Animal cruelty is growing rapidly in today's society, and the popularity is vast among the nation. Animal abuse can be simply leaving a dog in the car while one quickly runs into the grocery store for a couple of minutes. Due to this, many commit the crime without knowing it.

New technologies that people had never imagined a decade, or even some decades ago, are now expanding and changing all our lives. Taking smartphones as an example, people in old time had never imagined that small, tiny box could enable people to bring smart computer to everywhere. Yet, smartphones are now completely embedded into our lives and changed how we communicate. Technology lets us live simply, more conveniently, and more easily, but at the same time, it creates complex debates and controversies of ethical problems. In this world, where humans cannot live without the benefits of technology, it is impossible to ignore ethical problems.

The “It’s Not Normal Argument” against transhumanism stresses the difference between therapy and enhancement. Genetic therapy is ethically acceptable because it tries to reestablish “normal” species functioning, whereas enhancement is ethically wrong because it exceeds the “normal” function of the human species. For this essay I decided to interview Brenda Braun who works at Peninsula Veterinary Service in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Brenda has been working at Peninsula for 10 years,but as a Veterinary Technician for 17 years. I got a chance to talk to her over the phone about her experiences working with animals and the people that own them. Having so many years of experience means Brenda has seen some interesting cases. One recent case that she was telling me about was one where this woman thought that her dog could see ghosts.
