Notably, the budget development process commences during the spring and culminates in the adoption of the budget by the commission in August of each year. The amounts budgeted by the agency for any given year exceeds the original appropriation authority as stipulated in the General Appropriations Act (Financial Overview: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, 11). Primarily, this is because the budget will reflect increases in funding authorized in riders and general provisions. Also, the budget encompasses amounts associated with employee compensation, which is not reflected in the TPWD appropriations. For example, the Fiscal Year 2013 combined budget totaled approximately $357.5 million, which included operating expenses, capital projects, grants, and employee

It is also critical that game wardens keep people from being terrible to the environment by leaving trash and other such things out in the environment. Game wardens are and have been for many years the protectors and enforcers of the wild game and habitat of the country to keep many people, accountable and safe. To fully understand the need for a game warden, one has to look at the history of this career. Back before the 19th century before the United States government passed laws and set aside national parks and national reserves for wildlife and their safety (Careers in Focus 61-62). Animals were going extinct, and way too many of them were being hunted and fished daily.
The Florida Everglades is the third-largest national park out of the 48 states. It is also the first national park created to protect the fragile ecosystem. Without the protection of the alliga-tors and thus the ecosystem area we know as the everglades could eventually become nonexist-ent. At one time “this wetland was called the river of grass by an author back in 1947” (Strawn 17).
Enter Bob Heil, a resident of California. He is intrigued by actions, both politically and environmentally. Heil finds interest in learning new things about the world where the government and nature meet, creating new opportunities for volunteers, politicians, and environmentalists alike. Heil also notices the “ground troops” in most nature-based charities and how they are constantly striving and helping to make a difference in both the United States’ wilderness and government (Heil). Heil hopes to encourage more and more environmental clubs to be involved politically and make a difference.
cold spell of January 2010, all of those pythons died (2010). All of this evidence leads scientists to believe that the Burmese Python invasion will stay in Southern Florida and not become a problem for the rest of the southern United States. Burmese Pythons are very elusive snakes and despite their large size, can be very difficult to find. In this study, tracking dogs will be used to find the snakes and their handlers will remove them once found. Dogs are known for their strong sense of smell and many are bred to hunt animals.

The framers of the Texas Executive established a system that was designed to check the powers of the government. As opposed to the US Constitution that vested the power of the executive in the president of the nation (Berry, 1385), the Texas Constitution sought to ensure that the state did not have the excess powers. As such, they came up with a plural system where a variety of individuals make up the executive branch of the state (Texas State Government at a Glance). While the governor of the state remains as the highest ranking officials in the state, they hold the least of powers in the plural system.
This Texas Government course is my first online class and also my first Honors class in college. I am aware that online courses may require students to do discussion boards or group projects or any other assignments that encourage interactions among students. I expected to experience and improve my teamwork skills and critical thinking. Although this class was about Texas Government, I was looking forward to discussing the presidential election that was held during throughout the semester. Last spring semester, I took GOVT 2305 - the Federal Government- and found myself involved in discussions and debates.

President Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, was known for his love of nature. This was conveyed most strongly in his speeches, such as “Conservation as a National Duty”, in which he advocated for the preservation of natural resources in the interests of the nation and its people. In this speech as well as others he gave during his term as President, he stressed that conservation did not just pertain to preserving natural resources or deferring their exhaustion; rather, it was closely intertwined with the patriotic duty of ensuring that the nation would be able to provide for future generations, and was second only to the “great fundamental questions of morality”. One such example of how Roosevelt connected conservation with morality is found in his “The New Nationalism” speech, given in Osawatomie, Kansas in 1910. Here, he compares the way he believes the nation must behave in terms of conservation to the manner in which a farmer acts in reference to his children and the land that provides for them.
