In the book Macbeth, the king that rules is being plotted to be murdered by Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is the one to blame, because she has been taunting her husband with his fears and telling him he is no man if he does not murder the king.
“When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more than the man. Nor time nor place Did then adhere, and yet you would make both. They have made themselves, and that their fitness now Does unmake you. I have given suck, and know How tender ‘tis to love the babe that milks me. This quote shows the connection between Adam and Eve and how the woman convinced the man to do something that the man knew then should not. Lady Macbeth is trying to convince her husband to murder for Macbeth to become king for her own selfish pleasures.
“Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be What thou art promised. Yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o' th' milk of human kindness To catch the nearest way. Thou wouldst be great, Art not without ambition, but without The illness should attend it” (1.7.15-20). This quote shows that without ambition and sympathy, Macbeth will not get the job done to murder his king and please his wife. Lady Macbeth’s first thought after reading the letter from the witches was to murder the king and Macbeth is too blind by his ambition. Overall, Macbeth is a weak person compared to his wife, just because he is a man does not mean his wife is not stronger than he is when it comes to evil and getting the job
