In my opinon Lincoln was a strong president because he never once gave up. When he didn 't get elceted for president the first time he tried he didnt give up, he tried again two more times. Most people would give up after the first time but he had faith he would get elected. It was because of Lincoln that America won the civil war. He knew what he could do for his country and he tried his best. he used his term as a veiwpoint to get other people to get on his side. He wanted to free the slaves he was always on the people side, he cared for his country and not about himself. Lincoln was the strongest president and thank him for what he tought our
Just a couple months after Lincoln was inaugurated the Civil War broke out putting Lincoln on the spot to Unify the Confederacy and the Union to eventually end slavery all together. At first doubts about Abraham Lincoln’s ability to lead arose. He seemed to not have much experience in politics or military leadership. Conversely, though he proved to be patient but strong and was a great war planner. Though struggles with finding a good general to lead the union was still at hand, Lincoln’s decisions were good until the end of the war.
Rebecca, I agree with your view on President Lincoln 's actions being revolutionary for the time. While Lincoln faced opposition to some of his beliefs a majority of his actions influenced the United States in the long term. I also agree that the Emancipation Proclamation was the greatest measure of his presidency. The Emancipation Proclamation was a decree that freed slaves in areas of rebellion if they were to fight in the war, which did not please everyone (Faragher,396). I really enjoyed your discussion over Lincoln 's cabinet it played a major role in the struggles of Lincoln 's presidency.

Abraham Lincoln, looking back, seems like an integral person to America and its history. People today may believe that, but it was actually surprisingly difficult for Lincoln to win his reelection. There were many factors contributing to this uncertainty, one of them being his support of emancipation for slaves. According to USHistory.org, the Democratic Party was split right down the middle about their hopes for the war. Half of the democrats were extremely dead-set on ending the war with a peace treaty, and the other half wanted to continue the fight ("The Election of 1864").

In 1952, Thomas P. Benjamin, an expert in the history of Abraham Lincoln’s life, published his book, Abraham Lincoln: A Biography, which argues that Lincoln’s election was the cause of the war but Lincoln’s efforts would also lead to the North’s decisive victory. This argument renders similar to the arguments of Charnwood and Ludwig, but differs in the way that Lincoln’s actions are glorified tremendously in this second time period. Lincoln, along with his actions, are depicted as highly thoughtful, incisive and effective. His clearly recognized position of the moral issue of slavery gave rise to Lincoln’s fame and aided his presidential election.5 Benjamin further states the point that Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was an important milestone
Lincoln was a lot of things but he was mainly confident. He was confident in the change in slavery and what he strived to achieve as the President. Lincoln spoke a 701 word brief speech for his second Inaugural Address. This speech stated the sin of slavery and punishment of it in a the best way of stating it confidently(Lincoln 1). This could have been a possible explanation for his assassination due to the fact that a month after his death this speech was copied and printed as a big deal.
