Next year at Embry-Riddle I plan start studying Cyber Intelligence and Security. Ever since middle school I knew I had a developing interest in the field of computer science and spent most of my time building the skills to excel in my classes. One of the first projects I got to use the computer on was a video for the Oregon Trail. I decided that it would be best to design an advertisement to showcase the facts in a new and creative way. When my group turned the project in, and it was shown to the class my teacher rewrote the assignment according to what we did and used it as an example of great work when recruiting new people. As proud as I was in this project I knew I couldn’t stop there and continued to seek out opportunities to better myself and the environment around me. Some of the favorite things I have done include attending a cyber forensics seminar and obtaining an award in a coding event for best educational game. The reason I choose Embry-Riddle as opposed to …show more content…
In past years I have taken web design, intro to java programming, and game design. At first I was planning to take an easier set of classes for my senior year but I looked at the classes from Embry-Riddle and decided to challenge myself. One of the other AP classes I ended up in was government politics. In this class there is a lot of overlapping issues with government and cyber forensics. Examples of these include the Apple vs. FBI case and the Hillary Clinton email sever scandal. Both of these stories covered by the news are only touching the surface of what is to come, the court interpretation of the 4th amendment search and seizure in criminal cases has the potential to redefine the unstated but implied right to privacy. I would like to be a part of this expanding debate and help protect the privacy of others while also taking down those who represent a clear and present danger to
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
In my freshman year, I made a choice to relinquish some of my social life and replace that time giving back to my community. I joined a non-profit organization called the Volunteer Corp. We spent our time at food banks, park clean-ups, and even hosting local events. This experience left a lasting impression on me in many ways; however, one experience changed my perspective on life and serve as a constant reminder of how the smallest contribution to others can be the most powerful. St. Joseph University, in Philadelphia, held an event called Hand in Hand. It was an event dedicated to raising awareness for people with physical and/or developmental disabilities.
Hearing about what the class will be about I realize that I will need to put a lot of time and effort into that class.
My whole life long, I have been trying to find a place where I can truly fit in. I have also been worried about what I would do when I grew up. I was torn between my passion for horses and my passion for performing. There was no way I could give up one for the other, so I searched the net for Christian colleges that had majors in both equine studies and vocal performance and there it appeared: Asbury University. It was manna from Heaven.
The constitutional issue I am analyzing is the violation of the fourth amendment. There have been many cases of people’s fourth amendment rights being violated, some times it is justified and other times it was violated unreasonably. It is very important that our fourth amendment rights are protected and US citizens private lives aren't being infringed upon and unreasonably searched. In the past recent years there have been Supreme court cases that involve the violation of the fourth amendment.
I am a leader, a whole hearted person that believes in the greater good, a selfless individual, an intellectual young adult, and a brave character, and it is on account of these qualities that I feel Montclair State University is the school for me. Being that I am an individual that has matured intellectually, emotionally, and now has the motivation needed to seek a positive trajectory and path in life, and I believe this school could only help further my growth as a person and strengthen my academic abilities. Writing has always been one of my strong suits and it is the best method I’ve learned as a way to express myself. Growing up, I had a rough childhood, and it was through reading and writing that I learned to better my perspective towards life.
In five to ten years, I am uncertain of where I will be, which career I will have, or what activities I will be a part of, which I believe to be the truth for most entering college. However, the four pillars of Purdue University’s Honors College are, to an extent, already instilled within my character. I am certain that with being an Honors student in the future, I will be living a life only possible through cultivating my already existing character traits into columns to support not only my education, but my life after college. While always being a scholar, my post-academic life, as I see it, will contain a career that is constantly challenging and evolving. Cybersecurity, my current course of study, mirrors these values.
For the past two years, I have been inundated with letters from colleges, which were excessive to the point of forcing me to throw away unopened, unread letters because I was too overwhelmed with the enormity of the decision that lay before me. But Oberlin has somehow mastered the art of informing without smothering. I was sent postcards about Oberlin that told me about life at Oberlin, and showed me the soul of the school. I felt that Oberlin genuinely “wished I was there”, and I began to wish I was there, too. So when I started seriously researching my options I realized that Oberlin College had a vibrant, diverse history department, a dynamic English department, and offered a concentration in education.
Have you ever realized that as you get older you slowly have less and less time to do anything fun or spontaneous? For me, I may not be considered old, but lately it seems to be getting harder to do anything such as hanging out with friends, hanging out with my girlfriend, and even just watching television. As I get older it is becoming increasingly difficult to stay young. All of my time has been taken with the pressures of school, so that I can build a career, and working 2 jobs. I’ve been working at McDonalds for about 3 years and The Home Depot for almost a year now.
I am particularly interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and I hope to take courses in these areas that will allow me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of the field and the potential applications of these technologies. I also hope to take courses in other areas of computer science, such as databases and computer networks, that will broaden my knowledge and give me a well-rounded
First of all, thanks for taking your time to write this recommendation letter, considering you probably have many more to write. I wish for you to write one because your sophomore English Honors class was the first challenging class I experienced in all my years of learning. I remember failing the first essay you assigned; I felt like giving up and I was certain the class would be more challenging than I previously thought. My prognostication was right, it was not easy, however I did improve by the end of the year and I had confidence in performing sharpened English work in my Junior and Senior year. To this day, I continue to improve my literary essays now that I have AP.
Sophomore year was an especially hard year for me. It was my second year at Wahlert High School and because I was the new kid the beginning of freshman year, I still felt like the new girl. Plus, I was trying to maintain my social life, play volleyball, participate in band, choir and show choir, act in plays, and manage school and homework. School has always been easy for me. Kindergarten through eighth grade I never actually tried on assignments, or even tests for that matter.
These courses included Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electronics, and Web Programming. The program challenged me to think critically and creatively, and I developed a deep appreciation for the intricacies of technology. However, my interest in cybersecurity and threat defense was
To me first generation means that even though my parents didn’t attend college I will. College has always been in my future plans, but because I’m undocumented I’ve always had my doubts on the idea. When Sophomore year came around that’s when it really hit me. I wanted to take the dual credits they offered at my school, I wanted to earn my own money, and I want to start driving, but because I lacked a social security number I was unable receive anything.
When I read The Lord of the Rings I remember a quote that sums up my current educational journey, “Home is behind, the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread through shadows to the edge of night, until the stars are all alright.” In high school I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going with life. As a kid I had dreams of being a Jedi when I grew up, and the next Indiana Jones, or an actor. I could do and be anything I wanted, and it was not an impossible thought since I had taken an interest in doing activities around these different subjects. I was even learning the piano and violin and I still play to this day.
