My Definition Of An Outsider

“I was always an outsider, proud of being an outsider. I always reveled myself to the outsiders. ”,Stated american composer John Zorn. In the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton we learn about the rival groups the Greasers and the Socs. During the book we see that not all of the members of said groups are full of hate and malice for the opposing sides.

For example, Benjamin Franklin had odd and unique habits that others did not, like sitting in a cold room without clothes. Some might think of him as an outsider but it didn’t isolate him or make him different from the others. Franklin also wore different clothes than others but it didn’t make him an outcast as it was just his way of expressing his life and feelings. Similarly to Benjamin Franklin, Encountering the Other doesn’t necessarily make the others outsiders because being an “other” doesn’t mean you're an outsider because being an outsider means being different from society, while another just differs from another ethnic or cultural group.

The Outsiders is a story about a young adult named Dallas Winston. The story takes place in the 1960s in Oklahoma. It is about a tragedy that affected Dallas Winston in unexpected ways. One way that Dallas was affected by a tragedy was by the sudden loss of his friend Johnny. The loss of his friend devastated him so much that he committed suicide.

Don’t you think it’s about time people start thinking of each other as equals? An outsider is a person who doesn’t correspond to a particular group or is overpowered by people of higher estate. Outsiders are constantly alienated because they are abused by the people with authority, leaving them with no voice in decision making, this sensation is seen in the French Revolution, Industrial Revolution,The Metamorphosis, and Fences. During the French Revolution and Industrial Revolution young children and adults went through rough times, whether they had very little money or were starving because of how poor they were.

This suggests that there is some advantage to begin an insider, which is certainly true. At the same time outsider candidates have advantages as well. By looking at the cases of Obama versus Clinton, which resulted in Obama winning

As a kid you don’t want to be an Outsider. As a kid you want to be in the most popular group. For me as a kid I wanted to be in the most popular group at school like most people. They then became my friends everything was good for I was an Insider. I watched as Outsiders walked around me started and things began to change.

Being an outsider is a common feeling among people of all ages. Anything can make someone feel like an outsider, whether it is their age, gender, sexuality, or race. In Premila and Santha's case from

Often times, this means excluding others and even outcasting them from society. Nearly everybody has experienced being an outsider. whether it was not knowing anyone at a new school to not having the “must have” item that everyone else seemingly had. The experience of being an outsider is not universal because the feelings associated with being outcast are circumstantial, people react differently, and people have varying degrees of introversion.

An outcast is a term typically used to describe a person that isn't widely accepted by normal members of society. In the story The Catcher in the Rye, main character Holden Caulfield struggles with being a normal, functioning member of society. In fact, he often rejects being one by his own device. Holden rejects many social norms, including things like trying not to mature, not adapting to any social situation and watching other people doing things while he doesn't, and just his overall awkward nature. He does most definitely not succeed in his rebellion towards society.

Outsiders are used in novels to demonstrate a different perspective of a character where it is how other characters in the novel are perceived and not how the characters see themselves. It can also be used as a satirical tool to demonstrate the flaws within society. It can also be argued that society is to blame for the marginalisation of its people. Some of the characters in the Great Gatsby and the Reluctant Fundamentalist are portrayed as outsiders. It is evident in the way characters treat each other.

Like H. Edward Ransford author of Isolation, Powerlessness, and Violence: A study of Attitudes and Participation in the Watts Riots said “the hypothesis that isolation individuals are more prone to extremism is tested”, this is what the narrator was going to have to do (Ransford 581). Go to the extreme so that he is no longer mistreated and for once treated like a human that has all the rights like any other. The narrator is now convince that he is truly an invisible man, he feels isolated because no understands him leaving him alone with no friends, family or even colleagues. After through all of the terrible things that has happen he finally realizes that he has brought isolation to himself. He even states “I’m an invisible man and it placed me in a hole-or showed me the hole I was in, if you will-and I reluctantly accepted the fact” (Ellison 573-574).

We all need to belong somewhere. Everyone needs people to be there for them. We need to adore our lives with others, rather it is our family, friends, coworkers, or just society alone. There are a lot of traits that makes everyone unique in their own way with some of these traits people can make you seem like you’re an outsider but it’s false.

An outsider is a person who does not belong in a certain party or a group. An outsider is left out from parties, groups, and even sometimes they are not allowed near a place or person. Outsiders are not cool and people do not like them or are not drawn to them. Synonyms such as the odd one out, stranger, and refugee say it all. All of these words are example of what outsiders feel like or what outsiders are.

Who is the Outsider? The story “The Outsider” by H.P. lovecraft, follows a main character called the outsider as it escapes the castle it has been stuck in and escapes into another world. As the story unfolds we find out more and more about the outsider. Readers can infer that the outsider is many different beings.

Insider: An insider an employee of an organization who holds a designated post in the organization and possess critical information about the organization that if publically traded can change its market value. In U.S anyone who attains ten percent or more voting shares of the organization is naturally considered to be an insider. Taking advantage of non public information for personal gain is strictly prohibited. Maher Kara is yet another example of an insider. He is a trusted employee of Citigroup’s healthcare investment banking group and is well aware of highly confidential information about mergers and acquisitions involving Citigroup’s clients.
