Nursing and kinesiology are two different professions that involve the aspects of the body. However, nursing is a practice that involves the care for the ill or weak, which is includes attending to the pain of their patients. On the other hand, kinesiology focuses on the mechanism of the body. The two fields present examples that put them both in the category of health science, but distinctions of styles are evident between the two. For instance, similar writing styles are present in both writings. For example, both fields include a method section in their format. This suggest the importance of including their approach to accomplishing their desired topic. Furthermore, kinesiology and nursing first section present the sample they conducted their experiment on. Including their sample indicates their value towards the demographics of their participants. All things considered, nursing and kinesiology use their first section as the base of their results, which would cause implications. …show more content…
Kinesiology’s present its result in the methods section rather than the results section. However, the data from the nursing’s paper are located within the results itself. This choice of location could be because it wanted the results to guide the reader what the tables provide. Meehan, the author of the nurse piece, states that the table 1 “provide the foundation for how nurses think about themselves…” In conclusion, nursing’s and kinesiology’s format is different when considering kinesiology lack of emphases of their results. However, the two clearly portrays their work as an experiment when the nursing paper ending with how “further research is needed regarding the methods.” Kinesiology even implied the need for such when they discussed the faults in their hypothesis. Thus, the two fields favor an attempt to refine their methods that contributed to the
Kinesiology is the study of body movement and physical therapy lies in a career that relates to aiding many people with injuries, diseases, or deformity. Rather than using drugs or surgery, physical methods such as massages, heat treatments, or exercise can rehabilitate the people to become the best they could ever be. Having the ability to help people physically and mentally has influenced my choice to enter the field of sport medicine. The soul purpose of a physical therapist is to help people gain their ability to move, decrease the amount of pain, and to be able to have complete function of their body.
Michaela P. Capulong NU 333-01: Physical Assessment for the Nursing Professional June 29, 2015 Journal 7 When I do my assessment on admission, I always include the assessment findings that I expect to be abnormal if the patient has definite cardiovascular problem. I notify the MD and the nurse practitioner immediately if I find abnormal findings or values. I ensure to chart the education and the correction in response of the abnormal findings. In addition to that, tests and labs should be done to rule out problems. It is essential to know the patient’s health history before conducting the physical exam.

Running head: REFLECTION Reflection Casandra Wakefield University of Arizona Reflection There is a great need in the nursing world to ensure that quality and safety are focused and stressed upon in nursing education. The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) address the issues of effectively teaching, in regards to quality, and safety competencies in education (Dolansky & Moore, 2013, ¶ 1). The QSEN was developed to provide nursing education from the focus of individual patient care to the focus of care of the health care system. The QSEN recommends ways to educate and calculate heath care system thinking (Dolansky & Moore, ¶ 1). QSEN really is asking for the nursing profession to move away from individual patient care frame of thinking and prepare graduating nurses with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) to really look detailed at the health care system as a whole.
The occupational field of nursing and the educational instruction associated with nursing has evolved from the past century due to the detail oriented research and scientifically developed contributions. The advancement of new technology and improved theory drastically upgraded nursing practices, allowing patients to experience an efficient and professional form of healthcare serves. To learn more about the changes in the field of nursing that has taken place in the last 60 years I interviewed nurses that graduated from nursing school in three different decades. Although changes have taken place in regard to educational setting, cost of education, dress code, clinical hours and state board exam, the overall core of nursing has remained the
This approach aids nurses in determining the necessary amount of support and creating suitable care plans to encourage patient autonomy. In contrast, Middle Range theories were created through empirical study to explain events in a particular area of nursing practice (Risjord, 2019). They are more precise and narrowly focused. They are useful for evidence-based practice because they are more open to testing and validation. One illustration of a Middle Range Theory is Katharine Kolcaba's Comfort Theory, which divides comfort into environmental, psychospiritual, and physical components with the goal of improving patient comfort while receiving medical attention.
I am applying to your PhD in Kinesiology program with a focus on building upon relevant previous experience and education and preparing me towards my career. As a result of my enduring interest in sports, I studied Anthropology of Sports at the University. During my internship at the University of Calgary through the Student for Development Program (SFD), I had the opportunity to learn about the possibility and opportunity of studying sports at the University. Unfortunately, in my native country, there is generally a scarcity of experts in this area and specifically a negligible number of women in this field, and explains why I hope to gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how sports can be applied to improve the general wellbeing (physical and mental) of participants and benefit to society. Given this opportunity, I hope to become a positive influence on women to pursue their dream in this area of study and also to fill in the gap in this field.
Professionalism is the skill set that society expects from a professional. For a nurse, professionalism is not merely knowing how to take someone’s temperature or how to administer medication. It goes beyond that and consists, not only of job competence, but also includes personal and ethical dimensions. Professionalism requires job knowledge, accountability, advocacy, communication, and ethical decision making. Knowledge is the foundation of professionalism, but accountability establishes trust in the profession.
Whether you are performing a comprehensive / general survey assessment or a focused assessment, there are four basic tools employed which includes inspection, auscultation, percussion, and palpation (Jarvis, 2008). These methods recommended to be utilized in a well arranged manner from least disturbing or invasive to most invasive to the patient (Jarvis, 2008). Inspection is the first and most commonly used and during this assessment, the provider is striving to identify conditions that can be seen with eyes, ears, or nose such as skin color, bruises or rash, size of body parts, hair, ear, eyes and abnormal findings, sounds, and smell etc (Javier, 2015). For instance, Baid Heather 2006, suggested that if a patient walked into the room or facility, gait maybe observed, if on wheelchair or bed rest, posture issue will be noted while listening to the patient tone of voice or breathing will indicate neurological issues such as dizziness, inability speaking, difficulty swallowing, headache, head injury , vision issue, discharge from ear etc and respiratory issues hence this assessment is vital as it can lead to more evaluation and findings (Jarvis, 2015). Another is Auscultation which succeeds inspection, especially with abdominal assessment which is required to be auscultated prior percussion or palpation to curb production of false bowel sound because the assessment requires quiet to prevent false sounds and done over bare skin, listening to one sound at a time
Interview a Professional in Kinesiology As we embark on a profession in Kinesiology we have to ask what field best fits me and my personality. Originally I wanted to pursue a Physical therapy career. A nurse must be able to perform activities like moving a patient, lifting heavy equipment, being on their feet for much of their shift, etc. The nursing profession can be very taxing on a person’s body and society as a whole is seeing the effects of this. Older nurses who have been in the field for a long time are no longer able to perform these tasks and it is causing them to change their area of expertise, or even leave their profession entirely. This has negatively impacted effective health care delivery and proper patient-centered care because these nurses are not able to effectively help their patients. Research shows that there are a large amount of nurses that are near or at the retirement age.
