The book is in the past which is in 1940s. The place is in Mexico and the family does not have a lot to deal with and when they went to the United States they were struggling. The family were going through even more struggle when Roberto left when he got married. The theme of the book is telling about Francisco’s life and what he went through. The message in the book is to be great for what you have because they are other people who have less than you. If you see someone struggling with something just try to help out. Also try to be kind to others because you don’t know what they are going through. What I liked about the book is when Papa came to Francisco graduation. The part of the book that i didn’t like is when Papa didn’t go to most of Francisco’s graduation’s. I would recommend this book to a friend because it tells you about how to appreciate what you have and never complain, they are other people that are struggling because they don’t have what you

Thats the way life is.(Ortiz Cofer, 593). The quote from the text talks about how Arturo's grandfather had to give up his job after the war, this relates to the theme because sometimes life can ruin your plans and there is nothing you can do to change it. What I found most striking about “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” by Junot Diaz, is that when you take away the Dominican mother, the Dominican abuelita, the fuku , the Spanglish, and the cultural references, Lola and Oscar, appear to suffer the trials and tribulations we all do as teenagers. As Junot Diaz immerses the reader in their tumultuous lives from the Dominican Republic to Paterson, New Jersey, you discover that Oscar and Lola are teenagers navigating the same physical and emotional roads we all did growing up. Oscar does not want to die a virgin and Lola wants to be independent. The mother clamors to provide for her children just like single mothers everywhere. Oscar was a “social introvert”, (Diaz, 2007, p. 22), finding
Alvarez and her family have a lot of trauma considering there lives in the dominican republic and living under the dictator, through it all alvarez's parents raised a daughter who would share their story in a fashionable matter that told the story how it was.
MS.226 Allison Rangasammy 801 January 27, 2017 The Circuit by Francisco Jimenez Type of Book: AutoBiography Number of Pages: 134 Date Began Reading: January 11, 2017 Date Completed Reading: January 18, 2017 Summary: Panchito and his family pass under a wire fence to steal across the border from their native Mexico to California. According to the text, “Papa spotted a small hole underneath the fence”... “We all crawled through like snakes.” Once they arrive, work is hard to find.
Papa is an intriguing character whose main purpose, as he sees it, is to provide for his family. He makes his money as a mechanic at the Martinez garage. Long nights accompanied with the buzzing and whirring of engines sum up his days. The grinning grills of the cars motivate him and make the time away from home easier. Working like a dog all day leaves him constantly stressed and exhausted.
Then he realizes that he was not going to stay with his money when he die. At the end, he helped his employee with a monetary situation. Further, he went to his nephew’s Christmas dinner. Significantly, this novel helps people retrain the meaning of being humble and kind with others. Something that is very important about this novel is that it teaches a lesson of helping others, because you are not going to stay with your money when you die.
It taught me that strength and perseverance can make a significant impact in life. I also learned that forgiveness and the ability to forgive is much more powerful than I ever realized. This novel sucked me into the story and its characters and took me on an emotional ride of highs and lows. Finally, it forced me to reevaluate my previous judgement of the homeless.
The message I took from this book was the importance of family and doing what is necessary to help them live a better
