take much research to see the mistakes made by the Boulder Police Department. The Boulder Police Department made numerous mistakes in the JonBenet Ramsey case.
Based on the research I have conducted, JonBenet Ramsey may have died as the result of an accident. The staging of the kidnapping and murder were over the top in a very theatrical way. The ransom note was two and a half pages long, written on a notepad with a felt tip marker, both found within the residence (Ross, 2013). The handwritten note would have taken an extraordinary period of time to write, an intruder just having committed a murder would not have taken the time nor the risk to dwell within the residence risking being discovered for that amount of time. A handwriting examination displayed similarities in the ransom letter penmanship and Patsy Ramsey’s penmanship.
Along with the dead body left in the Ramseys basement there was a mysterious note left by the killer of Jonbenet. The note that was left shows that only either the Ramseys or someone close to their family could have done the crime (Osbourne 42). In the note it states Mr. Ramsey’s financial status, demanding $118,00 from the Ramseys. Investigators have been trying to link specific evidence to the note such as fingerprints and writing samples but no results are coming up.
For over 20 years, millions of Americans have been following the twisted and unsolved murder of six-year old beauty contestant JonBenet Ramsey. Christmas of 1996 brought terror to Boulder, Colorado as the world watched the crime scene unfold as Little Miss Colorado was found strangled in the basement of her family’s home. Pieces from the brutal murder such as a lengthy ransom note are unheard of, leaving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shocked. Two decades later, the case remains a mystery due to police mishap, mishandled evidence, and an abundance of conspiracy theories. Suspicions have ranged from her parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, to the outrageous, Santa Claus.
