Doug. Respectfully, your either a ineffective board member or your intentionally misleading folks. My finger is pointing directly at the truth. Certain folks within the Chambers Executive team are effectively actin as a financial conduit, funding our career elected officials to promote an particular outside interest in Folsom. My proof is solid. Check each incumbents 460 contribution form. I 'll even give you the link. (https://www.folsom.ca.us/depts/city_clerk/elections___fppc.asp) You 'll see all the $70,000 + for Howell, Morin and Miklos campaign materials came from the Chambers Political Action Committee (BizPAC) and outside developers who all have projects currently in Folsom. This includes almost every subsidiary LLC South of 50. But the establishment politicians in Folsom say there 's zero conflict of interests... Right! Now, where did the money the Chamber raised come from and where was it spent? Almost 100% of BizPAC 's money came from outside development companies with current or future development plans in Folsom. BizPAC claims to represent the voice and Folsom small business yet take a guess how much of that money was spent with actual Folsom businesses? 6%! All those Miklos, Morin and Howell signs and mailers were bought using non-Folsom business 's. As a Chamber board member, you should be up in arms, but your not. …show more content…
You know darn well I don 't have a problem with the Chamber staff or its members. I take issue with the political cronies turning the Chamber into a political machine for personal interests, misleading Folsom business 's and most importantly, the residents of Folsom. When you want to make a difference, you know how to
The group felt it was necessary to attempt to persuade the committee in order to have the bill taken out of the Suspense File. It was discussed and decided to draft a letter to persuade the decision-makers of Assembly Bill 1584. There are six Assembly Members who are part of the Assembly Appropriations Committee that will participate in the decision on whether to pass this bill or not. These members include Susan Bonilla, Tony Thurmond, Mark Stone, Brian Malenchein, Patty Lopez, and Ian Calderon.
Last year the local government of my small town, Mclendon Chisholm, deliberately Increased the property tax by 15% without the consent of citizens, and the furtive city council and mayor were both accused of corruption and using the money for their own benefits (e.g. Taking long priceless vacations) . One citizen-- a Robert Steinhagen--Created this website where he wrote articles about the political situation in Mclendon Chisholm; his doctrine won over the people of the town and with much hard work and perspiration he and his running mates took
There is no question that violations have occurred, given that the salary Mr. Collins’ received exceeded the outside earned income limit for senior staff members by $240. The outside earned income limit for senior staff members is $27,225 as of 2015 (“Highlights”, 2015). Mr. Collins earned $27,495. Additionally, Mr. Collins served as Representative Lewis’ campaign treasurer, a positon he is not permitted to hold. When working a campaign for the same the Congressman he works for as one of his senior staff
Since a lot of the roads within Ward 9 are state roads according to Candidate Bruce Livesay, he has determined that members of the community need to go to the state in a unified form in order to get this issue moved up on the states priority list. Property Taxes In the eyes of Candidate Bruce Livesay property taxes are seen as a last resort. He
It is of concern to me that Congressmen that own farmland are not mandated to publicly state who they are. These secret subsidies means that most Congressional farmers are profiting instead of independent farmers. This is money that could circulate in that independent farmer’s community that go to a white collar businessman. So why did the House and the Senate mutually agree to not list the Congressman with shares in the farming industry?
On June 6th, 1978, nearly two-thirds of California’s voters passed Proposition 13 which reduced property tax rates on homes, businesses, and farms by about 57%. The tax rate prior to Proposition 13 was averaged about 3% of the market value, but there were no limits on increases for the tax rate. Many of the properties were reassessed 50% to 100% in just one year and their owners’ property tax bills increased as well. Under Proposition 13 tax reform, property tax value was rolled back and stabled at the 1976 assessed value level. So no property tax on any given home, business, or farm could increase more than 2% per year but only if the property was not sold to a new owner.
In the past few years, the United States has seen a huge spike in the money spent in federal elections (See Appendix 4.B). Not only have candidates been making greater efforts to communicate their ideas to the American public, but super PACs have also been displaying their support for candidates and their political policies; they do so by using their right to accept unlimited donations from the public and later, use that money to promote certain candidates, or to sway voters in a desired direction. The immense power that super PACs have to sway voters has come under harsh criticism, spurring the creation of new laws and limits on the super PACs in an attempt to keep them in check and to avoid possible corruption. These limits on super
I have interviewed all of the Departments employees in Cold Bay, all of them have backed up the allegations the City, and a private individual have brought up against Mr. Kremer. Can you provide me their actual statements? Concerns; 1- Hap is a bully to employees, public and the City of Cold Bay employees. Our employees supported he is a bully, gets very agitated if things are not done his way.
Bethel Park is a small town in Western Pennsylvania about 25 minutes outside the city of Pittsburgh. The community is tightly knit and work together to make the community a better place. Recently, the citizens of Bethel Park have had conflicted opinions about moving the local magistrate building from inside the police station in the town to its own separate building still within the district lines. The new building is just outside a neighborhood in the town. The people of the community are worried that the move will cause criminals to be brought into their neighborhood and could disrupt the peace that the neighborhood is used to.
A controversial issue in politics is campaign finance reform. Today’s political campaigns are largely funded by the wealthy elite in America and the corporations they own and fund. Currently, campaigns and campaign finances are government by the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The FEC is “the independent regulatory agency charged with administering and enforcing the federal campaign finance law. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency” (The FEC).
Interest groups in Texas are relatively powerful actors in the political process. Organized interest groups and their representatives, also known as “the lobby” participates in the policymaking and political processes in Texas. Interest groups provide critical channels for Texans to communicate their political preferences and attempt to influence government actors and their fellow
“California’s population is seventy times larger than Wyoming’s, but they have the same number of votes in the Senate.” This shows that representation issues are still being dealt with and are still of importance to this
Mayor McGuire brought the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and before starting official business, the pledge was said. First they approved the minutes and then moved to approving a new operator’s license but the applicant didn’t show up. The next items were discussion and action on temporary “Class B” licenses for St. Patrick’s Church Fall Festival, Mauston Lion’s Club Festival Foods 50th Anniversary, and Juneau County Agricultural Society’s JCAIRS barn dance. All were approved and they moved to the next item of business which was the citizen’s address to the
The whole goddamn city should be angry. We got a do-nothing mayor who’s beholden to the money interests. Probably can’t even name his department heads” (30). Harmond needs to be a mayor who can help his community, not like other mayors who take the money and didn’t do anything. He needs to offer long-term jobs for people so these people can invest back the wealth of their work in Pittsburg.
In other words , the Capitol wants the districts to know they are powerless, and that they have full control over everyone 's lives. “I want to do something, right here, right now, to shame them,to make them accountable, to show the Capitol whatever
