My View of marijuana is to legalize it across the united states, there are many benefits from cannabis that can-do wonders in the medical field for many that truly need it. I have seen and read documentaries, videos of how much cannabis can help with people who are in pain, suffer post-traumatic stress disorder, nausea, insomnia, and so much more. The first question that is asked what is Marijuana and why does it have the reputation as a "bad drug"? Marijuana also known as pot, weed, or cannabis. For many years marijuana has had reputation as a get way drug for other drugs that ARE dangerous such as cocaine and heroin. Marijuana has been one of the top topics that has encounter multiple debates in whether to legalize medical and recreational use across the United States. As of 2017 some states have already legalized both recreational and medical use. …show more content…
Many have debate reason why it should be legal, one GREAT reason it should be legalized or at least first to not be called as a "dangerous drug" is that NO ONE person in the history of marijuana existence has anyone over dose or died from marijuana. (Jacques, 2014) In the Huff Post they state that 2010, 38,329 people died from drug overdoses. And sixty of those were from prescription drugs and 25,692 people died from alcohol related causes. (Jacques, 2014) . Another reason that people are now understanding is that marijuana is not addicting. Like regular tobacco cigarettes, alcohol, prescription pills and even caffeine. (Jacques, 2014) How interesting is
Legalizing marijuana can make the state some money and there are many benefits to it. Legalizing marijuana won’t benefit at all for the big corrupt pharmaceutical companies, if the cannabis is passed as a drug for health issues. Maybe that’s why lawmakers haven’t maybe won’t pass the law to legalize Marijuana. Yes the companies can get involved but then somehow it will get corrupt and won’t benefit the citizens.
This subject has been debated numerous times over the past few years. People’s points of view and researches about the topic have varied greatly. Some people believe that marijuana should be legalized, while the rest feel should stay prohibited. Proponents of marijuana argue that there are numerous medical benefits and that the drug is not more harmful than tobacco or alcohol. On the other hand, opponents argue that marijuana is too dangerous; its legalization would increase the chances of the drug falling into the hands of teens and that marijuana use often progresses to the use of more dangerous drugs like heroin and cocaine.
The age old debate of whether marijuana should be legalized or not has been a discussion for years among the public and throughout the country. The United States currently four states in which recreational marijuana is legal, along with 20 other states where medical marijuana is legal. The argument that always comes up in discussion is that marijuana is less or no more dangerous than alcohol. These comments are hardly ever backed up with statistics or data.
People believe that if marijuana is legalized users will get addicted. Marijuana use disorder become what is known as addiction when “the person cannot stop using the drug even though it interferes with many aspects of his or her life” (“Is Marijuana Addictive”). Although addiction is a problem, out of all the people who use marijuana, only 9% become dependent on it (“Is Marijuana Addictive”). Also, opioids and painkillers are very addictive as well, and they can lead to an overdose resulting in death. The second concern is abuse.
Marijuana is the most public used drug in the United States. However, it has the distinct difference of being both a usually used illegal substance and also a legally prescribed medical substance in the United States. I am a strong believer in the legalization of Marijuana. This prescribed drug has been proven to not only help certain medical conditions but can cure and prevent Alzheimer and Glaucoma, it can also contribute to relieving stress, anxiety, depression, the drug has the ability that slows down tumor growth, and helps relieve pain for chemo and radiation therapy patients as well. If legalized, marijuana can be taxed which produce billions of dollars every year in profit which in return would help our nation get out of so much debt.
Research about marijuana usage is expanding and people is really starting to understand it. I believed marijuana should be legalized for several reasons. It has good purposes and if its legalized it will give researches a better understand of its usage. Studies had shown that marijuana could help manage chronic pain and muscle spasms. The major mechanism through which legalization is likely to increase recreational cannabis use is by substantially reducing the price of cannabis (Hall & Lynskey, 2016).
Marijuana is easy to cultivate. It is illegal to cultivate a lot at once because even though the state allows it because the federal government never legalized it. In the end, it would greatly help the country and we would
Since 2002, a survey found the use of marijuana by everyday Americans has doubled, and will most likely continue to grow. Cannabis, which is better known as Marijuana, is a plant that produces buds that can be smoked, vaporized, manufactured into an extract, and even cooked with food to eat. Already 23 states in the United States have loosened the laws on marijuana, but still place heavy restrictions on the drug. I believe marijuana should be legalized all over the U.S. because of the fact it truly helps people with illnesses, and though some people express concern about “atrocious” effects of the drug, too many cops are focused on arrests for marijuana.
Marijuana should remain illegal in the United States, and states that have passed laws to make it legal should reverse those laws. Marijuana is addictive and a gateway drug. Legalizing marijuana will make it generally more available to the public, which will also make it more likely to be used by young adults and children that are not old enough to make smart decisions regarding drug
Starting from the beginning, I will tell you what marijuana - also called grass, ganja, pot, and various other slang terms - is. Marijuana comes from the Indian hemp plant and is the greenish-brown mixture of the dried flowers of cannabis sativa. When I was younger I used to believe that speaking positively about Marijuana, makes you look like a bad personage or either worse, a criminal. This opinion was based on the false information media produced and on the government laws of my country. However, by enhancing my knowledge, I have decided that cannabis offers so much to humanity, that not only it has many benefits, it has to be legalized.
Should Marijuana be legal for medical use and recreational use? According to Renee Jacques Marijuana is safer than already legalized drugs. So if it's safer than those other drugs then why isn't it legalized now? Also Marijuana is not as addictive as government sources claim as said by Tom Head civil liberties expert. People have mixed feelings about marijuana being legal, but it should be!
Cons of Legalizing Recreational Marijuana Marijuana legalization, for whatever reason, has been a topic of heated debate for years now. Different people express different opinions about why or why not it should be legalized for recreational use. The American FDA categorizes marijuana as a Schedule I drug meaning that its benefits are not guaranteed as many people claim. Although the drug has been said to contain medical benefits, the reality is that further research on how and when to use it is needed. Different states have legalized the use of Marijuana for medical reasons.
The legalization of marijuana has widespread benefits for the medical, law enforcement, and economic sectors. Marijuana has a variety of benefits in the medical field because it can control many side effects from different diseases. For instance, cancer is a deadly disease that kills over seven million people across the world every year. Patients diagnosed with cancer go through several painful treatments such as surgery and chemotherapy. Thankfully, marijuana helps to alleviate pain and suppress nausea from cancer treatments.
Marijuana has many uses in the medical world and I think that it is important to use it to its greatest potential. There’s also the argument that marijuana is addictive. There are so many drugs out there that are far more addictive than marijuana, like opioids, which by the way are pain relievers that are highly
Many scientists have discussed about how “studies of long-term marijuana consumers have not been done . . . our knowledge of the drug’s chronic effects is still limited” (Sullivan). Marijuana has not been around for as long as other drugs such as tobacco and alcohol have. However, as marijuana continues to be around for longer and longer, scientists feel the need to research the effects that is has in order to inform the public if it something we should worry about or not.
