It’s important to recognize one’s personal values when working in the field of Human Services because your values are a significant part of your beliefs. Views help you make the best choices as a Human Service Professional. Life decisions are determined by what you value most as a person. As a professional you should embrace diversity and the values of other people. Learning to do this is a process which takes time and you being willing to do so.

“The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure.” Babe Ruth was always into trouble as a young kid before he became a baseball player. Jackie Robinson learned that the color of people does not matter. Struggling with offense, Ozzie Smith hit a walk off homerun in the World Series to win the game. To accomplish incredible goals one must face fear.

Each one has learned many lessons from their courses in life which established their personal morality. In particular, the author, Wes Moore, was driven by positive outcomes from his negative conditions resulting from him a successful person in his adulthood. As a result, the inspiring story of the author, Wes Moore, could be described in three themes: Peer, Parent, and Family Support; Loss and Redemption; and Decision Making.

People throughout history, and present, live in fear of judgment. They believe that their self-worth lies in the hands of other people. The fear of judgement restricts them from reaching their full capacity and potential. It molds them into what their discouraging peers want them to be. Theodore Roosevelt stressed the importance of not concerning himself of what others thought of his choices.

Throughout one's life, there are many decisions to be made. In retrospect, some decisions, such as what to wear in the morning, can seem trivial. On the other hand, there are more extensive decisions that impact the rest of one's life. With these decisions, people tend to base their conclusions on what motivates them. When an individual finds someone with similar beliefs and values, it can take away from expectations set by one's parents, create a different path that was not anticipated and construct a more meaningful life.

Values are those which seem of great prominence to one and meaning influenced by the daily movement, experiences and viewing of perspectives that profoundly surround us and change our thinking. A text can challenge these values by the use of characters that reach out to the audience and allow them to rethink their own by the presenting of differing perspectives. A text’s word can influence different meaning, send out a message, inform and change one’s opinions and beliefs by allowing one to experience different ideas and then to re-think about them. The ideas can oppose conceptions formed without any evidence resulting in the creation of new values, beliefs and visions to perceive the world by filling in the gaps of evidence that was not there

Being honest is personally meaningful to me because I believe that it is important for others to know that I am trustworthy and truthful so that they can feel secure that I will act in an ethical way. People make many decisions in their life. From big choices like what kind of job to get, which people I should hang out with, and who to marry, to the small choices like what to eat for breakfast and what to wear today. Decision-making is a very important part of everyone 's lives. Making decisions has an effect on more than just you, a decision can affect you for the rest of your life, and intuition decision making can cause problems. Decision making is hard especially when there are a lot of options to choose from and can often lead to bad decisions or refusing to decide at all.

This document stresses the influence of surroundings and the idea that a person should give weight or emphasis to experience and age as opposed to a single supreme source. Document 4 focuses on the codes of acceptable behavior in terms of taking the middle path. This document explains how an individual’s surroundings impact their decisions and how a perfect person focuses on a balance of the extremes and not on a commitment to just one path. Document 7 focuses on the codes or rules for understanding the balance between real and abstract for a more complete existence. This document continues the theme of balance between two concepts and is consistent with Confucian philosophy.

Many individuals experience different amounts of failure in their lifetimes. Many learn and grow from their defeats and others let it keep them from succeeding.   I made sure that failure was another obstacle to success. Icons like Randy moss didn’t let failure get the best of him when he didn’t make the freshman high school football team, and look at him now, he is one of the best Football players of all time.     

These people are overcome by fear. They are afraid to continue moving forward and taking risks. The quote itself can be translated into, an everyday person does not want to be happy and ambitious. That person will settle with what will keep them alive. I agree with this quote for a few reasons.

The satisfaction you feel when you are successful always doesn't come easy sometimes you need to fail in order to know what the true joy of being successful feels like. In the essay The Right to Fail written by an American critic William Zinsser, he states “Don't be afraid to fail!” “The right to fail is one of the few freedoms that the country does not grant its citizens.” Zinsser depicts the rich truth that you can fail, you can get back up and try again. You do not need to fear failure everyone makes mistakes and in America that is acceptable and understandable.
