Lady Macbeth's Change In Personality

How macbeth and lady Macbeth change throughout the story. They both changed very differently especially macbeth because he turned not to be himself. Lady Macbeth was still herself and wasn't herself. How they change is in the beginning of the story macbeth was cool person not as savage like his wife when it came down to killing the king he wasn't so sure and lady macbeth was very sure about it .

At first, rather than putting all the blame on Macbeth she is proud of her involvement in the murder stating: “My hands are of your colour but I shame to wear a heart so white.” Initially this villainizes her as she is in control rather than being an obedient wife going against Jacobean stereotypes

Lady Macbeth Portrayal Throughout centuries, countless of personalities have risen and has had an effect either positive or negative to the community that revolves around them. Each person has a unique but defined character trait that sets them apart. However, if this was not the case, and everybody operated the same way, the world will be in a linear path summed up of same ambitions, goals, and character traits. In summary, no one would stand out from another.

The Transformation of Lady Macbeth Shakespeare’s Macbeth demonstrates how Lady Macbeth becomes less and less bloodthirsty after the murder of Duncan due to her humane qualities that allow her to feel guilt. Lady Macbeth transforms from a selfish murder-focused accomplice to a woman opposed to the murder of innocent people. Ultimately, she becomes a sleepwalker, consumed by her own guilt.

As Lady Macbeth continues to hide her “weak” attributes by displaying a stronger shell, she also reveals her sense of ambition. Although Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both seek power, it is obvious that power is what drives Lady Macbeth. From the second she knew about the witches’ prophecies, she made it her goal to become King and Queen. When she creates a plan to murder King Duncan, Macbeth shows he is nervous, Lady Macbeth finds this problematic and asks him to “project a peaceful mood, because if you look troubled, you will arouse suspicion.” (1.5.63-65).

William Shakespeare portrayed the character Lady Macbeth to be extremely ruthless, malicious and manipulative. Thus, being the reason she could easily convince Macbeth to do her will, yet still put on such a convincing performance in front of those who knew nothing of her and her husband’s actions. There are many people in the world that experience mental problems and therefore affecting their personality. Not everyone though is as bad as Macbeth when it comes to mental deterioration. Macbeth is a very self-centered man and it leads him to change the person he once was. Although it is not seen much in the beginning of Shakespeare's play “The Tragedy of Macbeth”, Macbeth’s mental state deteriorates as the play progresses, which can be seen when he is guilty of murdering King Duncan, being taunted by the ghost of Banquo, and his speech to the witches.

She insults him and calls him a coward while also questioning his manhood which makes Macbeth come to a realization that not killing the king is the way of a coward and he is motivated to carry out the plan and murder the king because of Lady Macbeth’s insults and speech that she gives him. By successfully persuading Macbeth into murdering the king this shows that Lady Macbeth is controlling towards people and she can be a very manipulative person. It shows that she is the type of person that gets things done by manipulating other people to do her dirty work for her. Lady Macbeth can simply achieve her own goals by getting into anyone’s head and turning their own conscience against them in, which is essentially what she did to her husband. Macbeth would have never went through with killing King Duncan if Lady Macbeth had never persuaded him because he really does have a soft heart and is good and honorable.

But this didn’t happen on its own; things that affected his character were his power and confidence in front of others, how his relations to the witches increased, and his insufficient restraint in evil activities. There are many sides to this powerful drama, including different sides to just one character. This essay could be written about nearly any of the roles in the play and would still be just as layered with many different examples. Macbeth’s and Lady Macbeth’s relationship is somewhat the opposite of a regular relationship. Lady Macbeth makes all the orders and her husband follows them. Perhaps Macbeth does this out of respect for her. Their love for each other is not the one you find in every day relationship. Lady Macbeth made Macbeth decisions for him until Duncan death, telling him what choices were right for him if he wanted to become king.

She is only focused on completing her goal of murdering King Duncan so her husband can usurp the throne. She realizes that her husband’s personality is rather meek, and that he would not go through with murdering King Duncan because of a quality that he has, his humanity, which she considers his greatest weakness. Deliberating with herself, she thinks of Macbeth and his potential in regard to what could come to pass: “Yet do I fear thy nature, / It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness / To catch the nearest way” (Shakespeare l.v.16-18).
