Growing up, I was highly active in 4-H- primarily the livestock raising aspect of the organization. From my participation in 4-H, I learned so much about the anatomy of an animal. I was especially knowledgeable in the movement and idealism of meat goats. I created special exercise programs for animals in hopes of getting them to place highly at the local exposition which, thankfully, did happen. However, as I performed in 4-H, I came to the sudden realization that this could be a lifelong career. The study of movement, the creation of promising exercises, the ability to see a positive change in a being- it all seemed so captivating and yet so familiar to me. I began looking at different occupations and shadowed over ten physicians. It …show more content…
I know now that Kinesiology, the study of human movement, will help me reach my goal of becoming an occupational therapist. To be more precise an occupational therapist is an individual who helps people participate in what we consider everyday activities through individualized exercises and plans. A person cannot achieve this without an understanding of how the human body functions in the first place. Therefore, in order for me to be fully capable of helping others and at some point owning my own clinic, I need to understand kinesiology. To underrate this field of study would be ignorant of me to do so. Kinesiology, in short, is wholly important to society. This field of study is beneficial to a wide range of individuals- from young children to the elderly- and encompasses the possibility to have a career in many areas. The individuals who study this field physically improve the quality of life for others, and the character of such individuals contribute to faith in society. News stations are overrun with stories of deceit, death, even terrorism, and it 's the individuals who go into kinesiology that seek to genuinely care for the well-being of others. This is what society craves most, and what has allowed me to become so
Kinesiology is the study of body movement and physical therapy lies in a career that relates to aiding many people with injuries, diseases, or deformity. Rather than using drugs or surgery, physical methods such as massages, heat treatments, or exercise can rehabilitate the people to become the best they could ever be. Having the ability to help people physically and mentally has influenced my choice to enter the field of sport medicine. The soul purpose of a physical therapist is to help people gain their ability to move, decrease the amount of pain, and to be able to have complete function of their body.
My 9th year I had the chance to get back into the cattle barn by showing a Maintainer heifer with my first year back and being awarded grand champion mainetainer heifer was beyond the greatest experience ever! However, in my years I’ve attend two camps one was at Tecumseh and the other was at Purdue University. Both those camps allowed myself to make new friends and learn to skills. Being a member of 4-H has driven me to my college major of Animal Science and Nutrition with all the livestock and research that has been done with all my projects. I plan to finish my career with making memories and more friends.
However, I have also gained many life experiences that some many never have, I have participated in the Ross County Queens’ Contest, went to 4-H camps during the summer, and have had the opportunity to raise and show hogs at the county fair. Additionally being a Camp Counselor, a member of Junior Fair Board, and Junior Leaders great
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
Over the last two months I have observed three different careers related to Exercise Science. I had the opportunity to observe a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and an Athletic Trainer. Going on these observations has really opened my eyes to what I want to do in the future after college and the requirements that I need to get there. With my Exercise Science degree I am aiming to be a Pediatric Occupational Therapist. An Occupational Therapist is a profession that helps people across their lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities.
I love the one on one aspect of nursing or medicine, which is what I loved about teaching. If I go into medicine, I want to go into osteology. Bones and the way they work is fascinating to me. The way a bone looks like a piece of coral, and the way they break, that’s something I want to study for the rest of my life. I personally have early onset osteoporosis due to my stomach issues, lactose intolerance, and having a history of anorexia nervosa all combine to weaken my bones.
Beatty, I have pursued relevant experience to prepare me for this career path. While boxing has taught me discipline and confidence, my physical therapist aide job has provided me with hands-on experience working with patients. With these experiences under my belt, I am ready for the next step on my path to medical school, then ultimately to become a Physiatrist. I can truly say that I will be successful in helping others with their conditions and continually learn from my mistakes along the process. This was all I needed to erase doubt, satisfy my desire and keep my mind focused on proceeding in my career
It is difficult to describe my entire experience with osteopathic medicine, as it has played a large part in who I am. Throughout my life, I have lived and participated in the osteopathic community. From physician father to physician friends or from my own personal family doctor, I have been exposed to the osteopathic physician. I have spent time in an osteopathic clinic. I have worked with the disabled.
After this research experience, I hope to have a better understanding of my place in the world of

When people grow up, they always dream of being successful and becoming something important, such as a doctor or a nurse. My childhood and present-day dream is to become a Veterinarian Technician. I chose this occupation because of my passion for animals and my big heart. This career consists of multiple tasks being asked of the person, and being able to multi-task and have multiple skills. Whenever people hear the words, “Veterinarian Technician,” they focus mainly on the Veterinarian part, if anything.
In every unit, I tend to have more of an interest in the medicine aspect and how they help treat patients. The medicines and cures that have been created and used since the ancient times till now are something I really enjoy researching and learning about. Some of the hands-on experiences I’ve had in health science were first aid and CPR. Although it was all practical, it still gave the feel of a real situation and helped me understand information about the medicines and quick response and action needed for a patient in need. When we were doing first aid in health science we practiced with false
Interview a Professional in Kinesiology As we embark on a profession in Kinesiology we have to ask what field best fits me and my personality. Originally I wanted to pursue a Physical therapy career. As I studied further and understood the education aspect Physical therapy I realized I wanted to be part of the boot camp perspective of wellness and fitness. I want to be part of such a rewarding career. I feel that the subjects I have studied have provided me with a good foundation of skills and knowledge that I will use on a daily basis as Occupational therapist. In Biology I learned about the human body on a physical level. I found learning how the body works to be fascinating and I look forward to expanding my knowledge even more with this course.
