The show Parenthood is all about the conflicts and difficulties within the Braverman family. This episode basically showed that as perfect as a family may look on the outside, their life is not as easy as it may seem. It exemplified the different aspects of family life and the different types of conflicts a family can have. The conflict that interested me the most was relationship between Adam and his father, Zeek. Throughout the whole episode, their conflict is ongoing. The conflict obviously stems from when Adam was a child and the way Zeek parented him. Zeek’s outlook is that he was “tough,” but Adam doesn’t want him to be that way with his child, Max. Starting from the first scene in the episode, it’s very evident that there are issues …show more content…
As stated earlier, the two men are always attacking each other rather than asking why the other is doing whatever they may be doing. For example, Zeek assumes he knows why Adam is allowing Max to play outside during the concert, when Zeek doesn’t have the slightest idea as to what is going on with Max. The conflict process is very unstable. Adam and Zeek never seem to sit down and talk things through. The only time the S-TLC method was used is towards the end when Adam tells Zeek that there is something wrong with Max. Zeek then stopped, and thought about the issue, listened to Adam, and then the communication he did with Adam was letting him know that he was there to listen. Given the nature of this conflict, it was very appropriate. I-statements were seldom used in their conflict. They were always beating around the bush. The one time Adam did use an I-statement was towards the beginning when he told his dad that he’s going to need him to be calm during the baseball game. This personalized what he was saying, and it made it so it didn’t make Zeek feel like Adam was attacking him. When Adam used this I-statement, the outcome was more favorable then when he normally uses you-statements. He reduced the blame, he was honest, and it was a far less defensive behavior which are …show more content…
One way creative management could have been incorporated would be through the idea of lateral thinking. Lateral thinking is when we think about any and every possible reason behind something. It doesn’t just jump to one conclusion and assume there can only be one reason for that conclusion. In the final scene with Zeek and Adam, Zeek jumped to the conclusion that Adam was slacking with his parenting and letting Max get his way rather than brainstorming and thinking about other possible reasons for what Adam was doing. Zeek and Adam’s entire relationship and conflict is really centered on the different parenting styles, and if they were to use lateral thinking and work at different little issues, they might be able to get to the bottom of their conflict as a whole. This would be a perfect way to be creative with their conflict
In the book Fearless, there is a man named Adam. He was known as the good guy. He did everything like he was supposed to and was always caring towards others. He was truly fearless when he did anything. He did not back down from any challenges.
Kaz looks at him for a second, face betraying how much those words affected him, his mouth trembles with the words he wants to say, screwing his eyes shut for a second before he opens them up, the fire behind them burning brighter than ever. "You can 't tell me shit like that and not pound me into the mattress," He says, words alight with need and the words flow off of his tongue beautifully, the perfect balance of stubbornness and desperation, all rumpled clothes and messy hair, nearly panting as he lay there on the bed looking like sin incarnate. Ocelot laughs, but it 's not a mean sound. Rather, it 's as sincere as he gets and a high compliment to anyone who gets close enough to him to hear it.
He emotionally appeals to the audience’s sympathies and honesties. He begins using more dramatic, emotional language, such as, “seriously, don't hurt her because of me [he]. " Due to this change in language the audience understands that he does not mean to hurt her. However, he makes her look foolish and racist thru the half of the video. For example, he is copying the voice tone of Wallace when he is trying to repeat "oh my God, and the way Asians people talk on their phone" and making fun of it.
Is that the answer, Bailey?”” (Cormier 43) By asking question after question, the syntax makes the statement more dramatic, causing Bailey and the class to be intimidated. “Brother Leon regarded them pityingly, shaking his head, a sad and dismal smile on his lips.” (Cormier 44)
Because of their constant fighting, Barry and Moira are both unable to express their feelings and thoughts adaquetly and end up using anger toward each other as an outlet. Regardless of their constant disagreements, Barry finds himself listening to Moira when she brings up college
He carries forward with this tactic by saying things like, "Kill him! Kill the umpire!" as well as "Now the air is shattered by the force of Casey's blow. " These are humorous since they are a form of figurative language and they don't mean the what they're stating literally. When he said the air was "shattered"
From chapter 8 in Stone’s book, the author states that the importance of using third story during the conversation, boils down the conversation skills specifically step by step, and introduces the scheme to prepare the “interval notes” in head including stories from both sides, impact/intent, contribution, feelings, and identity issues. To specifying how to practically and efficiently consider these factors during the difficult conversation, the author disintegrates these aspects into a difficult conversation check list, from sorting out what is happening to understand emotions and ground own identity, checking whether or not to raise the issue by clarifying the purpose, starting to negotiate with others by stating the third story, reframing other’s point of view to explore the stories from both sides better, to ultimately solving the
I also think that Zusak made Rudy so perfect and sweet to remind the boys in today's age to be like him. I think that Rudy is very caring because he knew Liesel would be upset, and he didn’t want
In the next few lines the speaker says he did not hit the friend, he simply pretended as if he didn’t hear him. That says a lot about the speaker, it shows he is wise and does not let words affect him.
Aibleen says this to Mae Mobley and she repeats it back to Aibleen “little girl you is kind. You is smart. You is important. To me Aibleen saying that to her makes me

Max not only is in danger himself, but puts Liesel's whole family at risk. “Now I think we are friends, this girl and me. On her birthday it was she who gave a gift to me,”(Zusak Ch 12). Liesel gave Max the gift of friendship, and that meant a lot to Max. Liesel hugs Max as an act of pity, but Max sees it more than that.
At first Max, almost angry that Kevin is crippled but still smarter than himself, thinks that Kevin is taking advantage of his large size to get away from bullies. This strongly shows that Kevin and Max’s relationship is overall not a good one, a parasitic relationship. But I can prove that belief that Kevin and Max’s relationship is unhealthy with another example of mutualism from The Mighty. When the two friends get to know each other well after Max’s revival at the fireworks show, Kevin and Max go to a museum with knights. They both realize that, together, they are almost unstoppable, and they both fulfill each other.
(112) Sheldon rapidly changes the conversation to an irrelevant situation of his friend to take the pressure off him. He uses the deception avoidance language “ a type of deception to avoid revealing troublesome information” (McCornack and Ortiz)(page 127) and change to topic to his friend Dr. Hofstadter carnal allure, how his other friends Wolowitz misuse university resources to built a six-breasted gender robot, his other friend Koothrappali remark about Mrs. Davis referring to her as a brown sugar to avoid being “persecuted” for being called into the human resource office because of the complaint that was brought up against him. (paaaaammmmmiiiiieeeee). Though out the entire movie clip Sheldon conveys a lot of information using nonverbal communication.
Moreover, the managers should not reprimand the creativity of their employees by imposing them tremendous amount of paper work every time they want to present a new idea. In order, to help your employees to bring new ideas, you have to instore a creative environment where the employees will not be discouraged by the work they have to do just to present a new algorithm for example. The employees should also see the action of the top management as an example of good behaviour. [1] The only way that this change would
