Personal Narrative Essay: Sarah's Facade

My partner is Cathryn Cusano, she has lived in Easton, Pennsylvania throughout her entire life. Cathryn has a love for softball and has played ever since she was a little girl. During Cathryn’s senior year of high school she had multiple offers to play softball for elite colleges in the area. She started out having an amazing season, the team was also thriving which eventually resulted in them making it to the playoffs. It was the first round of playoffs and Cathryn was on first base, one of her teammates was up to bat.

In the novel Sarah’s Key, by Tatiana De Rosnay the author tells a story about the holocaust and what a family of four endured in Pars, July, 1942. There is a second part to this story the author Tatiana introduces, during the second chapter, a journalist, who has a job assignment involving the sixth commemoration of Vel’ d’Hiv’. Julia the journalist later comes to find out some information about her family’s history and had they lived in the same apartment where a young eleven year old Jewish girl and her family who were brutally taken from their home in Paris July, 1942. Tatiana De Rosnay was born September 28, 1961 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Her passion for writing started at a young age of eleven.

It was November 21st and I, Laura Berman, was sitting in a parlor with the one and only John F. Kennedy. The parlor wasn’t grand, honestly it almost drab, but it had a quaint homey feel to it. It was almost as if it had held a life much simpler than ours. I sat on the arm of a La-Z-boy with a glass of whiskey in my right hand.

It was just another day in the town of Winchester and Abigail Johnson was preparing breakfast for her family. Abigail was a 15 year old girl in high school. She lived in a two-story house with her sister, mother, and father. Abigail and her family were extremely close, especially her and her younger sister, Emily. Abigail had a very busy life at school always being involved in sports, clubs, and after school activities.

Sarah and Angelina Grimke The Civil Rights Movement gave freedom and rights to the African Americans who were being denied them. During this time period there were many people who greatly impacted this movement. Two of those people were Sarah and Angelina Grimke. The two sisters played a very important role in the Civil Rights Movement by campaigning for the abolition of slavery . Together, Sarah and Angelina Grimke inspired people all around the nation to join the North in abolishing slavery by publishing powerful pieces of writing and delivering eloquent speeches which included personal stories of their experiences with slavery from their childhood.

On May 20,1996 I was born Damione Freeman growing up in a small city named Pell City. Growing up wasn't easy for me father was never around just leaving me with my mother. As a child I was always happy, caring, and well mannered. When I turned five I started living with my grandmother, Dianne Freeman and my uncle, Akeem Freeman. At the age of five I was torn away from my mother because of her husband and his issues.

I can relate to Sara from Bread Givers because she is protective of her family. This protectiveness is first seen in the book when Reb condemns Fania’s and Morris’ relationship, and Sara defends Fania. After intercepting a love letter from Morris to Fania, Reb voiced his disapproval of the relationship, as he believed poets were poor. Meanwhile, Fania did not care about Morris’ wealth; she instead valued the love they felt for each other. Over this disagreement, Reb started a debate in which he treated Fania unfairly.

In the poem Making Sarah Cry and in the short story Don’t Give Up the Fight, there are many similarities and many differences. A common theme for both pieces could be perseverance because in Making Sarah Cry she perseveres through all the bullying and then stands up for the other little boy in the end. But in Don't Give Up the Fight, Ava stands up for herself and tells the principal that she was being picked on by Coach McCoy and Jacob. Clearly, both characters deal with their problems in different ways. This shows that the character’s actions were displayed differently.

At the end of the 2013 softball season, Kelsey Bradford found herself facing a possible state champion title along with a possible surgery. It was a night filled with nervous energy, happiness, and pain. “I will never forget the feeling that I had when I stepped up to the plate as the first batter of the game. I was so nervous but so excited at the same time,” Kelsey recalled. “At the first bat of the game, I made an in the park home run.

Ever since I was young, I have always heard someone talking about Marquette. Part of this may be due to the fact that three of my neighbors have gone to Marquette and have absolutely loved it. Adding on to that, I have met even more people that have gone to Marquette that have really liked it and are usually successful in life. I met even more people at the Marquette open house that were from all over the United States and said they went to Marquette and they hope their child will attend Marquette as well. This made me realize that Marquette is truly local, since I know several people that have gone to Marquette that live by me and at the same time it is global, since I have met people around the United States, as well as other countries that

Imagine moving across the continent to go to school. Jessica Stupar, an international student from Sprucegrove, Alberta, Canada, chose to come to America to pursue her dream of becoming a collegiate softball player. Despite the few differences between the United States and Canada, Stupar has seem to come in contact with several needs for clarification when it comes to stereotypes. Stupar’s life-long dream is to play softball in college and North Central Missouri College has made that a possibility for her. It seems crazy to think that someone from Canada would come to Trenton, Missouri.

Growing up my parents instilled in me that I was beautiful and my skin was beautiful. It was clear to me that everyone else didn’t feel the same way. I went to a couple different schools throughout my life starting with a predominantly black school then a predominantly white school then a very diverse school and at each one I still experienced colorism. At the black school I was not liked because I was darkskin and my hair was kinky and I was just not as pretty as the light skinned girls.

The biblical example of Sarah, Abraham’s wife amazes me the depth of loyalty she had to Abraham and faith in God’s sovereignty. Sarah was in a difficult situation with physical and emotional needs. Sarah barrenness produced emotional needs of loneliness, grief, disappointment, feelings of inferiority, rejection, envy and anger. But God saw and heard her broken heart, and answered her needs. God bound Sarah’s wounds both within her lifetime, as well as her life testimony throughout time making her the mother of nations.
