After a press conference, the that it thought that Johnson had just pronounced his own death sentence. Earvin "Magic" Johnson, former basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers (position was point guard), shocked the world on November 7, 1991 when he told that he had caught HIV the disease that causes AIDS. He has been living with it for the last 20 years of his life.
Life was not always about HIV for Johnson, he is very well know for his role as point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers. If fact he was know as one America’s best Players for 12 years. Additionally, Johnson, who scored 13 points, and made 13 rebounds and 13 assists in Game 6 of the 1982 Finals, earned his second series MVP award. The following season (1982-83) saw the third Finals match-up between the Lakers and the 76ers in four years. This time, however, L.A. was defeated by Philadelphia, losing four consecutive games to the 76ers and winning none during the series. In the 1984 NBA Finals, Johnson again encountered rival Larry Bird, who had signed with the Boston Celtics. This was the first of several match-ups between the two teams. The Celtics beat the Lakers in a tight competition—four games to three—for the 1984 championship. The Lakers, however, took down the Celtics the following year in the finals. Johnson was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 1996, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.

He retired from basketball and became a businessman. He owns multiple franchises and some real estate. He then was diagnosed with HIV. Magic Johnson was a great player he was drafted out of college to the Lakers team he played as a point guard even though he was 6’ 9”. Magic Johnson was an important part of the team for the Lakers he ended the season winning the Most Valuable Player Award.
When the Lakers moved to L.A. they became the first NBA team on the West Coast (Los Angeles Lakers). Despite their being no lakes anywhere in L.A., the Lakers decided to retain their name (Los Angeles Lakers). Their very first season in L.A., the Lakers finished in second place with a 36-43 record, beating the Detroit Pistons in the playoffs, but losing to the St. Louis Hawks in the Western Finals (Los Angeles Lakers). The Lakers have housed some of basketballs greatest players, including Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman and Jerry West, all of whom are just a few of the Lakers 23 Hall of Famers (Los Angeles Lakers).

Both teams had quite a few all stars on their roster the Warriors had 3 stars on the team and the Lakers had 2 stars. They both had role players that played a key role in their teams. One team averaged almost 105 points per game and the other team averaged 104 points. Kobe Bryant was able to win 5 and Michael Jordan won 6. This puts MJ ahead in the winning category because championships are what you strive for especially since MJ played for less years.
