Life is presented with a turning point, or life changing experiences, whether it is good or bad. Some people who had a life changing experiences had changed their lives, and also their countries’ lives. Three people that had a turning point in their lives are, Melba Pattillo Beals from memoir Warriors don’t ryWarriors Don’t Cry, Jackie Robinson from autobiography I Never Had It Made, and “The Father of Chinese Aviation” by Rebecca Maksel, which highlights Feng Ru. Melba Pattillo Beals, Jackie Robinson, and Feng Ru had affected their country, and their lives. They affected their country and their lives because they inspired many people, faced life changing experiences, and made an achievement for their own country.
Melba Pattillo Beals, an African American women, helped improving education for other African American kids. In paragraph 18, it states, “Step by step we climbed upward-where none of my people had ever before walked as a student. We stepped up the front door of Central High School and crossed the threshold into that place where angry segregationist mobs had forbidden us to go.” This quote explains that she was one of the first African American to go to the segregated school by protection of the “fifty uniformed soldiers of the 101st”. Georgia Gilmore courageously fought for the civil rights movement despite all that was against her. Her actions inspired many people to do the same. Georgia Gilmore was an African American woman that lived in Montgomery, Alabama, and participated in the Montgomery bus boycott by fundraising for the organization, Club from Nowhere.

Directed and written by Brian Helgeland, 42 is a movie that not only highlights the negativity that Mr. Robinson faced, but also tells a great story of how he overcame such a dark moment in his career. The movie was produced by Thomas Tull in 2013, staring Chadwick Boseman (Jackie Robinson), Harrison Ford (Branch Rickey), and Christopher Meloni (Leo Durocher). I was able to watch this movie with my family. Not only was it informative, but also entertaining.

Washington proved that former slaves could become educational leaders. Jonathan Gibbs was a Reconstruction carpetbagger who served first as a missionary and then as a non-elected government leader.
They represented the interests of all African Americans, and they started to make decisions based on ones which would make their lives better, because they still faced many hard ships even though they were now equal to whites. African Americans greatly shaped the outcome and consequences of the Civil War. They were the cause of it, they played a key role in the battles, and they effected the political make up regarding African Americans, of not only the South, but the whole country. If the African Americans had not played a role in the war, the north may have still won because of their size, but the odds are that there would still be slavery and or segregation in the United States

Daisy Bates was the author of a memoir titled The Long Shadow of Little Rock 1962. Bates discusses the trials and tribulations she faced throughout her childhood and into adulthood. Daisy Bates helped nine African American students, known as the Little Rock Nine to desegregate Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas in the fall of 1957. She published a weekly African American newspaper, the Arkansas State Press. The African Americans had a big impact on the Civil War. They had to have all of these laws and papers wrote because of the slavery deal. They had the role of the debate for slavery. They were the slaves and they wanted to have their freedom. The Declaration of Independence said that, “All men are created equal”, but the slaves were not free.
Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, and Ruby Bridges changed the civil rights movement and segregation forever; it will never be the same because of them. African Americans wanted to end racial discrimination and gain the right to vote and wanted to do everything whites can do. The African Americans wanted to end/change the Jim Crow Laws. The Jim Crow Laws were in place so African Americans and whites do not have to use the same places. Some examples were segregation took place were in local bathrooms, movie theaters, and doctors offices and in many more places.
