Negative Effects Of Immigration On America

It effected everyone, everywhere, for good or bad, but has shaped how our world is today. The construction of the Transcontinental Railroad had a big effect on Native Americans. White settlers entering their land and disturbing them caused many disputes. The Transcontinental Railroad and new formed treaties basically forced the Indians onto reserves. They depended upon the buffalo herds for food and hides, and the number of buffalo were constantly decreasing.

In the late 1800’s to the 1920’s the United States made a positive impact by improving the country by creating jobs and better products to live easier. Industrialization had a positive impact on the United States society because without it today we wouldn't have the things we use each day to have an interesting life. The Industrial Revolution created jobs for many American citizens. Over the next couple years the United States grew its population by offering this opportunity to all kinds of immigrants that came here to the United States with their families. For example one reason why the Industrial Revolution had a positive impact on the U.S society was steel (entry 3).

The late 19th century and early 20th century was time of great social, economic, and political change in the United States (U.S.). This time era was impacted by two major evens, the Civil War, and the Industrial Revolution. The Civil War physically divided the South and the North, and created a dysfunctional country. In an attempt to mend the country the government entered an era of Reconstruction. Simultaneously, the Industrial Revolution was growing and expanding.

With the finding of the gold rush, they expanded the land for settlers from around the world, which means more money and more goods and trading ports. But the downside to all of this is that the pattern of American racism and discrimination kept of going, but that started to die down once the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was in progress. This treaty is “free enjoyment of their liberty and property.” In addition, the luring of immigrants around the world led to the railroad and jump-started the industrial revolution.

In the article “50 Years Ago, Immigration Changed America” by Kenneth T. Walsh it explains the impact of immigration, legal and illegal, on the United States. Immigration is a controversial issue now in whether people who migrate over are boosting or declining our economy and what will be done about it. Immigration and its laws have changed significantly over the years and have greatly affected the United States whether people believe positive or negative and statistics need to be shown to prove it. Walsh tries to show how things have changed overtime.

Before the war there were restrictions on trade and the industry and after it ended. This resulted in the development of America’s merchant marine and manufacturing industries. Expansion started to pick up people were starting to move western across the Appalachians Mountains. This was making life for the Native American harsh and difficult for them to have land. This provided American with economic opportunities for immigrants coming from Europe.

In the Gilded Age, negative effects were passed on in the Industrial Revolution. Today in 2016, we recognize the struggles and conditions people had to face. Unfortunately, it still exists in the form of immigration, living conditions, and equal amount of pay. Immigrants came to America for freedom, opportunity, and a fresh start. Pay, labor and space availability affected many people because of the overcrowding.

America has made great advancements, from the economy to inventions, one of the many changes that influenced America greatly was the Industrial Revolution. Due to new inventions, people had to move west in order to build mills and factories. During that process, Americans forced the Native Americans off their land. Native Americans tried to protect their land but they lost and were sent to reservations. The land was seized and Americans built their railroads, because railroads were the most popular form of travel at the time.

Immigration, a topic people have countless differences on. So many are for it: so many are against it. If researched, it does not seem immigrants a great of an effect on America. Many Americans are unemployed simply because immigrants take jobs. Turn on the television, and one hears about is higher crime rates.

The removal of the native Americans from their land, and the boarding school movement, which is when many native children were separated from their families, stripped from their language and often got abused by white. They lost their home, family because most American thought that Indian should integrated to their white culture, so it 'll be easier for them. The lost of family play a big impact in Native American life from generation to generation. Native America are still one of the United States most economically disadvantaged population. Not only that, most of their land are owned and managed by the federal government.

The Great Migration and/in the Congregation The Great Migration was the migration occurred within the United States between 1910 and 1970 which saw the displacement of about seven million African Americans from the southern states to those in the North, Midwest and West. The reasons that led thousands of African Americans to leave the southern states and move to the northern industrial cities were both economic and social, related to racism, job opportunities in the industrial cities and the search of better lives, the attempts to escape racism and the Jim Crow Laws that took them away the right to vote. As every social phenomena, the Great Migration had both positive and negative effects; in my opinion the Great Migration can be considered a negative development in the short and medium term, but, if we analyze the benefits brought to the African-American communities in the long term, their fight for integration has shaped the history of the United States in its progress to democracy and civil rights.

The idea of an “American” was interesting because it was strictly idealized to only suit the white population. It was said that the typical americans were english speaking, hamburger eating, white, christian individuals. By just religion that idea of an “American” would cancel out a large portion of the white population that is perhaps jewish, atheist, or just spiritual. One thing the reading points out that the nation wouldn’t be what it is without immigrants that helped build it, yet as a nation we neglect to see that the more we reject and fear immigrants the more harm it does.

Well we now have the knowledge to see how immigration and industrialization helped America during this time period or more, revolutionized America. With the help of many new immigrants the population of America began to rise quickly as many immigrants came to the America to take their share in land out west. With the help of this rising population the economy grew along with many businesses. And with all of the new technologies of the Industrial Revolution the journey west was made a little bit easier. Lightweight wagons called prairie schooners could hold big loads and were usually pulled by 2 oxen.

While the colonization of the America’s was negative for many reasons such as the spread of illnesses, and the forcing of religion upon natives, it was also beneficial to the Native’s because it allowed them to have better weapons and to have different foods and goods in their lives. The Europeans exposed the Natives to many new diseases once they colonized the new areas they discovered. The Europeans greatly impacted the family life and religion of the inhabitants of the areas they found. There was also a lot of exchange going on during the conquest of the Americas because the Natives were excited by the new gadgets they had never seen before that the Europeans brought over.
