A part of unconscious mind, including patterns of memories, instincts, feelings and experiences common to mankind.
Concept of Collective Consciousness (Basics):
The concept of the collective unconscious of Jungian is based on his experiences with schizophrenic persons.
Jung followed the Freudian theory of unconsciousness as the psychic strata formed by suppressing wishes, she later developed her own theory of the unconscious to include some other concepts. The most important of them is an Archetype.

Their compulsions are different that rather than of action and reaction, they are way of perception. Everyone inherits an inclination to fear objects that are ancestors found to be potentially dangerous , such as crocodile,so it will be easier to learn to fear flowers .But an individual who grows up and enjoying pleasant counters with crocodiles will not be greatly affected by this archetype.

The Anima is the personification of all feminine psychological tendencies within a man, the archetypal feminine symbolism within a man 's unconscious. The Animus is the representation of all male symbolism within a woman 's unconscious, masculine psychological tendencies within a woman archetypal. In dreams she said that it the is more likely for animus to be personified by many male figures, while a single female is frequently the anima. One might look at the concept of anima-animus as a kind of yin/yang solution to the duality of human sexuality. They are many products of the long human experience of woman with man and man with a woman: as a woman has opened to his male nature, so has man a corresponding female side.
Qualities:
The Male 's Anima:
The anima has positive traits. When through a man’s psyche the anima is allowed to express herself, she brings the attributes of emotions, feelings, tenderness, relatedness, friendship, commitment and fidelity, love and compassion, romance, imagination, gentleness, intuition, creativity and a sense of aesthetics.
The Female 's Animus:
The animus has positive traits. The animus can endow a woman with assertiveness, strength, courage, analytical thought, decisiveness, vitality, a focused attentiveness, and a wish for
An archetype describes the function or role of a character in the story. The seven roles of an archetype are the hero, the mentor, the threshold guardian, the herald, the shapeshifter, the shadow and the trickster. Moreover, the third phase is
An archetype is defined as an ideal example or model after which other things are patterned. It is considered to be a typical example of a thing or person. Archetype characters are though as to be “the original pattern” or “character type” that will be found on the hero’s journey. Linda Seger (2011) discusses the helpers who give advice to help the hero. These figures often give the hero particular objects to help him on the journey.
A sample of Caucasian and Japanese participants had to choose the most attractive faces from material and it was found across UK and Japanese populations feminised faces were preferred. Also found increasing masculine traits indicated dominance and negative attributions such as coldness or untrustworthiness hence showing masculine faces are associated with negative personality traits. This was supported by studies (Boothroyd, Jones, Burt, & Perrett, 2007; Rhodes, Simmons, & Peters, 2005) where feminized men had long term relationships whereas masculinised men had short
An archetype is a recurring idea that seems to appear in many different forms of literature. Every fairy tale ever has the same recognizable archetype of love vs. hate or good vs. evil. This has to be one of the most known and prominent themes of literature. Most forms of literature apply this concept, sometimes in different ways. For instance, in all of the Disney fairy tales, we have the same story line where the prince must save the princess, or overcome the wicked queen.
However, looking beyond what is initially shown, a new context can adhered to the plot. Carl Jung’s theory of archetypal patterns delves into the human psyche by analyzing its parts. According to Jung, the human mind is split into three different parts; the ego, the personal unconscious, and the collective unconscious- which can be split into many different archetypes that impact personality (McLeod). Oates uses archetypes and symbolism to show the battle of a young girl trying make her own home and identity in a world that
In Robert Jensen’s article “The High Cost of Manliness”, he states that the idea of masculinity is a bad thing and they should get rid of it. This article debates on the common stereotypes of men, as he states: “That dominant conception of masculinity in U.S. Culture is easily summarized: Men are assumed to be naturally competitive and aggressive, and being a real man is therefore marked by the struggle for control, conquest, and domination” (par. 4). Nonetheless, there are some traits that men and woman share, such as, caring, compassion, and tenderness. These traits often depend on the situation, since a man cannot always be this way, whereas, a woman is often expected to have these traits.
More often than not, society compels us to behave like genders we are not. For instance, when faced with challenges like finance, family issues and education, women are expected to be exceptionally strong. Likewise, when men are confronted with sensitive issues they are not expected to openly show their emotions like women. Some jobs description requires female
Masculinity and feminine overtime transform due to genetics, family background. And society. Gender shows how a person attitude, behaviors values, and cultures describe males and females. In picturing Will, Ann Beattie presents three different characters. Jody is a successful wedding photographer and a single mother after divorcing from Wayne.
An archetype is a pattern of behavior that can help us understand ourselves and others. To have a greater understanding of myself, I recognized the person archetype of a student within myself and the archetype of a journey throughout my four years in high school. These archetypes helped me throughout high school and helped me gain knowledge that I can apply throughout my life. My first archetype is one that many people experience within their life, a student. Everyone in their life has learned something either by learning from others or from themselves (Archetypes, Intellectual archetypes).
Throughout the theory Freud mentions how there are parts of us psyche come together and make up our perception and our unconscious. Freud also

In his private life however as shown in the biography “Jung the Mystic: The Esoteric Dimensions of Carl Jung’s Life and Teachings” he was a strong believer in that ghosts, visions and premonitions played a critical role in the important mystery of life. This dichotomy can be traced back to his mother claiming to have the ability to communicate with the dead and herself having believed greatly in other such occult myths. Jungs life was also in his eyes plagued by paranormal phenomena like his imaginary homunculus childhood friend that he later used as proof for the collective unconscious. He also attended seances and openly wrote about mediums like his cousin Freud rejected any and all kinds of mysticism out of
Based on dictionary.com, an archetype is defined as the first example or model from which all things of the same kind are replicated or on which they are established; a model, or the first shape of something. Blood Wedding is a play written by Federico Garcia Lorca where he uses many archetypes to tell the story of a feud between two families and a marriage. All throughout the play, Federico Garcia Lorca would use names such as Bride, Bridegroom, Mother, Father, Maid et cetera to portray the function of the characters instead of using their names. Federico Garcia Lorca uses archetypal characters in Blood Wedding to portray the cultural difference between the old generation and the new, to bring about and enhance Leonardo’s character, and to
What is equally important in this process of thinking is to look at the views the author has on certain aspects, in this case masculinity and womanhood,
Carl Jung, a psychotherapist and founder of analytical psychology has discovered that these personality types are from within the unconscious and are patterns that shape our perceptions. These patterns are called “archetypes”. Jung explains that these archetypes cannot be directly experienced, but can be culturally conditioned and manifested in images and symbols (McManus). Application of archetypes are not limited to only humans, but can be represented by fictional characters in movies and books. In The Lion King, there are many archetypal images and symbols that are represented by the animals.
