I was on the affirmative team (that the aristocrats were worse than the bloodthirsty townsmen) What were the most effective points your team made? The most effective points my team made was the lack of clemency the aristocrats gave to the townspeople. The aristocrats also killed 250,000 townsmen vs the 40,000 aristocrats the townsmen killed. This was an effective point because it focuses on the reason why the townspeople rebelled, the townsmen only reflected the crultey that the aristocrats gave. What were the most effective points the other team made? The most effective points the other team made was lack of moral from the townsmen, they hunted down and killed many aristocrats. The other team also referenced from the bible, saying “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also” they stated this saying the townsmen had no mercy and had no moral that the bible taught them. Their points were effective because it focuses on that fact that the townsmen had no moral and the revolution wouldn’t have happened so …show more content…
Why? The negative because they proved that anger isnt a concrete reason why the townsmen were so bloodthirsty and murderous. When they were referncing the Bible, it states that people should not reflect the evil done to them but to forgive them for their sins. Did you change your mind from your original view point? No because personally I focus on the causes of things, such as the cause of the Americain Revolution. The cause of the Americain Revolution was the lack of represention in Government affairs, the cause of the French Revolution was mainly the aristocrats ability to inflict all of the fincantinal problems on the poor (being able not to pay taxes) and the crulety the nobles implanted onto the
C. I believe that Richard is right in thinking this is a victory, because as a young boy, he has successfully rebelled against his cruel father, by not actually rebelling. It is a victory because his parents were shook by his action, but they couldn’t punish him because all he did was obey his father’s orders. D. Wright’s mother is a positive influence on his life because she teaches him important life lesson such as learning from your mistakes, self defense, and she even starts teaching him how to read. On the other hand, his mother is also a negative influence because she forces him to fight boys and leaves him and his brother home alone, without watch, or care everyday. I believe that her positive attributes are more apparent
The Boston Massacre, which passage includes more evidence and support towards facts about the Massacre? Passage number 2 provides more evidence and support than the first passage. This doesn’t mean that the first passage doesn’t do good, this just means that the passage number 2 does a better job at explaining the stuff. Both of the passages give reasonsings for what the Massacre is, but passage 2 has a better and more appropriate explanation. Usually people say quality over quantity, but even though Passage 2 is longer, it still is the most efficient passage to go along with the Boston Massacre.
The French Revolution was a revolution in France from 1789 to 1799. It also led to the end of the monarchy, and to many other wars. But every revolution has a cause right? Whether it be a major argument or one person's different belief, it’s still a start. The causes of the French Revolution were a lack of guidance, an unstable economy, and ideas from the American Revolution.
In the distorted town of Salem, Massachusetts, opposing opinions caused its inhabitants to turn against each other. What drove them was trying to save their own lives, the possibility of gaining something for themselves, or rarely, to save someone else’s life. In literature and real life, a character or person that agrees with the ideals of a community is likely to stand with the group because they want to show their
These examples show how propaganda was used at that time to alter the colonists perception of the event and lead them to believe that the soldiers had massacred the colonists. Propaganda incorrectly promoted the affair as a massacre when in reality, the situation does not fit the phrase
This was one of the few little controversies against this book. However, this story does demonstrate the act of forgiveness which the Bible supports as being a key trait in a good person, because Jesus, the most perfect human to ever walk this earth could forgive all of the human race’s past, present, and future sins. If he can do all that, forgiving someone for, in the long run, a little wrong doing, is nothing at
The American Revolution was a war based off principles, and fought by both Loyalists and Patriots. The Loyalists believed that without the kings rule they would lose their fortune, be in chaos, and mob rule; however some were just against the brutality of war. Now the Patriots were complete opposites, patriots believed in principles, freedom;to be free from taxes, the king, the tranny they faced under the rule of the king, to be able to speak when and where you want, and to practice the religion they believe in; but who was actually right the Patriots or the Loyalists. In the novel, My Brother Sam is Dead a family struggles with the decision of being Loyalists or Patriots. War is negative because of the injustice of Life, Jerry, and Sam’s death, all of which convince Tim to become neutral.
In times of oppression, mankind has always been known to stand up and fight for a good cause, and the American Revolution was no exception. Held down by the wickedness of the British Empire for some time, America had finally had enough. One voice that stood out in the colonies was that of Patrick Henry. He was an elective of the House of Burgesses and delivered many speeches on the need for revolution. One of his most famous speeches is the “Speech in the Virginia Convention.”

French overthrew their internal government, while Haiti overthrew their external government. The French revolution was the start of enlightenment ideas coming into place in Europe. The french were in debt The French monarchs had unlimited power and also declared themselves as representatives of god. This revolution stirred among the French leading to the rise of Napoleon. In this persuasive essay, I will talk about why Bunker Hill was one of the most important battles in the revolutionary war. There are three main reasons why Bunker hill was the most important battle. This battle showed the colonists that they are ready to fight in the war. In addition to that, this battle was a huge moral boost to the colonists. Even though the colonist didn’t win, it lead to many sacrifices on the British side.
May 5, 1789, the beginning of the infamous French Revolution. Historians around the world studied the causes of the French Revolution, arguably regarded as one of the most important events in human history. Many important ideologies were developed during this time period. The current western political philosophies in France is the result of the French Revolution which introduced the principles of civic equality and popular sovereignty that challenged the historical Three Estates. Following many European reform trends, France in 1789 began their own major reform that lasted nearly a decade.
Other historians on the French revolution have a different view on what may have caused the French revolution. George Lefebvre is one of those historians, he believes aristocracy revolting is what started the revolution. Looking more in depth at both of their arguments the reader will see how each writer argues their side based on what they feel is important.
Opening paragraph The French Revolution was a major failure and a minor success. After all of the blood shed, the laws, civil rights, and codes did not get instituted effectively and did not represent the values that the citizens had fought for. Examples of this were the Napoleonic Code and Declaration of Rights of Man. Another reason it was a failure was because during the revolts and reforms more than 40,000 men and women died.
The French Revolution was undoubtedly influenced by the political theorists of the Enlightenment. The ideas of two French political theorists in particular are easily seen throughout the French Revolution, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Baron Montesquieu. Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s thoughts and texts, such as the Social Contract, instilled the entitlement of basic human rights to all men. Rousseau’s concepts on rights combined with Baron Montesquieu’s ideas on government provided the backbone of a radical movement in the French Revolution known as the Terror. When one delves into the beginnings of the French Revolution, the motives and actions of the National Assembly, and the Terror of the French Revolution, one can obviously see the influence of two Enlightenment political theorists, Rousseau and Montesquieu.
