Lincoln: A Strong President

Just a couple months after Lincoln was inaugurated the Civil War broke out putting Lincoln on the spot to Unify the Confederacy and the Union to eventually end slavery all together. At first doubts about Abraham Lincoln’s ability to lead arose. He seemed to not have much experience in politics or military leadership. Conversely, though he proved to be patient but strong and was a great war planner. Though struggles with finding a good general to lead the union was still at hand, Lincoln’s decisions were good until the end of the war.

While Lincoln faced opposition to some of his beliefs a majority of his actions influenced the United States in the long term. The Emancipation Proclamation was a decree that freed slaves in areas of rebellion if they were to fight in the war, which did not please everyone (Faragher,396). Abarham Lincoln know a man know for his strength and courage. This man had to deal with the civil war an event that could have torn the country apart. Lincoln was a lot of things but he was mainly confident. He was confident in the change in slavery and what he strived to achieve as the President. This could have been a possible explanation for his assassination due to the fact that a month after his death this speech was copied and printed as a big deal.
