Lorenzo is the character I believe I am the most similar to in Spare Parts. The reason I relate to him is because I feel that we have similar strengths. In the book, Lorenzo is shown to be persistent, creative, and motivated. He shows that he is persistent by trying his best to improve himself, as seen by him working hard to prove that he is valuable to the team. He is noted to be creative as well, which is demonstrated by his abnormal ideas helping the team win the competition. An example of Lorenzo's out off the ordinary ideas is using tampons to absorb water that leaks into the control box. And finally, Lorenzo is shown to be extremely motivated. I am creative, as seen by the fact that I can find unique solutions to problems. And lastly, I am motivated, seen by the fact that I am working hard to reach my goals. These traits allow me to cope with stress by letting me work hard and think abstractly of ways to get rid of the cause of the stress. Support systems have also helped me cope with stress. On campus, I can find academic support from my academic advisor, my professors, tutors, while I can get personal support from CAPS. Outside of campus, my support systems are my friends and family. This is one of the few differences between me and Lorenzo, as my family supports me no matter what my goal is. For Lorenzo though, the only real support system he has is Fredi and the rest of the robotics team, as Lorenzo's family does not care about his part in robotics and thus, does not offer him much support. Fredi gives Lorenzo support by pushing him to work harder so he can stay on the team. He also supports Lorenzo by letting him help around school, giving Lorenzo a sense or purpose other than getting into fights. The robotics team supports Lorenzo by giving him friends and showing him that he can do
