I woke to to the smell of bacon. I assumed that Jenna had breakfast already made, as she always does. Bacon and eggs, every Sunday. I walk into the kitchen, Jenna greets me, “ G’morning Christian, scrambled or over easy?”. “Scrambled”, I respond groggily. There's a cup of coffee waiting for me at the head of the table. Just before I go for a drink, Noah and Brittney run to the couch and turn on the TV to watch cartoons. “Morning kids” “Morning Dad,” both kids say simultaneously. I don't know what to do except watching cartoons with Brittney and Noah, so I walk over to the counter where there's a stack of mail waiting there for me. “Bills, Bills, Bills”, I run through my head, until I flip to a different looking envelope. “Whats this”, I say under my breath. I open it and the first thing I see is a federal stamp, I start reading. “Hello, Christian Robinson, on behalf of the U.S. military, you have been selected to attend the military in the war against the axis forces…” My whole body feels numb, the sound of cartoons cancels out, my mind goes blank. I can feel my face turning green, terrible thoughts running …show more content…
It finally stops and I can feel my leg aching, we both see a cave, the entrance covered with vines. We crawl in. I peek through and see the Japanese taking another way down, we go deeper into the cave. We hear the enemy passing by, we’re completely silent for an hour. Clutching our guns close to ourselves. After an hour, we try to radio back to the base but there's no signal. We need to be higher up. We stay the day in the cave, we decide to go to find higher ground at night. We mostly sleep the whole time. Trading shifts. Until it's pitch black outside. We start to head out, first we try to find food because we both are starving. We find an apple tree and have the first bite of food all day. We find a cliff, but it's inhabited by Japanese. So we come up with a
Done Peyton was done with her homework and decided to go on her laptop and play a game. Don't Maddie said “ don’t tell mom that I got an A+ on my test because I want to tell her. ” Dozen Mason went to the store and bought a dozen of eggs, bacon, bread, sausage, pancake mix, hash browns, oatmeal, and fresh strawberries for breakfast.
John, Sadie’s brother, sped down the stairs and when he sat in his chair he began to inhale his eggs. “Where are your manners John?” Sadie said eating a forkful of eggs. “Blehhhh” John said sticking out his tongue revealing his chewed up food. Pa walked in and slammed the door.
The horrible rumbling of the ground started again. I couldn’t look. It gave me distance from my heart and soul, whilst the soviets struck back with old-time Stalinist savagery. The entirety of the Hungarian army was encircled by a sea of red. Tears began to stream down my cheeks.
Fall Hike in October I’m running out of my house, slamming the door behind me and shouting, “I’m free!” at the top of my air-filled pink lungs. I get a few weird looks from the neighbors that are outside and a few from even the one’s inside but they’re used to my usual crazy outbursts. I don’t know if I should be worried by that or not.
The 6:00 am alarm rings. I do not budge. 10 minutes pass. 15 minutes pass. 30 minutes pass.
Entering the once lonely house, there was a family rejoicing with a long-gone relative. As striking as the first rose in spring, her silky, soft, shiny hair combined with her enticingly exquisite eyes: producing a sublime look. Her upturned nose, oval face and elegant cheeks exhilarated hope within anyone in sight; she filled a void that could only be filled by her. Instantly ejecting any ridicule of the family, her presence made the household regain its original nobility. Spiralling into circle after circle on the indigo walls, like an optical illusion, numerous twirling lines were being contained in a plethora of thin liable cracks; suggesting, this house is enriched in Pangaea-old traditions.
I watched him before feeling a hard shove to the chest, and quickly looked down to see a man leaning against me, blood spewing from a wound in his stomach. I flinched and quickly helped the man to the ground, staring at him in fear and confusion as I saw the life drain from his brown eyes. I knew this kid. He was a young soldier, only twenty years young… He had his whole life ahead of him, but it was taken away by one single
I looked at Sergeant Wilson, gave him the nod, and our soldiers jumped in by the hundreds. Soon, the bodies of our fallen brothers started making a bridge for other soldiers to cross. Just as we were making it across, the water seemed to drain out of the river. I looked over my shoulder and saw a huge tsunami making its way towards us. The water current continued to raise and lower drastically taking the lives of more of my men so we retreated in order to come up with a new strategy.
"When he started towards us it was almost like everything went into tight focus, - When he made his move, my whole body just tensed up. - All my senses were directed forward at the man running at us with a gun. - I didn 't hear a thing, not one thing. - All I know is the next thing I knew I was standing on two feet looking down at the guy. I don 't know how I got there.
Growing up, I have learned about both World Wars, the Cold War, The Vietnam War, and the War on Terrorism. As interesting as war can be and how much one can learn from a cultures because of war, I have grown tired of wars. I have gone to public school for all of my education and I have seen multiple cases of bullying and too many acts of rudeness. As I mature, I find myself coming to terms with the world and my life, I am becoming to love all of it. When I wake up, my favorite thing to do is step outside and inhale the brisk morning air and admire the world I live in.
nzie was ten when he received it, only weeks before the war broke out. He sat in front of this same window crying. That was the day his family left him; the day they abandoned him to this hellhole, this prison, and sealed his inevitable fate. He recalled a gentle hand rested on his back, and a sweet voice that spoke beside him. “Why are you crying, dear?”
Framed I was running, I don’t know where, but any where’s safe, anywhere but here. The wet mud under my feet made my brand new Nike Flex TR’s look as if I had had this pair of shoes forever. The cops were chasing me, I know why. I didn’t bomb the Remembrance day at the Memorial Gardens in Manhattan, I was framed. You’d think I’d tell them what happened, but police don’t respect terrorists.
The date is August 22, 1791. Today is the day when we, the Haitian slaves, plan on massacring the French troops who will be arriving on the beach of Saint- Domingue. My father Ricardo and his army are sitting in a circle discussing strategies. He picks up a stick, draws a line in the sand and points at the right side of the line. ¨This is the sea where the French will come in from.¨
“Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Terry shrugged as he lit the cigarette in his hand. That is one of the most vivid memories of him I have. I don’t know why it’s this moment specifically that I remember. I just remember how we were sitting in the warm grass in the middle of the forest, where we would play as children.
Section 2: Event 1- Vietnam Conflict 1) You were young at this time, at the start did you understand the Vietnam conflict? How did the media portray the issue? I feel I had a fairly clear understanding of the issues.
