Bob Brecher’s argument is centered around being a counter-claim to Dershowitz’ Ticking Bomb scenario. The counter-claim argues that a ticking bomb scenario, as described by Dershowtiz, is unlikely to occur in the real world, due to the difficulty in apprehending a terrorist after the terrorist plot has been set in motion, but has not yet been fully executed. Even if the authorities are lucky enough to apprehend the suspect before the ticking bomb has been set to detonate, it is improbable that torture would result in the suspect revealing the plot before the bomb goes off. Brecher additionally argues that Dershowitz’ idea of using legalized torture warrants to limit torture would, on the contrary, lead to the abuse of the torture warrant system.
Many people seem to seek to fame and glory, however, some of the heroes we do not recognize are those who save the day, but whose stories are not told. Martha Montez had gone to work early on a summer morning to direct the morning shift and produce as many cards as she could. She had reported to her boss’, Lynn Gill, office and followed all directions to make sure the cards would be produced good and fast enough. Her luck would soon change and she would soon have the office to herself.

The author, Jan Librach argues that the demonstration of force that was used to conquer the nation of Ukraine, was the beginning stages of Russia’s conquest to suppress the surrounding nations of Eastern Europe, creating the surge of Russia’s determination for preservation of its empire and destroying nationalism throughout the countries they possessed authoritarian rule. Librach proves the argument by providing evidence of demand for independence by the Ukrainian Central Rada (council), for the nation of Ukraine after the news of the Russian Revolution spread throughout the world. He provides a quote from the document, “Communist Take Over & Occupation of Ukraine” from the Select Committee on Communist Aggression, which provides documentation
Leslie Snyder builds an argument to persuade the audience that exposure to alcohol advertising increases alcohol consumption in youth by using evidence, such as facts or examples, to support her claims. Snyder proves that alcohol related advertising was due to the increase in drinking. Money spent on alcohol related advertising was also due to an increase in drinking. Snyder also explains when an under age drinker is exposed to high levels of alcohol advertisements the results are increased rather than decreased. Snyder uses these few examples to support her claim that the money spent on alcohol advertising and the exposure to alcohol advertising affects alcohol consumption by youth.
In this paper, I will focus on Bonnie Steinbock’s claim on whether or not we should give equal moral consideration to species outside our own species group. I will first determine what moral concern means, according to Peter singer, and explain how he views the human treatment of animals. I will then outline Steinbock’s argument against Singer’s position and explain how her criticism is part of a much broader issue: that is moral concern. I will finally make my argument against Steinbock as well as address any issues she could possibly raise against my argument. Peter Singer believed that all species, whether it be human or non-human, deserve equal consideration of interests and quality of life.

While the choice of whether to remain loyal to the crown or join the revolution became popular in the late eighteenth century, two men, Jonathan Boucher and Thomas Paine, decided to voice their beliefs and later became well known for their arguments. Though Boucher stated strong points about why remaining loyal to Great Britain was the correct choice, Paine’s argument was more appealing because he clarified that America would offer various inviting benefits that Britain was not able to provide. Paine compelled people because of the clarity in his argument. He avoided utilizing language that people were incapable of understanding, and he made his points sound appealing by using “a new style of political writing” (#31, p.95). Paine informed

According to Galen Strawson, moral responsibility to punish some of us with eternal torment (hell) and rewards others with eternal bliss (heaven). I am going to argue that we cannot be morally responsible for our actions which is also Strawson’s argument. He has a basic argument that claims you perform the action that you perform because of the way you are, in particular mental respects. To be truly morally responsible for your action, you must be truly morally responsible for your character, personality, and motivational structure or in other words, who you are. We are born with determined predispositions that we are not responsible for and we are exposed to certain influences that we are not responsible for.
The blue eyed – brown eyed experiment in my opinion is indeed ethical. The issue at hand with this experiment is will it cause permeant future psychological damage. Jane Elliott conducted this experiment with her third-grade students which some would say it is too harsh of an exercise for a group that young; She wanted to teach her student that discrimination is wrong which have been a topic they discussed from the first day of school but felt the student would become confused with the fact she just honored Dr. king in the month of February and now she had to explain to them that he was assassinated because of discrimination. Jane Elliott agreed that this exercise can do Psychological damage if not conducted correctly but the benefits are remarkable.
