The above described change in the narrative approach allows the filmic narrative agent to develop characters who are perceived as secondary in King 's novella. For example, Brooks Halten, the librarian whose place Andy takes over. Brooks is mentioned briefly in the book and his story represents the theme of institutionalism. Red believes that Brooks will be able to survive in the outside world: ' 'In prison, Brooks had been a person of some importance. He was the head librarian, an educated man. If he went to the Kittery library and asked for a job, they wouldn 't give him a library card. In this point of my analysis, I deal with the scene that one could argue most enriches the main subject of the story, namely hope. In this scene that is created by Darabont, Andy, who is at Norton 's office to receive some used books and sundries for the prison 's library, locks the guard in the bathroom and then starts playing a recording of ‘Canzonettasull 'aria’ from the opera The Marriage of Figaro. As Verstraten argues, filmmakers use music as narrative tool(153) that not only challenges the audience 's emotions but also carries the theme of the movie. In this scene the music is intradiegetic since Andy connects the public speaker system to the record player so that all of the prisoners can hear the music. In her book Music in American Crime Prevention and Punishment, Lily Hirsch explains that this scene “also highlights another utopia musical ascription related to the contested idea that music is a universal language” since all the prisoners are feeling connected, enjoying the music while hope is revived within their
The main character in the book is a young and impressionable Will Tweedy. He is the perfect choice for the narrator because he remains unbiased to what is going on around him. Wills slow transformation from a boy who is naïve and fickle to a mature young man who knows who he is and what he believes in is something the reader is drawn to as it demonstrates the dynamic element of his character. The genius in Will Tweedy narration of the book comes from his relatable outlook, he may think or say things we have all thought but are too afraid to admit. For example, Will asks miss Love why she married his grandpa, being so blunt this question would have stunned most people.

Good afternoon teachers and fellow peers, In order to achieve their own personal and communal ambitions, figures in society manipulate and persuade people through events and situations to conform to their own political agenda. In the 1955 prescribed text, “The Crucible,” playwright Arthur Miller establishes the exploitative behaviour of characters through dramatised staging features. Similarly in the 1964 related text, “The Times They are A-Changin’,” Bob Dylan insights individual ambitions through musical and poetic devices. The shared ideas of the modernist era such as the significance of religion and political hegemony are investigated by both composers in their perspective texts.

Determination in Shawshank Redemption Determination is a very important trait where a person follows through with a decision to achieve a certain purpose. In the movie Shawshank redemption directed by Frank Darabont, determination is an underlying key theme of the movie most present with the main character Andy Dufresne who uses determination and hope to escape prison. Although Andy has a hard time at first, he is able to fight against the struggles of prison and not only better his life with determination, but also Red by giving him something to achieve while out of prison on parole . The ways in which determination was developed in Shawshank Redemption were those of which hard work is shown to payoff and making the best out of every situation, even if the situation is unfair. Andy first shows a significant amount of determination when he quickly begins to plan his escape by asking Red to sneak in a rock hammer for him, which subtlety foreshadowed his escape.
