The Holocaust was the realization of Adolf Hitler’s grand vision to exterminate the Jews. Elie Wiesel’s Night is a memoir written from his perspective as a young boy caught in the middle of the slaughter of the Jewish people. Elie and his family were deported to the Nazi concentration camp without a clue of the immense suffering that awaited them. Furthermore, the text follows the writer’s internal struggle inside Auschwitz as he faces the horrors that had stolen his childhood innocence and his faith in humanity.

The memoir Night was written by Marion Wiesel he routes the traumatic experiences he went through at the Holocaust. The Holocaust happened between the years 1933 and 1945. The Holocaust was created by Hitler and he wanted to “exterminate” the jews race by sending them to concentration camps and torturing them. In the novel “Night” by Elie Wiesel, the author’s motivating emotion to write this story could have been empathy. Throughout most of the novel, Wiesel tries to emphasize certain events and moments he experienced during the difficult time of the Holocaust in order to inform the general public about the events of the Holocaust and the history of it. In addition, in an interview with the Paris Review Wiesel talks about his feelings and his purpose for writing this novel. “I didn’t want to write a book on the Holocaust. To write such a book, to be responsible for such experiences, for such words - I didn’t want that” Wiesel tells Paris Review interviewer John S. Friedman.

As people we try to have good morals but, when faced with a horrific event, such as the Holocaust our morals tend to change. The memoir Night is a true story based on Elie Wiesel, a boy who survived the Holocaust. Elie and his father, Shlomo, went through almost two years of torture in different concentration camps until his father eventually passed away. Elie had to endure so much pain at a young age. In these camps, the dark and angry side of humanity was truly exposed.

The novel Night is a terrifying story that reveals the horrors of the Holocaust. The author Elie Wiesel,winner of the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize and a Holocaust survivor, published this award winning book in the year 1956. He wrote this novel to tell about his experiences with his father in the Nazi Germany concentration camps at Auschwitz and Buchenwald in 1944-1945. Now his word and his story has gotten to the public so now we all now know and understand the horror of the Holocaust.

Real World Reflection On February 14, 2018 a shooting occurred in a school in Florida, by one of the students. This unleashed anger throughout countless students and parents who wanted stricter gun control laws; this event started many protests and actions being made in order to have safe schools. However, the government is not making reforms to keep guns out of the hands of minors and dangerous people causing even more unrest. This event relates to British imperialism in India because the government was not listening to the needs of the population. Furthermore, the people started to peacefully protest under guidance of Gandhi, one of the greatest activists in history, eventually leading to social, economic, and political change.

Night, an autobiography that was written by Elie Wiesel, is from his perspective as a prisoner. The book focuses on Wiesel and his father experiencing the torture that the Nazis put them through, and the unspeakable events that Wiesel witnessed. The author, Wiesel, was one of the handfuls of survivors to be able to tell his time about the appalling incidents that occurred during the Holocaust. That being the case, in the memoir Night, Wiesel uses somber descriptive diction, along with vivid syntax to portray the dehumanizing actions of the Nazis and to invoke empathy to the reader.

Elie Wiesel’s memoir Night tells the personal tale of his account of the inhumanity and brutality the Nazis showed during the Holocaust. Night depicts the story of a young Jew from the small town of Sighet named Eliezer. Wiesel and his family are deported to the concentration camp known as Auschwitz. He must learn to survive with his father’s help until he finds liberation from the horror of the camp. This memoir, however, hides a greater lesson that can only be revealed through careful analyzation.

In the book “Night”, silence is used many times. It’s important in the because it represents how the world stood back and did nothing while millions of Jews were being burned, beat, and tortured. It’s portrayed through acts of inhumanity and violence. To Elie, silence is evil because it allowed the Nazi’s to continue their torture towards the Jews. This quote on page 81 says, “They’re going to do another selection today… a decisive selection.

The memoir written by Elie Wiesel, Night, is illustrating the Holocaust, the even which caused the death of over 6 million Jews. Auschwitz, the concentration camps, is responsible for over 1 million of the deaths. In the memoir Night, Wiesel uses the symbolism of fire, and silence to clearly communicate to the readers that the Holocaust was a catastrophic and calamitous event, and that children should never be involved in warfare. Elie Wiesel enters Auschwitz at the age of 15, and witnesses’ horrific events as a prisoner in Auschwitz, including the deaths of numerous children, and the beating and death of his own father. All these inhumane things were done just because Adolf Hitler wanted to cleanse the German society of the Jews.

Gage Amid the midst of the Holocaust, millions of Jews, Gypsies, Handicapped, and Homosexuals went through extermination and among all the victims Elie Wiesel lived to tell his story. Elie Wiesel wrote this story so something like this would never occurred again. In “Night” Elie Wiesel and his family witnessed and experienced the horrific treatment and genocide of Jews which led to them becoming practically emotionless and abnormal.

Night is told through the first person, therefore providing an immensely accurate depiction to what life was like during the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel himself too had gone through or seen pretty much everything that was happening to the Jews. Although readers can learn a lot from the memoir, they are too sane to truly comprehend how the Jews felt without actually experiencing the tragedy for
