All worker will work only if the reward is attractive enough, for the punishment sufficiently disagreeable. The various leading theories of motivation and motivators seldom make reference to the carrot and the stick. Of course, for the use of rewards and penalties of this metaphor related, is in order to induce desired behavior. It comes from the old story that to make a donkey move, one must put a carrot in front of it or pat it with a stick from behind. It is named in reference to a cart driver dangling a carrot in front of a mule and holding a stick behind it. Due to the food in front of the mule, the mule would move forwards to the carrot because it wants the reward of food, it become a motivation for the mule , at the same time, it also moving away from the stick behind it, since it does not want the punishment of pain, it also become a motivation for it to far away from punishment, because of this story, thus drawing the cart.. Supported by the fact that the mule cannot …show more content…

Looking back on this movie, there were numerous instances that I really felt the religious impact of the film, and the search that the main character was on. From going back home from the war and all that happened, to living normal life again, and then going to various places looking for something. It was a pure aspect of searching for a higher calling, or looking for explanations that are not available to the every day person. How The Razor’s Edge depicted Hinduism was a little soft in my opinion, it is not an in your face kind of religion like some of them out there. It did however, really bring into light the various degrees that one must go when you are walking the path in search for a higher power.
In the story, the rabbit was very cheerful and optimistic and threw himself into looking for the carrot, totally convinced that he would find it. This event in the plot shows that the rabbit has the positive attitude needed for the task at hand, even though it may be a daunting task. In the resolution of the story, the rabbit dug a tunnel to right under where the dog had been lying all that time, and there he found the bone. Because of this, the readers are well aware of how the pessimism, bad attitude, of the dog kept him from finding the prize.
Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point, has become a fad in recent years. His logical breakdown of psychology for the everyday person and his interesting take on things created an epidemic much like he described in his book The Tipping Point. In this book, he describes his theory of the Three Rules of Epidemics which include Law of the Few along with the Stickiness Factor and the Power of Context. Many scholars accuse Gladwell of being a storyteller with oversimplified factual evidence that leans towards his point, and I agree. At first, when I read the book, it made sense, but after reading the articles, I agree that he links studies and facts with information to make it believable.
In the world we live in today, everyone has an opinion on what’s going on, rather it’s a news reporter, magazine blog, social media or maybe it’s just journalists. Everything argues upon “they say” versus what “I say”, which is extremely significant because everyone’s opinion is effective to someone. Likewise, in the two articles, “Watching TV Makes You Smarter” and “Thinking Outside of the Idiot Box”, both the authors created arguments on whether television makes you “smarter”, or not. In the article, “Watching TV Makes You Smarter”, the author, Steve Johnson, argues that television is significant to the brain.
