The transition from Middle School to High School is extremely different on many levels. Many people that have already made their transition describe their Middle School experience as demanding and challenging. Be aware that in High School, you are given more freedom and opportunities. The size of the school is changed drastically. You need to come to the reality that you are surrounded by peoples who are four years older than you, adults. This allows you to be more prepared to enter college and the “real world”. In Lawrence Middle School, you are prohibited to wear certain apparel such as flip flops, shorts on the shorter side, thin straps on shirts, and more. In Lawrence High School, the administrators are more lenient, although if …show more content…
You will be given a packet of required courses to take such as fine arts, economics or principles of investing, and a 21st century class. Also, you are required to take swimming classes for gym. You have around seven minutes to get dressed, and after the swimming class if over, you are given about fifteen minutes to shower and get to put dry clothes on. You may pick your electives, but as a freshman or sophomore, you are limited to certain electives, so when you are in eleventh and twelfth grade, you will be able to chose from a larger variety. I highly suggest that you complete your required classes by the end of your sophomore year. It will be beneficial to choose from more desired classes junior year because you are finally given that opportunity. The electives you choose can help discover your passions and your career path. So if you choose to apply to college, you have background information from your electives that could prepare you for your major. If you feel overwhelmed, you could choose to take a study hall to relieve stress. During this period, you may work on your homework, study for tests, or take a break. Although I do not suggest taking this class during your freshman year, it is always an …show more content…

Transitioning from high school to Middle College requires a surplus of mental strength. In order to successfully transition to Middle College I had stop relying on others and become independent. At first, the thought of leaving my friends and being alone in a new school on a college campus, filled with many students is considered immensely frightening. However, I was
As a freshman the transition was some what difficult for me. These are somethings I think would be good to new for the middle schoolers that are tranistioning into highschool. First keep organized. I can 't stress that enough because if you don 't you will lose things really easy and become a real mess. Another thing is a personal opinion but I don 't think that going to your locker every passing period is a good idea.
For many adolescents entering middle school is an overwhelming and anxious experience. It's a time of transition and offers a whole new learning experience that is very different from elementary school. Students are used to being with the same students and one main teacher throughout the day in a self contained classroom. The elementary teachers get to know the students very well and a safe and comfortable
Yet, because my major may not require me to use some skills useful in this course, I reached the argument that although most of the assignments made in this course can be irrelevant for my course, the analysis and the audience can be significant for my success in my major due to their multifunctional
High school and middle school are, in my mind, almost completely separate entities. Though, there is a lot to be said about the similarities between the two. High school has much more freedom than middle school has ever and will ever have. In high school students get to pick their own classes, get more food at lunch, and even participate in more activities. Middle school, on the other hand, is a very different ball game.
You also have to do a profile which is easy points. One thing I did during this class was put all my warm ups, notes and worksheets for that lesson in one folder. So when it came to making a profile you have everything together. I did have difficulties in this class like how fast it went. It is an Honor class but at times I felt we just thing a subject and we was already taking a test.
I moved from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Washington, DC in the summer before the ninth grade and with that transition came four major obstacles that rocked my ecosystem which eventually negatively affected my grades freshman year. First, the move right before high school was a difficult time for me, because I had to restart my social life, and because of that, I spent the earlier parts of the school year reaching out and trying to make friends during times where I should have been working on assignments. Secondly, the rigor of Sidwell 's curriculum was hundreds of times more intense than that of my previous school. This was not just because I was making the leap from middle school to high school. But when I was at a school where I was a year
My view of the world changed a ton after taking this class. Before taking this class, I didn't know much about other countries, and what was happening around the world, but now I know what is happening worldwide. At the beginning of the school year, all of my friends were talking about how hard this class was supposed to be, and telling me I might should
Well, the eight weeks went by very quickly. I found the class to be too quick. There was entirely too much to learn. I wish it was longer! So throughout the class I found two significant subjects.
Throughout this course I had to read a different chapter every week and had at least 3 assignments due at the end of each week. This was extremely challenging for me because I was already taking two other classes as well and working a part-time job. I ended up receiving a D because I had to join my family on an emergency trip to Mexico; therefore, not allowing me to finish my final project since I had no access to the internet. So,
Both High Schools and Middle school are tailored towards giving their students the knowledge that they need to learn. The physical environments, as well as the organizational routines, tends to be very similar, yet the feeling and psychological backdrop differs. A middle school is more of an older child's playground while junior high school is a simulation of the real world. Middle schools tend to be student oriented while junior high schools are subject
Susan Brackman’s syllabus consists of multiple aspects I am required to choose three topics that I believe are important to me and how I think those are the most appealed to me. According to Zooey Deschanel, nothing can be as hard as middle school. I was a big scaredy cat when I started middle school in 5th grade. My guts were flipping and flopping on that first day. Even though I didn’t know any teachers or friends, I made new friends and met new teachers. I had Mrs. Wherley as a homeroom teacher, she was nice as pie to me.
High school grows you into the person you are. I have great memories, good and bad, some learning experiences and some that I’ll take with me the rest of my life. My high school experience has influenced my development as a person inside and outside of the class by making me more independent, choosing friends wisely and teachers motivating me to attend college and accomplish goals I have set for myself. I have gained my independence slowly throughout high school. The importance of being independent is being secure with who you are and what you believe in.
