Mdg 202 Week 1 Reflection

In 2011, Avi Weisfogel created the innovative medical information program, “Healthy Heart Sleep” and “Owner Unlimited Sleep Patients,” informing medical practitioners and dentists about sleep apnea. To coincide with the initial two programs, Avi Weisfogel established “Dental Sleep Masters,” a program informing dentists the proper use of oral devices when working with sleep apnea patients. Avi believes there is a direct correlation between sleep apnea and dental issues. He is a graduate of Rutgers University, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, holding Psychology and Biology degrees and earned his dental degree-DDS-from the College of Dentistry at New York University. Avi is compassionate about what he does and always has time for helping others.

I had a wonder semester in LSIS 4505. The three things that I learned during this course is how to make a lesson plan, what books are banned and challenged in different districts, and bibliotherapy books. It takes times to make a lesson plan. Sometimes your lesson plan does not always go as plan. When my teacher first assigned this, I was nervous because this was my first time making one.

Upon discovering the advertising industry through the American Advertising Federation Medgar Evers College Chapter, where I served as the Treasurer and Strategic Planner, I fortunately landed my first internship with the Omnicom Medgar Evers College Associates program where I was placed at DDB Worldwide as an account management on the State Farm account. Landing such an opportunity has reinforced my belief that advertising is an arena where I can challenge myself through critical thinking, creativity and innovation. Thus, I went on to applying to the 4A’s Multicultural Advertising Internship Program and was placed at Grey Group New York, providing account management support to the Hasbro Boys team. These two internships have given me an excellent opportunity to apply and enhance my prior academic and industry experience while learning from fellow interns as I establish a solid

I was most engaged in this course when I was doing the research for this paper. Filtering through all the research and figuring out what is valuable information was the most exciting part for me. Additionally, finding information and connecting it to a suspect is the most satisfying part of my job. Writing the actual research paper has been the second most engaging thing during this course. It is difficult for me because I know I am not a great writer, but there are improvements in my writing since starting college.

I am the type of person who gets anxious making a phone call, but has the ability to feel completely at ease wandering around an unfamiliar city with only the slightest knowledge of how to get wherever it is I am going. There is something very satisfying about meeting new people and exploring places I’ve never been before. For someone who has always preferred to keep to herself, I have an overwhelming curiosity about the world around me, and I dedicate a lot of my time trying to understand the people in it. When I was little, maybe around five or six, I would play this game where every time strangers caught my attention, I would make up a story about how and why they met, and write about how they ended up in the same place as me. The tone of the group leader was calming and encouraging; his voice felt reassuring and affirming that ultimately empowering by simply sharing his stories. The open format felt genuine in nature and the group appeared cohesive. Reoccurring themes for most speakers were difficulties in identifying their feelings, perceive themselves as completely unselfish and dedicated to the well-being of others. Listening to others sharing their struggles, I began to access my life and codependent tendency that I may exhibit.

Personal Statement for Nursing School “When a person decides to become a Nurse. They make the most important decision of their lives. They choose to dedicate themselves to the care of others” Growing up in Nigeria; I had my first introduction to the field of medicine at the age of 6. At the time, my grand father was a holistic doctor at my local community. Whenever my grandfather went to work, he would take me with him and I remembered being very fascinated by how people would come in to get treatments for different kinds of diseases.

Hi Professor Fernandez, This is Kim Phuong Nguyen. I took your Chemistry 110 course Spring 2015 and I found it to be one of the most enjoyable courses I have ever taken. You may not remember me, as I often came into lab on Mondays when you were there. Chemistry has always been a more challenging course for me, but I was very proud of that A I received from your class.

English 102 Reflection During the course of English 102, I took this year of the spring semester. I have accomplished a variety of goals I once thought were impossible. I have not only grown as a writer and a student but as an individual as well. I feel that through my experience of this English course, I have achieved knowledge and self-confidence to step out into the real world.

Regarding effective communication, “good interpretation and good translation go a long way toward solving cross-cultural communication problems and language barriers in health care” (Dreachslin, Gilbert & Malone, 2013, p. 289). These services, through interpreters or voice-assisted devices, provide better opportunities to blend cultures and understand the tradition and beliefs of diverse populations. These two topics were just samplings of the information discussed, but they stuck out to me on a personal level, while pushing me to promote cultural competence and understanding beyond this course in all my future workplace

Great post, Bill! I also enjoyed listening to the guest speakers from the acute care setting. I’ve anticipated working in a hospital for quite some time; however, I didn’t realize how fast pace of a setting it actually was. Swallowing is a characteristic of Speech-Language Pathology that is intriguing to me, so I appreciated their opinions of swallowing evaluations and studies. REFLECTION OF THE INTERVIEW 2.1 Description A component of the Effective Communication module, is an Inter-professional Education (IPE) enrichment activity and we were put into groups with the Pharmacy students. There were in total 2 Nursing students and 3 Pharmacy students. We were tasked to interview a healthcare professional. We interviewed Dr Edwin Lim from Tzu Chi Free Health Screening and Free Clinic (TCFC). He specialises in Family Medicine.

I believe my group worked well together as a team by incorporating Team STEPPS and ensuring that each member of the team was contributed equally. Reflective practice has allowed for issues to be identified, this has allowed for improvements in future practice. This is because this assignment has allowed for me to incorporate Team STEPPS and will assist in the future whilst working with other health care professionals as a team. When reflecting on group work, it was difficult to find a time for each member of the group to meet up for a meeting prior to filming the video and to film the video. This was because each member has their own schedule, and it was difficult to line our schedules up.

The doctor’s use of jargon instead of a common term creates physical noise and prevents the mother from decoding the message, causing a communication breakdown that is shown in the mother’s response. The doctor tries to professionally deliver the results, but his choice of jargon creates physical noise. In the doctor’s message, the nonverbal elements convey that the doctor is professional and capable. His use of kinesics, such as strong eye contact and a calm facial expression, and paralanguage of a basically monotone voice shows that he is polite and trying to deliver his message effectively.

Each patient represents a specific case who has different background, personality, preference and conditions. Thus, it is important for practitioner to learn from each patient and document it for future reference. Scene
