I Don’t Want to Be a Logger Living in Cascade, Idaho, I am familiar with going out and getting wood to keep us from freezing to death. Last year when we went to get wood, it was in the winter. I refused to go and work in the snow so I just pretended to be sleeping. The trick didn’t always work, but most of the time it did. My uncle is a logger, so he tells me crazy stories, like almost falling off a cliff, dragging heavy chains up big hills, giant boulders, and lots of medical bills. Working as a logger is a career I would never choose to work because, I’m not fit for all that heavy lifting. Loggers have to wake up early and do these activities all day, everyday, which is a very dangerous lifestyle.
Logging takes a lot of physical strength and energy. I’m not even close to being fit enough to log all day, everyday. When my family and I go and get wood, I dread every moment of the

Loggers spend most of their time outdoors, even when it 's raining or snowing, sometimes they work in the middle of nowhere. They have to work in really rough terrain. One time my uncle had to get a tree that was on the side of a cliff. He had a harness on and was down there cutting the tree. Then, out of nowhere, a boulder came down and threw him off the ledge. As he was falling, he kept on hitting the side of the cliff while he was gripping the harness. This resulted in him having to go to the hospital with a concussion. Another time was when he got his foot wedged beneath a boulder. Okay, so when he was out working under a yarder,a machine that brings logs up hills, after he was done he began the long trek back up the hill, but as he was walking,a boulder a little bit ahead of him came loose and got him. He got out with a very swollen ankle. It was all purple and puffed up, which was gross to look at. He was off work for over 6 weeks. These are just some of the reasons why logging is dangerous, but there are many more ways to get hurt while doing
After roll call you would march to the yard to work. Work would include digging ditches or tunnels, often by hand, and often resulting in death because you could work fast enough for the guards approval with your hands and you would be shot. Work would usually be 12-14 hours a day, moving sandbags, digging, moving heavy stones, or even working in a factory. Factory work was just as horrible as working in the yard, being in a factory didn’t mean you had it easy. All work in a camp was very stressful, laborious, and long.
The POWs worked from sunrise to sunset with only one day off every ten days. Out of 61,000 men who were slaves, 13,000 died on or because of the job (“World War Two”). Guards would assign pointless assignments for the POWs to perform. One such burden was to have the men carry huge bags of coal up and down hills just to tire them out. They had the POWs build their airfields and mine their coal.
We went up the hill for a couple of more runs, and just like you already know we got on the chairlift and put on our bindings once we got off. We went all the way to the right side of the hill and carved down the soft snow. While I was going down, my board hit a small ice ball and my board caught an edge and I landed hard on my butt.
They can also cause damage to property because of the force coming down the mountain side is strong enough to destroy a house. They have also been known to cause a lot of casualties, because they can get caught in the avalanche and become buried, to get them unburied would take someone
Future of Life Chapters 6-7 Daniel H It Says/Quote: “When the great forest is gone, possibly by 2020 at the present rate of cutting, there will be no more jobs. Land cut over in the region is mostly abandoned, and poverty within it is greater than before.
There is one thing in the woods that is really exciting and that is turkey hunting. Turkeys will get your heart racing and you blood rushing and have you shaking in just five seconds. When he comes up there strutting, spitting, and drumming, that’s when it gets real. When you hit that “yawt yawt” and he cuts you off gobbling that is when you know that he is just as good as dead. I am gonna tell plenty of turkey hunting experiences that i have had so i do not have to have a works cited page or nothing.
Firstly, there are rescue workers whose job is to save people in danger. According to Ranger Killed During Rescue of Climbers on Mount Rainier, “Hall, a native of Patten, Maine, had been with the park’s climbing program for four years, the release said” This explains why rescue workers have the job to save people because this is an example of one worker who had worked for a climbing program. It was specifically made for the purpose of rangers to be there in case a climber would have an accident and not be able to recover by themselves. However, rescue workers also have a high chance of being injured or even dying along with the people who were already in danger. While the rescue workers could also be injured or lose their life, rescuing people is their job.
I have 5 kids and a beautiful wife back home, if I ain’t see them again that’d be devastating. That’s what you put on the line though, everytime you come back into this black hole. There's no question mining is a dangerous occupation, but it doesn't have to be unsafe. Our culture has changed to the point where it's not acceptable to get hurt or killed on the job, so we've made regulations to help prevent it. If you just do things the way you're supposed to, there's a good chance of finishing out a long career in the mining industry, and you can look forward to a good
This is significant because not many people have the knowledge to survive physically as well as mentally in Mount Everest like Grylls does, and he can use that knowledge to his advantage. When he was racing to the cookhouse, “Look at yourself, Bear, I thought. Today is Endurance. Yet you can hardly walk to the cookhouse.” (p. 197)
No matter the situation it takes experience, loyalty, and being aware to be a survivor. To begin with Aron Ralston was hiking and got his arm smashed under a rock, Aron used experience to help him survive this tragic event. On page 3 of "trapped" by Aron Ralston, Ralston recalls his experience as a search and rescue worker and makes a pulley. Ralston uses his experience to create a pulley
Another position of employment was being a trapper/door boy. They had to be there to open and close a heavy wooden gate when a coal car was coming through. It was a very lonely job snd they had to sit on a bench all day, occasionally opening a door for the coal cars. Another big industry of employment was glassblowing. They had to work in a 130 degree room with a salary of 65 cents per day.
The Annapurna massif has about thirteen peaks which are over 7,000 meters and sixteen more that are over 6,000 meters high. For this reason many climbers have been attracted to the different peaks of the Annapurna massif. But what makes Annapurna more dangerous than Mt. Everest? According to statistics and history, for every 100 climbers there were 32 who have died. These are mainly because of the snowstorms, sudden avalanches, and extreme weather conditions.
Robert Hall is the one most responsible for deaths of those that died in the Mount Everest Disaster. One of the reasons that is, is that he was paid to keep them safe. “We guarantee the maximise the safety and success of your adventure (37).” Although he does say we agree to maximise safety, maximise being the keyword, he does
There are many different dangerous jobs, being a lineman is definitely one of them. Many people are injured or die on this job, but they are very needed. Linemen are men and women who fix/build electrical systems. Their job is very dangerous because they are dealing with electricity and sometimes heights.
Logging has also in fact become a much safer profession than it was in the past. According to Baker and Greene, the number of Lost time Accidents (OSHA reportable accidents which would require $1,000 in medical costs and 1 day of missed work) in Georgia, have dropped 90 percent between 1987 and 2007(Baker & Greene,
