If you haven’t been keeping up with today’s debates, then I advise you should. You might know many of the top topics that people have always argued over for a hundred years now like abortion, the legal drinking age, and the death penalty, but what I am going to talk about is none of these, I’ve chosen instead everyone’s favorite topic which of course is gun control! Gun control has been a huge topic of discussion in the United States today. Recently, there has been many unpleasant events that have happened involving guns, and if you haven’t kept up much with the news and are wondering why is this certain issue being brought up a lot here recently? Then let me to tell you.

At this very moment in time, the pendulum for the United States is not swinging in the right direction. We are moving farther away from the utopian world that was once desired by many Americans across the United States. This is partly due to the school shootings that have been occurring nation wide. It seems that the majority population is being torn apart by such a controversial issue. The people in the United Sates that do not support Trumps decisions would rather seem him fail, than accept the fact that he is our president and to see him do something good with his power.

This world has become filled with unimaginable violence and a significant amount of deaths caused by mass public shooters. The targets of the mass shootings have been places that have a gun-free zone sign posted on the wall. In 1995, the gun-free school zone act was passed which prohibited a person, with possession of a firearm, to step foot on school grounds. This act would allow certain people to be exempt from the gun-free school zone, which includes retired law enforcement officers and a person licensed to carry a concealed weapon. This bill would keep a school relatively safe because it would mean a person that does not have a license to carry a concealed firearm would be charged with a felony.

When was it ever a smart idea to broadcast bad situations like it was entertainment? People see horrific situations and the media constantly replays it like it’s supposed to be praised. School shootings shouldn’t be heard of at all and it makes it hard to ignore bad situations when people are jumping to hear about the next bad event. Media coverage of school shootings should not be overly broadcasted because it can cause more problems in the end.

Every year they are countless reports of school shootings ending in injury or death.
