Personal Narrative Essay: Serra High School

As a student athlete, I have learned to use failure as an opportunity to learn. The moments in which I have "failed" have only helped me grow and reflect on the mistakes that not only I have made, but also those made by others. I was forced to do this multiple times throughout my final season of high school field hockey. Even though the team had players who were devoted and had a true desire to win, the season ended as a losing record in the books. As the primary goalie and captain, this was extremely difficult to accept.

As I pound my bat against home plate I get ready for the perfect ball to come. Then it came, the perfect ball, could not have curved any better, I smacked it with my bat, It was out of the park! It could have been the last game of the season for the Braves Major league Baseball, we were the best, the champions, then the A’s put up a fight but they will not end it now. The A’s got the whole Braves team nervous, so we practiced for every day for the next two weeks preparing for game, then half way through two weeks of training the Braves were stronger, prepared, and twice as good as the used to be, they boosted their self esteem double their regular.

There was a time in my life where it was a bad time, but, it was also a good time. I was trying to play games at my old school, Roosevelt Junior High School. I got caught, and what came with it, is troubling . When I got Home my Mom and Dad greeted me with a bunch of things, saying I shouldn’t be doing that, and this and that, but, what also came with it is, my grades dropped, it was horrible, I just couldn’t keep up with all my homework.

The game started. In the bottom of the first, Curtis Granderson hit a solo home run. Inside I started to panic because the Royals hadn’t even gotten a hit yet. The Royals didn’t do anything in the top of the second, so that didn’t help my panicking. In the bottom of the second, the Mets didn’t score anything.

Off to second I went in the blink of an eye. About halfway down the the second baseline I see my dad out of the corner of my eye. He is on third base motioning for me to round second and go to third. As I am just about to slide in I see the third baseman go to catch the ball. I slid in creating a huge cloud of dirt and in the midst of this I hear a loud “OUT”.

The sun was fading and it was night time , but there we were, watching the game . The braves were up next to bat but the other team kept catching all the balls . The same thing happened with the giants over and over again, no one was making points . We thought the game would stay tied all night .

It stayed like this for 2 more innings. The 8th inning we had runners on 2nd and 1st base. Our runners steal the bases. The one stealing to third base almost got out but the catcher threw the ball wrong and we scored the winning

The score was fifty-six to fifty-eight. As soon as I came in the game, I knew I was still on fire from the first half, so I smiled because I knew I was going to get the ball. When I got the ball, I shot a mid-range shot and I tied the game up. Then time went by to where nobody was scoring. It was like both teams were playing good defense, but the other team had scored with six seconds on the clock.

It was a cold, dark, snowy, average Michigan morning. Wham! My bedroom door opened and my mom told me it was time to get up for school. I was hoping that we would have had a snow day with all of the snow that accumulated during the night, but we didn 't because Jenison never closes school for snow. It was such a struggle to even get out of bed!

I couldn’t stand up. My legs felt as if they didn’t work and I could barely breath. This was the greatest feeling I’ve ever experienced. I knew I had just gotten my first high school swimming gold medal.

Personal Narrative Essay Believe it or not, sometimes a gracious action can bring a huge influence on a person. When I read the introduction that instructor Heller wrote, there is a sentence she wrote: “Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives are smaller moments, events that we may not recognize as influential until years after the experience.” For some reason, I related to it strongly. My story is about my high school experience. Also, I will share some significant moments in my life, and how these smaller moments changed my personality.

My Life’s A Dream When I first came to Springfield High School in 2012 it was quite a terrifying experience. I had just gone from being the top dog in the school to back at the low man on the totem pole. I never knew that I would end up having some of the best experiences of my life here at Springfield High School. One of those experiences throughout these three and half years occurred my Freshman year in the first Freshman game of the year. I never knew that such a scary school from the outside looking in could end up being one of the best experiences to ever occur in my life.

The day of my first ever high school XC meet started out like an ordinary day. I woke up at 6:50 and went downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast. I had a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch(my favorite cereal). I’m Usually the first one up so as I was eating the rest of the family started to make their way downstairs. Once I was ready for school my mom offered me a ride to school which does not normally happen.

“It’s time to go to school now Jam, come and eat your breakfast” my mom shouted very loud until I woke up but I was too sleepy and lazy so I decided to take a rest for just a couple of minutes more. Do you really think that I could sleep for a couple of minutes more and wake up on time? No way!! Finally I woke up and realize that it almost 8o’clock therefore, I was panicking so I forget many necessary school’s tools and I forget to eat my breakfast nevertheless, I just need to walk across Street for about 20 steps then I would reach my school.

It was my last year at Mary Queen of Peace grade school. I meet the best friends of my life, and played sports for my school and played club soccer. My eighth grade year was the year to have fun and be the oldest kids in the school and have kids look up to you for once. It was the year to see what our futures would look like and what we would do with are lives and where we would go for high school. It was the time of my life to make a decision that would depend on the rest of my life.
