From the moment I was accepted into the Milgard School of Business through the freshman direct program I knew that I would soon be introduced to a whole new spectrum of academic and career opportunities. For this being my first year within Milgard and the University of Washington Tacoma, I have become highly involved as a Milgard business student, Student Center Assistant for the University’s Center for Student Involvement, and resident at Court 17 while still maintaining a scholarship status in the Dean’s List with a 3.73 GPA. I can say with confidence that Milgard has allowed me to tap into my full potential as a purpose-driven student and an individual getting ready to enter the workforce.
Relating to my involvement within the school,

After taking the 300-level core business classes and participating in Milgard’s Case Competition, I finally realized what field I wanted to proceed into. Having an affinity for understanding, researching, story telling, design, and creativity, I knew that I wanted to pursue a marketing major. My passion for marketing has since grown, as I take 400-level marketing courses, run an online advertising campaign through my participation in the Google Online Marketing Challenge, run a campaign as a candidate for ASUWT Milgard’s Business Senator, and devote to personal online studies of marketing tools through HubSpot and Google Analytics. Someday I would like to create memorable campaigns that raise brand awareness of organizations that are making efforts to alleviate important social problems. I hope to become one of the few female Pacific Islander marketing directors out there. In terms of my short-term goals, I am aiming to obtain my Bachelor’s degree, enter into Milgard’s Master of Science in Business Analytics Program, find an entry-level position in the career of Marketing, and support my siblings’ financially when they attend college. My life long goal is to engage in activities that allow for continuous self-improvement and
Christina Funk, junior, established a new organization that will benefit incoming freshman and returning students in their academics, student involvement, and social life. Funk’s organization, Students4Students was created in the beginning of August and has already over 50 official members in this organization. Students4Students consist of mentors known as Wolves and mentees known was Pups. Mentors must have attended University of West Georgia for a least a year and obtain a 2.7 GPA or higher. Most mentees are freshman who would like guidance during their first year of college.
As I strive to achieve great academic success and leadership at Montana State University, I hope that my previous experiences will catalyze this process. Using my interests in academics, participation in extracurricular activities, and my own strengths, I hope to become a strong leader. I know I can achieve being both a scholar and an example for other students by utilizing my previous experiences. When I start my journey at Montana State, I expect to find students with common academic interests as myself. My goal is to connect with these students, who appreciate education in a similar way I do, in order to help each other understand topics or lessons that we will learn.
Warrensburg Missouri, being a college town, is full of many opportunities such as joining Greek life, getting internships, and most impotently getting a college degree. Being the first to attend college in my family, I have been self-motivated to attend class’s everyday on a daily bases and even build time into my schedule to study for quizzes and exams. For the past four months, I have been attending the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg. Therefore, I have learned the highs and lows of being a college student at the university. Being a college student at UCM in Warrensburg has many lows.
A major goal of mine is to be able to travel, not only to see other parts of the world, but also to see how different cultures and the people in them operate. I have always been fascinated by people and am specifically interested in the drives behind humans. Missouri State has led me to a passion for religious studies, which is a major
After graduating from MHS, the next challenge in my mission to ascend from my circumstances was to become the best student at The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State). With consideration of my mother not graduating high school, it was imperative and self- driving that I reward her sacrifices by excelling in my academic career. Eager to outperform, consequently, I earned the Smeal Merit Diversity Scholarship for three consecutive years (Freshmen-Junior) at Penn State. This prestigious scholarship is only awarded to the top five minority business students at Penn State. In addition to my academic successes, I became very active on campus and served as a leader at the top of four different campus-organizations.
I choose to pursue a doctoral degree at Walden to further my knowledge in the business world (Beno, 2016). The pursuit of a doctoral degree would benefit my personal assessment, growth, and future business success (Basar, Altinay, Dagli, & Altinay, 2016). My Professional Development Plan will allow me to reach out and assist society with my business knowledge for change (Barker, 2014, p. 10).
I am first generation college student. I started Florida Gulf Coast University four years after I migrated from Jamaica along with my Dad, in pursuits of “an opportunity”- something that is very scarce outside of the continental United States. Before coming to FGCU, I went to Miramar High School; I graduated with honors and promised my Dad that within four years I would bring home my bachelors degree in Finance. August 14th, 2013 marked move in day at Florida Gulf Coast University. My first few weeks at Florida Gulf Coast University introduced me to the dreariest days and nights of my life.
To me, this comes in the form of attending APU’s Educational and Clinical Counseling program and pursuing a career that allows me to demonstrate my ability in helping others achieve their goals. The rigorous design of this program will be a challenge to my academic grit and a testament to the skills I developed during my three years as a UCR undergraduate. The teachings and standards of this program will serve as a means of evaluating my professional experience after dedicating the last four years to supporting low-income students of color in a school environment. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have also grown as a person by developing my conscientious, agreeable, and inquisitive personality traits that allow me to create healthy relationships and remain optimistic for the future. My academic, professional, and personal characteristics have revealed a road leading to APU’s Educational and Clinical Counseling program and I wish to materialize my vision alongside this
Being an active member within my school community is something that has always been of importance to me. During my time at the University of Rhode Island (URI), I have been heavily involved in many organizations and have held different leadership roles all while excelling in my academics. Since my time at URI I have been a consecutive member of the Dean’s List with a GPA of 3.83. Although I am very passionate about my academics, it is my involvements and leadership roles that make my time so enjoyable. I am s second year Resident Advisor as well as a second year URI 101 Mentor.
Many goals of mine manifest in education. Providing myself opportunities to
As a woman, coming from a foreign country, needing to succeed in an environment where men historically dominate the business world, with aspirations of establishing a culturally-focused business, I’m going to benefit greatly by interacting with other students with similar challenges, aspirations, and experiences. For instance, I can’t wait to be an active member of Women in Business and hear how other women have addressed some of the challenges I’ve faced in Mexico over the last few years. And it will be exciting to join the Foster Marketing Association to ponder with like-minded students how all aspects of marketing need to rapidly evolve, adapt, and take advantage of the rapid pace of technological
You want to ensure that with proper planning and dedication; you can reach these goals. For myself, I have developed several short term goals. First I need to continue pursuing my Vocal Music Education degree at Arkansas State University. This degree is necessary to improve my skills at a performer, and to enhance my ability to teach voice. Without a
Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals. My lifetime goal is to travel the world and study how different cultures influence the business of fashion. I believe through exploring varying cultures and exchanges, I will be an asset to stores, magazines, or film productions. As excited as I am to see the beauty, learn about the history and study the design, I am really eager to learn how to run a successful business.
"Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible", (Tony Robbins). This indicates striving to be successful even if it means failure. I plan on achieving my main goal so I can have a bright future in my career path. In order to achieve my life goal, I have already begun to work towards my goal and I plan to continue with an organized plan. Both short-term and long-term goals will help me set a better understanding of a successful future.
One of my goals is to graduate with honors. When completing my Bachelor’s Degree one of my goals would be to attend the Great Plains Convention. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree I would at that point pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Emporia State University. After receiving a Master’s Degree I would wish to open my own private practice and practice therapy for families.
