Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are the least likely to have killed Duncan. Despite possessing the means to kill Duncan, because they were at the castle during his murder and have the authority to bypass the guards, the did not have the motives. She’s more of the brains behind the plan to kill King Duncan rather than the actual murderer. In Act 1: Scene 5, she receives the letter from Macbeth and she says “Yet I do fear thy nature; It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness”, she knows that he will end up not wanting to go through with their plan. Although he could have said no she still pushed him to proceed. Maybe if Macbeth would’ve put his foot down instead of cowering down and doing whatever Lady Macbeth said, he wouldn’t be in the predicament of having to kill his friends that he is in now. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are much like Adam and Eve.

She used manipulation tactics such as questioning Macbeth’s masculinity, which convinced him to commit the murder out of a need to prove himself. This can be proven in Act 1, Scene 7 when Lady Macbeth says to Macbeth “When you durst do it, then you were a man” (Shakespeare, Act 1, Scene 7), saying that he would only be a man when he killed King Duncan. Lady Macbeth possessed the actus rea of the murder as well, as she was the one who decided on the plan of how to kill the king, which made her an accomplice to the guilty act. She was also the one who planted the knives on the guard after the murder, making her more of an accomplice. Overall, while Lady Macbeth herself did not King Duncan, it was her actions that influenced Macbeth to kill him.
She struggles with the notion that she had a hand in King Duncan's murder. She did not want to murder King Duncan herself because she saw her father in him. This caused her to see King Duncan dead in his bed and get her hands dirty with his blood.
Demonstrating her meticulously thought out plan, Lady Macbeth showed her knowledge of crime and royalty, as she had even created a plan for the blame of the murder. To fulfill her piece of conquering, Lady Macbeth successfully orchestrated the murder of Duncan, leaving no trace to place the blame on her. Additionally, to further the accountability from her name, Lady Macbeth faked a fainting spell, crying, “Help me hence, ho!” (Shakespeare, 2.3 138) as she crashed to the ground. Upon hearing the news of Duncan’s passing, Lady Macbeth saw the opportunity to clear
