Back side of the system unit:
* Serial port: it is a general-purpose interface that can be used for almost any type of device, including modems, mouse or keyboard.
* Parallel port: It is usually used for connecting PC to a printer.
* USB port: It is a plug and play port on your pc. With USB, a new device can be added to your computer without additional hardware or even having to turn the PC off. A single usb can be used to connect to 127 peripheral devices.
* Power socket: It supplies electricity to the PC. A power cable is plugged into the power socket, which carries the power from the electrical outlet to the system unit and from the system unit to your monitor.
* Fan: The back of system unit has a fan which works like an exhaust fan. When you are working on the computer, its machinery produces a lot of heat. If this heat is not moving out ofthe System unit, it can cause havoc to PC. The fan stops this from happening. No sooner you switch on the computer; the fan starts to rotate and starts throwing out the heat from the system unit. The fan keeps on rotating by the time you do not switch off the computer.

1.7.4 Other Another type of port is PS/2. The PS/2 is most commonly used for things like Keyboards and Mouse. These are also found on almost all IBM compatible computers. The two ports are colour coded so it’s easier to decide which device goes into which port. The green port is used for the mouse and the purple port is used for the keyboard.
For this particular task, I will be explaining what key components are necessary for client workstations to connect to a network and how to access network resources. I will be explaining the key features and functions of each of these components in relative detail. Network Devices: These are mechanisms used to connect computers and other electronic devices together so they can exchange and share files or special resources like printers or fax machines used in big organisations. LAN is the main type of network device used by the community.
