The importance of preventing and managing chronic diseases, which include renal failure and cardiovascular diseases, along with their risk factors are emphasized by the Department of Chronic Disease and Health Promotion of the World Health Organization (Desroches, Lapointe, Ratté, Gravel, Légaré, & Turcotte, 2013). However, there is evidence in literature showing a gap of knowledge in the kinds of educational interventions being considered as most effective in compliance to dietary regimen. The study by Desroches et al., 2013 states that there are limitations to their study including that being a short duration, low quality and adherence measures varied widely (Desroches et al., 2013) Hence, these limitations assisted in the generation of research questions, which are: 1) Which educational interventions being used show reliability in compliance or adherence to dietary regimen; 2) What are the detrimental factors contributing to low compliance to dietary regimen among patients with ESRD and CHF; and 3) Can a study performed in a longer length of time produce a higher rate of compliance to dietary regimen among patients with ESRD and
For the purpose of this assignment two audio-visuals have been watched regarding the care of Joe (NMC Videos., 2010a; NMC Videos., 2010b). For the first part of the assignment the problem solving approach, A.P.I.E (Assess, Plan, Implement and Evaluate) will be used to discuss behaviours regarding Joes care. The main behaviours will then be identified and examined using material learnt during the programme, and explanations will be offered to try and understand the behaviours displayed. The second part of the assignment will be a reflection regarding my development as a result of analysing Joe’s experience.
I am thrilled at the opportunity to help proffer solutions for malnutrition in children alongside other well-meaning people. To create awareness and raise funds for the project, I worked with other team members to organize a 42km “save a life” marathon. As I peruse the course outline, I deeply appreciate the value the Nutrition in emergencies course would be to the success of the TAWOV IDP Relief Fund project geared towards solving the problem of malnutrition. It will provide first-hand insights to interventions in reducing mortality in emergencies; infant and young feeding in emergencies and training on how to assess and manage malnutrition. The enlightenment from this course is invaluable in performing my duties on and off the
Jenna is a five year old girl who goes to a primary school. She lives on a low income with her auntie Corina. They come from the back ground Afro-Caribbean. She attends school 5 days a week from 9:15am to 3.15pm. There are 30 children in the class and 5 staff members.
The support group I attended for the class requirement is Overeaters Anonymous also known as OA. The Overeaters Anonymous meeting was designed to assist people with eating disorders such as compulsive overeating, under-eating, food addiction, anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, or over exercising. OA has a similar mission statement as Alcoholics Anonymous. However, they replace Alcoholics Anonymous with Overeaters Anonymous, Alcohol with food and being an alcoholic with being an overeater. OA is a voluntary meeting for individuals seeking assistance wit their overeating.
Our aim is to always try and find a healthy nutritional and balanced meal for our clients to eat and encouragement can be given when necessary. I combined how your nutrition is important because it can prevent you from getting sick or becoming overweight and suffering. Lack of nutrition education, marketing persuading consumers to want harmful food, and the healthcare system not being effective all have to deal with why healthy nutrition is not being focused on or accomplished. This topic is important and interesting if you are interested in global healthcare or local healthcare. Each one of the problems can be solved or reduced to focus on the human nutrition or to decrease the rate of deaths due to obesity, heart failures, etc. The research and the 7-step plan, promoting healthier food options, and reduction of pills and helping patients learn about nutrition are all ways to improve the lack of

According to Northoff (2007), nutrition is critical for a healthy and active life, but many people around the world still have no access to sufficient and nutritious food because of poverty and lack of nutrition education. Moreover, Riddle (2005) stresses that nutrition education is a key for developing the skills and motivation needed to eat well, and is especially important in situations where families have limited resources. The benefits of nutrition education and counselling can directly influence nutritional status, consequently, helping in attaining the millennium development goal (MDG) to reduce the prevalence of hunger and malnutrition (Garcia, 2008). In a recent preliminary study conducted by ENDESA in 2007, the way in which the mother’s educational level influenced malnutrition was observed. Statistics reveal that 15.4 percent of children of mothers with no education suffered from chronic malnutrition, while 9.4 percent and 4.7 percent in children of mothers with secondary or higher education levels respectively (Acevedo & Menendez, 2006).
