The evidence would need to show exactly what King did. There is only the one main thesis about 'Martin Luther King Jr. and how he helped the black people'. I have heard this message about the racism before as well as others similar messages. The thesis applies to racism and what King did to help the black people and is. How MLK, jr., Plessy v Ferguson, and Jim Crow laws affected the civil rights movement. Segregation affected all my topics by being a part of them. This shows how big of an impact segregation was at the time. It's all a war for the freedom and rights for black people. Also for the blacks to gain all the power that they had before everything about blacks after discrimination against them even started.
Many people believe that racism finished or disappeared after the Civil Rights Movement in 1960 but its signs are seen in the society around us even nowadays. Even though people have fought so much for the equality of the races it seems like the white supremacy always finds a way to show itself and suppress the wanted equality in one way or another. But going back in time, remembering one of the most important movements in the history of the US and of the world which has been the African-American Civil Rights Movement, whose leader was Martin Luther King Jr. “Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.
Racial segregation was a major issue that alarmed the black community in the 1960s. Martin Luther King could not just sit and watch his own race get discriminated any longer; he was a well-known peaceful leader who led the black community in nonviolent protests. He was the voice of the discriminated, and stood up for the injustice thrown to his race. Being a Baptist minister, he could only peacefully evoke the idea of equality and unity among the races by communicating and marching. With his influences, thousands of African Americans stood by his side to form a nonviolent resistance towards segregation.
Martin Luther King Jr. was the leader of the African-American Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Movement started in 1955 and today in 2016 we are still seeing the same horror that was experienced by black Americans over 60 years ago. Of course,
Martin Luther King also demonstrated leadership ability when he also put his well-being on the line and not only took part of the civil rights marches but led them. He inspired others to follow because he made a personal commitment for his cause. The inspiration and the hope he gave was to all people not just one race. He gave people hope that one day that all people will be treated equally and be judged by their character. Martin Luther King was defiant as his home was bombed in 1956 and he continued with his dream showing his never give up attitude.
Later, King wrote that “It is unfortunate that demonstrations are taking place in Birmingham, but it is even more unfortunate that the city's white power structure left the Negro community with no alternative.” In other words, King pointed out the seriousness of the harm caused by the injustice in society. After King demonstrated the situations and issues in society, he provided four steps of nonviolent solutions: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self-purification; and direct action. In this case, King masterly applied the structure that pointed out the issues and provided the arguments as
Throughout the speech Martin Luther King Jr. emphasizes his direct action plan to the local religious leaders by using logos and pathos. He sheds light to the distressed black community and illustrates the woeful dichotomy between whites and blacks. King states his proposal to a nonviolent campaign to convince the religious leaders of this direct plan of action. He exemplifies the steps in order to obtain a nonviolent campaign by saying,” a collection of the facts to determine whether injustice exist..”
However, some believed that he was making too many changes. To begin with, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a african-american civil rights movement leader. For instance, “ Martin Luther King Jr.’s fresh and skillful rhetoric put a new energy into the civil rights struggle in Alabama.” (source #2).
Martin Luther King was one of the most influential and inspiring people in US history. He devoted all his life to the development and integration of minorities in the country, such as blacks and the poor, and to gain rights and freedom for all. Through his journey towards the goal of equality, he used nonviolent tactics. However, these tactics were ineffective as long time was needed, their aims are not fully accomplished, and more sacrifice had happened. Martin Luther King’s nonviolent tactics were ineffective as it took long time and still Montgomery stayed as a segregated town after boycott.
Martin Luther King Jr. has done many incredible things throughout his lifetime that has positively affected the world in plentiful ways. He played pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of well as the creation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. He was also elected to lead the boycott because he was young, well trained with solid family connections and had professional standing. Martin led the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until his death by assassination in 1968. Martin and over 60 ministers and civil right activists founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference to harness the moral authority and organizing power of block churches.
In he letter, King states that “Nonviolent direct action seeks to create such a crisis and establish such creative tension that a community that has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue” (4). Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. explains that nonviolent protests bring focus upon the issue at hand and are hard to be ignored because so much tension is created. To affect his audience, King uses personal anecdotes to appeal to the emotions of the audience and to get them to agree that “only light can drive out darkness” (King). King added that “But when you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at will and drown your sisters and brothers at whim; when you have seen hate-filled policemen curse, kick, brutalize and even kill your black brothers and sisters with impunity; when you see the vast majority of your twenty million Negro brothers smother-ing in an airtight cage of poverty in the midst of an affluent society….
Based on what I read I can infer that Martin Luther King Jr was very successful with his and many others challenge, black rights. In his time black people were shot at beaten and bombed because they had a different skin color. I know this because in the biography of Martin Luther King Jr. it states, "He received threats on a daily bases. Everywhere he went he was in danger of physical attack. Many supporters of the civil rights were killed.
Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most influential leaders of his time and played a crucial role in the African-American Civil Rights movement. Luther was a charismatic leader who took a firm stand against the oppressive and racist regime of the United States (US), devoting much of his life towards uniting the segregated African-American community of the US. His efforts to consolidate and harmonise the US into one country for all is reflected in many of his writings and speeches spanning his career. As a leader of his people, King took the stand to take radical measures to overcome the false promises of the sovereign government that had been addressing the issues of racial segregation through unimplemented transparent laws that did nothing to change the grim realities of the society. Hence, King’s works always had the recurring theme of the unity and strength of combined willpower.
People in life struggle with hardships enormously in life. People can overcome those hardships and become a new person entirely. Martin Luther King went through a great amount of hardships during the Civil Rights movement. Martin had a great amount of hate received to him all over the country.that just changed him to work harder to convince hateful people that blacks and whites could be together. Martin was sadly assassinated, but his image changed the world greatly.
Martin Luther King Jr. helped us realize that segregation and poverty are wrong. He also helped us realize that we should treat people the same. No matter race, color, or gender. He has impacted our everyday lives with the Civil Rights Act and his “I Have a Dream…” speech. He is an important man with an important history.
