Personal Narrative: Winter Rage At Clackamas High School

Learning a Life Lesson Reading A Long Way Gone, a book about child soldiers, in Sierra Leone during the 1990’s made me feel disgusted because of the treatment of the young children. Reading about the most disturbing sequence in life, dealing with children my age or under made me realize how much life means. I could not imagine ever going through anything that will determine my life well-being. This made me look forward to more in life and appreciate the life I do live, because everyone doesn't have it like I do.

A simple thank you changed my perspective on life. While I was distributing food at my local homeless shelter one lady, in particular, caught my attention. She had tears in her eyes as I served her lasagna. Seeing how desperate people were in need of assistance snapped me out of my selfish bubble and fueled my desire to help my community. I initially embarked on my volunteer journey to begin building hours for my community service requirements, but I genuinely became invested in helping my community.

I did the volunteer blitz, which consists of a bunch of different activities including making cards, owls, turkeys, package for jumpstart etc. The most important part of the day was knowing that these simple acts of kindness would brighten up someone’s day. I learned that a simple thing like creating a card will change someone’s life for the better. There were many different activities that we could have done during the Blitz. I made some cards for veterans and also children who were in the hospital.

In December we have a posada which is celebrating Jesus’ birthday it’s either a week or just a day. So later on in that month we start to ask for donations for food that we use to make burritos. The day before christmas we wake up early in the morning to prepare everything to make the burritos. We also give our time to volunteer at the food bank and help pack the food, we also donate food to them as well. My personal favorite is volunteering at the animal shelter just being with all the dogs and cats is just amazing.

My brother and I come up with a plan to clean ice and remaining snow off of cars and sidewalk for money. I had always wanted to do something like this but never had the chance till now. Every house we went up to was friendly and we made about twenty dollars each that day. A few days later school is back in session. This time of felt like a holiday break

"Cruel Winter Blues" starts as another crime film revolving around revenge, but as the story proceeds, it becomes something very different. Two mafia guys, veteran Jae-moon and his subordinate, local boy Chi-guk arrive to the small town of Bolgyo in order to ambush and kill Dae-sik, a member of a rival gang. During their stay, they start to adapt to the everyday life in the town: Chi-guk associates himself with the local taekwondo school, since he used to be a champion in the sport, and Jae-moon becomes friendly with the owner of a local restaurant, who happens to be Dae-sik's mother. Lee Jeong-beom, who penned and directed the film in his debut, built it around two axes: Jae-moon's relationship with the rest of the characters, and revenge.

Over the summer, I volunteered at Meals on Wheels in SE Portland. I helped with food preparation, served meals and washed dishes. I felt sad for the seniors who can't get food on their own and have to trust facilities like Meals on Wheels to feed them. Meals on Wheels helped me grow in the “Loving” and “Committed to Doing Justice” of the Profile of a Jesuit Graduate. The “Loving” part of the Profile helped me connect with other people who are not as privileged as I am.

In fourth grade, my grade school made us conduct a stewardship project. I chose to do a drive for the Pregnancy Assistant Center. Students could donate money or diapers. I was able to give the Pregnancy Assistance Center 34 packages of diapers and $1100. These are just a few ways I have committed myself to stewardship.

The past year I have volunteered to help kids learn to ice skate because one day they could have the same feeling for the game as I do. If it wasn't for hockey I would have a totally different identity. I learned the importance of brotherhood and other great valuable lessons being a part of a

We would prepare and serve food for homeless people. This was an impactful and eye opening experience for me. The people we served were so grateful and even though they did not have much, they had their faith. This experience ties into Psalm 23 because it exemplifies the message that the Lord loves and cares for all his people; followers of Christ should help other followers. I think God means for us all to help one another so we can all progress and become closer to Him.

My mom informed me that school was cancelled and I was going to stay home all day. Every kid around our area knows the excitement a kid feels from the words “snow day”. Not only was it a snow day, but it was my tenth birthday.

When I was young and one of the parents brought me home a pair of new shoes, that did not have a hole in them, made me the happiest kid. Even though my parents bought them for a garage sale, does not mean they still were not

Operation Christmas Child Children around the world are homeless,hungry,in orphanages,and have nothing to have fun with. Some children blame god for everything and that's not good, so a group of people got together and made samaritan's Purse and that made Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas child is for the children who don’t have anything or little to nothing and living in a very bad environment like a dump or landfill. This happens around the world and Samaritan's Purse is trying to stop it. They let the children know that they are loved and they are the future.

The year I spent volunteering at Dufferin care centre really had a great impact on me. At first I was scared because I would be taking care of fragile old people and might make a mistake, but afterwards I found Dufferin like a small town. It was a small town that everyone is happy to see me and greets me, even though they forget my name now and then. I usually leave the boarding house during the weekend to at Dufferins. What I do is push the elders outside for some fresh air and play cards and chess with them.

Ive became close with some of my kids and they have really opended up to me and i realized how hard some of their lifes are and how much of a postive impact I make on these kids. Some of the kids I work with all from all different ages and I got the pleasure to have a couple kids come into the high school as freshman while I was senior and they were so scared to come in but I've never seen their eyes
