First, I am going to begin this journal entry on my experience from taking this class (Church Renewal and Evangelism). I have mentioned in my book review of my take away feelings about this class. One of the requirements in the assignments for the class was a group project. Personally, I never find it warming to work in a class group project, for the simple reason that one or two persons believe it should be about them and not the group. Having this concept and feeling about the class group project, I was not in class on the day when the groups were selected. Upon receiving an email from one of the classmates (Sophia), looking over the names of the two groups I began to wonder who put the groups together. Returning to class the following week, …show more content…
What I was expecting of a group project first step should be, did not happen; however, what happen from this meeting one individual (Patrick) began to tell the group members how they want the project to, what should be included in the project, but at no time Patrick gave the opportunity to the rest of the members in the to bring to the table their thoughts. We leave the meeting with the other members looking on each other asking each other what is our responsibility to this group. The following week we gather together as our professor instructed the groups again for us to meet. At this meeting, the question asks, what should we use as the pilot for our project. One of the members of the group (John) shares with us of the vacant building that his church owned. This was the first time our group had the opportunity to come to an agreement; however, it was not for long. Before the group could decide as the direction that we should take in putting this project together, Patrick without hearing our inputs began to tell us how he wants this project to go and I would feel the tense of the members. One member, Shayla interrupted Patrick and the path that he was taking the group project and suggested that the members should have a section in this project to work on. This was the best idea I believe so that each group member can be part of the project, but this still did …show more content…
As we settle down in the classroom to conduct our meeting, Carl uploads a sample PowerPoint that he was putting together on a building project for a Youth Group House that he wanted to do. Before the members could give their input to Carl idea, Patrick cut it off giving all the reasons that Carl PowerPoint was not the ideal one. I applaud Carl he did not question Patrick and the members once again were quiet and listen to Patrick telling us how we should go about the project and what he was going to do and send it out to us. It was time again for us to return to class, another meeting ends without us knowing or coming closer to which way we were going to putting this project

Session One When selecting our groups I was approached by another student who wanted to join us. One of my weaknesses is that I struggle to say no; I found the situation uncomfortable as I was aware of the feelings of the rest of the group. I could see the benefits of having an additional member as according to Preston-Shoot (2007) smaller groups are more likely to split into one to one interactions rather than developing as a group.
Our group could have had a better strategy to help us working together we could have used
All members of the groups were on different levels of acceptance with who they are as a person and the process expectations. Although members on different levels and stages of steps, they all had the same commitment goal. They all accept who they are because prior to members speaking the have to state their names and admit their problems. For any member of the group to be able to handle the changes in their group, they must some knowledge about their group leading
For this outcome I have two projects that I believe fit the points in a good way. Both of the projects I had to work in a group and be able to clearly and effectively get my ideas out as well as understand the others thoughts and ideas. These projects both involve working well in a team setting and being able to get to the common goal and being able to work well with one another. The two projects I have picked are my group Archetype project and then the group or class discussion.
My assignment for the writing 101 group project was to present how to conduct an interview. The information for this presentation came from The Curious Researcher by Bruce Ballinger. My group consisted of five people, we all would present this topic together. Knowing that we had a big group for a relatively small presentation, we had to divide the groups roles up very evenly so everyone could participate. This was the first thing we did as a group.
Because of the visa limitations, most of the students in our fellowship only stay in Boston for less than four years. In every graduation season, there will be around thirty students leave Boston. Every summer, we will have many new students come to visit the fellowship. The members of the Bible study groups are always changing. The small groups are always changing.
The overall educational ministry of the congregation is functional and benefits the majority. The Christian Education Committee takes the time to listen to the concerns of the community and asks for feedback on activities, so that activities may be edited for spiritual growth and expanding knowledge of religion. By listening to the concerns of the congregation and being knowledgeable of the needs of the community, FCCNH promotes spiritual growth through transmitting the tradition, applying faith to lives, and promoting social transformation. The committee at times becomes preoccupied with becoming irrelevant or exclusive. It is important that the activities of the church hold meaning for its congregants.
We were able to cover a lot of complex technical data and put together a plan to address the issue. After we left, I realized that Brad was very unhappy with the outcome of the meeting. Although we had walked into the meeting with a proposal that was much different than the outcome of the meeting, I was confident that the plan that

The Service Learning Project I chose was attend a worship service different from my own religion. I am of Roman Catholic religion and I chose to attend an Eastern Orthodox service. I chose this project because I am eager to learn about other religious traditions. I chose the Eastern Orthodox service because I have been curious to learn how they are different from the Roman Catholic traditions. Also, because my husband is Eastern Orthodox, but he stopped attending church over twenty years ago when he left Russia.
I think that by working in a group lets students see more connections between the story and the new information the gathered. For example when the family had to move to America because of the war. It lets students have a more open mind to the different culture of Islam. Groups can get more work done than singular students, but this assignment expected too much of the groups. I think instead of the group of four working on four big ideas, the groups should work together on one big idea.
The effects on the group will be varied. Some hearts will be changed; there will be some in the group that will have a new attitude others will have a stronger dedication to the call of the community. The dynamics need to be in place within the small group for the small group experience to be effective? For the small group to be effective, there must be the desire to grow in the grace of the Lord.
I 'm curious to know why your writing style is so good in some parts of the paper and so poor in others. And why have you not shown such great writing on the in-class essays?" • "This long passage doesn 't sound like your normal style. Is this a quotation where you accidentally forgot the quotation marks?" • "Explain to me again what the rules for paraphrasing or summarizing are.
Although one of the greatest benefits of working in a group is the inspiration and ideas that can result from team discussions, it seems as if my group did not capitalise on this opportunity. When running ideas by one and other, there is a lot more scope for creativity in comparison to working on a project alone. This assignment also brought together people from different backgrounds and different majors, creating an almost perfect environment for discussion and inspiration. However as my group becoming friendly and trusting extremely quickly there was a lack of task conflict, due to a lack of disagreements when ideas where put forward. “Task conflict may force the team to renegotiate goals and make better sense of problems, which has been linked to better and more original solutions in experimental studies” (e.g. Redmond, Mumford & Teach, 1993).
