Personal Statement For Dentistry

The career that fascinates me and what I plan to be when Im older, is a Dental Hygienist. A dental hygienist is a stressful job, but it helps a lot of people. You are helping people get better teeth and even look better, because when people have straight pretty teeth, they seem to have an upgrade in their looks. I haven’t always wanted to be a dental hygienist, I had many other career choices. But, something about making people smile when I’m the reason they look good doing it makes me happy.

Imagine the whole world having perfect, clean shiny teeth. Imagine being the one to make this happen. This would not be able to occur if it weren’t for dental hygienists. Dental hygienists are the reason why people have the confidence to smile. Dental hygiene is a great career choice for anyone willing to help people’s physical appearance and health.

There are increasing numbers of careers in the United States. In ranking, one of the best health care job’s in top four career is dental hygienist. The career as dental hygienist intrigued me, when as a child I used to have lots of cavity in my teeth and I had to visit the dental office frequently. Then I did not know about the dental hygienist job but I was very curious about the instruments and tools and always wondered how do they make the tooth ache go away.

Abstract The main goal in becoming a Dental Hygienist is being professional and knowledgeable in every aspect of dental hygiene. In dental hygiene, there are several professional roles one can choose from. Some of these roles include that of being an educator, researcher, entrepreneur, administrator, corporate, clinician, and public health. The scope of dental hygiene has evolved since it first became a profession in the 1900’s (Wilkins, Wyche, & Boyd 2017).

Dental Hygienist There are many careers in the world that you can choose from and could have interest in. One career that I have found interest in is being a Dental Hygienist. My motivation in life thrives when I face challenges. My biggest challenge was moving away from my family and developing my network on my own. Growing up as a member of a Korean family, our greatest values are gathering and having quality time. Thus, it was hard to accept that I am no longer involved in family times due to the long distance. However, as I had more time for myself, I could look back at myself and explore my interest.

My classmates, faculty, and coworkers know me to be an accountable student and employee. My experience in customer service and administration, paired with my education in dental assisting and dental hygiene allows me to be a cross-trained employee who is willing to jump in and help accomplish any task in the dental office. I understand the fast-paced environment of dentistry and am always willing to lend a helping hand to coworkers to ensure our clients receive the best care while we as teammates feel valued. As a student, I recognize that I am just beginning to learn the ins and outs of this profession and I have learned the value of observing those ahead of me. I take note of feedback from instructors who have experience beyond my knowledge and use their feedback, good or bad, as an opportunity to grow and improve my skills.

Growing up children have think they know what they want to be when they grow up but as they progress and get older they’re ideal career changes for the most part based on the changes they go threw themselves and experiences. For example I wanted to be an Actress because I would to watch the a lot of movies on the daily basis but then as I got older that changed, my ideal job now is have a good paying job and not have to work excess hours. I Chose Dental assisting because the dentistry field has a lot to offer I have always wanted to work in the health field and unlike medical nursing, Dental Assistants have more control of their schedule also they have a wide variety of options from working in private offices to working in public health departments also offers good hours, pay and

The career field that I have chosen to go into is the medical field. In the medical field I would like to become a dental hygienist. The background that I have on dental hygienist is that you exam gums, clean teeth, and teach about oral care. The research that I have already done on this profession is a dental hygienist annual salary and required hour of work. Some more research I utilized is how many years of college are needed, what you do while at work, and if you work by yourself or who you work with.

My ambition to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy at University commenced in my teenage years, when I first came to London and visited the dentist. The professional approach coupled with a kind and compassionate nature and all of the different instruments and scientific technology the Dental Hygienist and Therapist used fascinated me. I am currently studying Dental Nursing at Teesside University. This course involves providing correct support to the dentist at the chair side, reassuring and supporting patients, maintaining a gold standard clinical environment, charting, dental anatomy and physiology. Studying this course has enhanced my knowledge of dental terminology and procedures as well as the anatomy of the oral cavity.

Being a Dental Assistant Dental Assistants can help change a person’s life in many ways. Dental assistants provide their patients a way to stay healthy within oral activities while also providing general happiness to a patient. Assistants work hand in hand with a dental hygienist observing, supporting, and caring for the patients need, whenever they need them. They work with tools, sit and stand long periods per day, and work in one of the dirtiest places on the human body, the mouth (Summary). Dental Assistants practice safety measures, just like any other doctor would, to assure the safety of themselves, along with the safety of their patients and organs that are being worked on from infectious diseases.

Most children would reply by saying a superhero, a professional basketball player, a model, etc. My response was always, someone who can make a difference in an individual's life. Finding out how I was going to do that exactly was challenging until I reached my junior year in high school.

Ever since I was young, dentistry had sparked my interest for my career. Dentistry appeals to me chiefly because I had always wanted to be involved in a profession where I can help people. My love towards human biology especially human teeth also contributes to my career choice. Most importantly, I find human teeth interesting, often fascinating. Due to my compassionate nature, I have since long known that I would want to pursue dentistry as my career because I get to form relationships with my patients, work hand in hand with many people on a face to face basis.
