I have chosen public health as my major because it is a dynamic field. I have a passion for making a difference in people’s lives and helping others achieve their goals. It is with great passion that I am dedicated and willing to contribute my service or skills to help someone in need. My philosophy of health education is very simple, to prevent, improve and educate the lives of individuals, families, communities, populations, and societies. Besides, there is no safer way to touch people’s lives than through public health. I was not born into the world to do everything, but I was born into the world with great intentions; intentions to make a difference, to be an outstanding leader, ambassador, and advocate to serve and give back to the society. Ever since I have known myself, I have always wanted to become a nurse. A hardship that has made me stronger is, after my first semester in the pre-nursing …show more content…
I strongly value my health and believe that health is our greatest form of wealth. When one lives a healthy lifestyle, it means more opportunities to explore the world, build families, achieving anything the heart desires and conquering personal goals. The behavior change philosophy fits my personal philosophy of health education the most because it involves goal setting, behavioral contracts and self-monitoring to help foster the modification of an unhealthy habit. The behavior change philosophy is very important because change is a process, not an event. Self-efficacy and motivation are key factors in successful behavior changes. In life I value success, balance, freedom, resilience and my well-being. These values will influence my career because, when choosing a career, it is important to have values. People who choose careers that are aligned with beliefs and values are more likely to find contentment and success in their
For example, does my patient have the financial means to follow through with my advice? Is the type of food or treatment I’m suggesting culturally acceptable to this client? The Bachelor of Arts selective courses appeal more to me with the vast selection of Health Promotion, Professional Leadership, and especially Social Justice. I truly believe that a BA in Public Health from the University of Washington is vital to my future. The degree will help prepare me for a position of leadership to help our nation’s service members become more productive, and healthier, which will allow them in turn to lead happier and more productive lives with their families.
I have decided to pursue nursing and apply for the second degree accelerated nursing program; I consider myself a highly motivated individual with a value of strong work ethic. I can certainly distinguish myself as a person with numerous interests, a range of skills and goals. My Goals are to become a highly skilled nurse, work for the united state military and help save lives. Just like my father, I would love to provide a great humanitarian service, not for the pay or the glory or the recognition but to save lives, give hope, provide care, love and touch
This dedication and persistence to ensuring excellent medical care has inspired me to go into nursing, so that I may give back like these medical professionals gave
Eventually, our mental and emotional awareness will be molded that we can conquer almost everything, even the most challenging situations in life. For that reason, I deserve to give myself a chance to stand up for what I believe in and to follow my vision no matter where it takes me. More than ever, I am ready to face my fears of failing so I can pursue my education and become a successful Registered Nurse in the near future. What actually inspires me to move forward comes from a famous quote. According to Maya Angelou, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues because, without courage, you can 't practice any other virtue consistently.”
Throughout my life diligence, motivation, and passion has always been some of the qualities instilled within me in order to succeed in life. Of all of these, passion was above them all --feeling passionate about your goals in life by knowing you are making a difference in the world. To feel this passion, the reward of helping others, I knew, would greatly achieve this for me. Finding a career in health care that I felt this passion for was very important for me.
Jackie Robinson once said that "a life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives". As a child, I knew that my purpose in life was to be in a profession where I would make a positive impact on other people 's lives. I sustained that belief as I engaged in various community service projects and volunteer work. As I became older, I decided that I wanted to work in a field that combined health care and social justice. Public Health is the right field for me because I wholeheartedly believe in its mission.
I have never been seriously ill or injured and my family is generally healthy. Considering my favorable fortune with health, I rarely come in contact with nurses or doctors. Yet, I aspire to become a nurse; a decision I came to partially because of the numerous praises I see and hear about nurses. The effect that nurses can have on their patients is profound. Nurses have the ability to turn what can be a frightening experience in a hospital or doctor’s office into a mild or even enjoyable time.
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. I’m very passionate and fascinated with the medical field in all aspects. I strive for excellence, integrity and love interacting with all diversity of people.
The moment I decided to become a nurse I was a twenty-one-year-old mother with a three-month old beautiful baby girl and needed money to support her. I thought if start as a certified nurse assistant that would be the first step of becoming a nurse. As a certified nurse assistant, I would learn how to interact with patients and their family members. Meanwhile, I had the opportunity to see what nurses deal with on a daily basis. When I was younger, I would always take care of my family, as far as babysitting, doing hair, and helping with my elderly grandmother.
I know I want to study Public Health because I was one of them. I want to learn skills to empower individuals, making a difference locally within a community that can change lives. I want to combine service with education and medicine. My life experiences, my hardships growing up, my path towards a future where I can make my own choices and have the resources to pursue a career in healthcare, have given me strength, commitment, and most importantly,
Every since I was little, I pictured a life of a nurse to be in scrubs talking to patients and injecting shots into people’s arm while handing out lollipops to children. Little did I know that nursing was more than making people feel physically better. It is a job that is geared to the well-being of the patient’s physical and emotional state as well to connect with patients. In order to be more involved, I motivated myself to participate in more leadership and community orientated roles within my school and outside of
Growing up with parents very passionate about the health care field has had a tremendous influence on my decision to pursue the health sciences, which also can explains my dedication to helping others and my fascination with science. I’ve always been intrigued with the field of science, mostly because it interested me to see how living organisms functioned. This was especially true when it came to understanding the human body more. Obviously, choosing anything but nursing as my major was out of the question.
Since after my high school, I have been involved in community service from sanitation, education and assisting underprivileged populations; both young and old. In fact, my interest in public works has grown beyond what I feel I am capable of doing in the community and for people who need it most. Nevertheless I came to America as student admitted into business administration in 2003. Later, given the the medical field prospect, I switched into nursing in the same insttions; Kent State University in 2010 after a long break. I do believe that human services is an inborn desire therefore, I chose nursing as of expression such human service gift for the greater good to the community and the people that I share the world with.
My level of interest in this field actually has gone up because it seems to have a lot of different oppurtunites and also a lot of different paths I could choose from. I feel with public health I wouldn’t be restricted to just one age group or one environment and I could present myself with lots of choices. Professor Higgin’s really did spark my interest in this field because for a while I had only set my mind to nursing but I never exactly looked at public health. Things like epidemiology I find very fascinating
I have always wanted to pursue a career related to the medical field, and it wasn't until my freshman year of college that I encountered the area of public health. I was immediately drawn to the specific area of epidemiology and infectious diseases. I am now a junior at the University of Texas majoring in Public Health with a concentration in microbiology and infectious diseases. I find epidemiology so enthralling, as it is implements ways in which we can scientifically and statistically describe diseases and the mortality/morbidity as well as predict how and why they spread. More so, I think the infectious disease aspect is interesting as well, because while the United States has shifted from burden of infectious disease to that of chronic
