To me, essential factors like food, clothing, and shelter should not be a privilege but a foundation all humans deserve to have. With life of dignity, not only should individuals not have to care for basic necessities, but they should also be able to spend upon their interests for their social life and also able to have savings for the future. As a social work student, I have come to an understanding that poverty and homelessness is not a choice but is stem through uncontrollable circumstances that individuals experience; however, it is the government’s responsibility to take action. Racism and equality have something that has been going on for a long time now, dating back to all the way when Martin Luther King gave his “I have a dream” speech. The topic racism is something that needs to be changed; we do not need it in the world we live in right now with everything that has been going on. The major thing that is going on right now is the topic of how cops treat African Americans. We have seen many cases of the cops shooting and killing blacks the past few years, and it is something that is becoming a major issue.

Poverty is affecting billions of people around our world and the number is growing with each day. Many people think they can avoid the effects of poverty, but it is something that affects all of our daily lives. Many people see poverty as a person who lacks money, although this is true poverty is caused by many more things than being without money. Just the fact that one in two children live in poverty can help people see clearly the impact it has on our world. Poverty truly does influence the type of care and treatment a person will receive when they need it.

Imagine living on the streets and having to look for food, not knowing when your next meal was coming. What would you do? Where would you go? This is a daily existence for our clients!

Poverty and deprivation of many kinds is a very serious problem, not only in the United States, but also around the world. In a study in 2014, forty-seven million people living in the U.S. were considered to be in poverty; that is fifteen percent of its population . Poverty and deprivation is a serious topic that everyone should be aware of; if you are not aware of a problem,how are you going to fix it? You can find examples of this topic in almost every where; From books and movies to your everyday life. The most common known definition of poverty is economic poverty, but there is also social, emotional, and spiritual poverty and deprivation.

Poverty is one of the most horrific epidemics in our society today. Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. It is a very serious problem that many people suffer from today. Many issues such as illness, hunger, and bad sanitation are all causes of poverty. Statistics show that there are over 35 million Americans that live in poverty.

Okay look. I’m going to ask a question. Think hard and give a honest answer. How would it feel to know that you were frowned upon because of your skin color? Not cool, right?

Many people don’t get the chance to survive and live to have a horrible death. Many people here in the U.S. don’t think that survival is important in other countries. I believe that in order to have a better world, everyone needs to survive and that means ending world hunger. Do you know when your next meal could be the last? Eight hundred fifteen million people don’t have the food they need because they have no job, natural disaster has struck them or they live in very poor spots of the world.

Have you ever had to go to bed hungry because your parent or parents could not afford to feed you? If not, could you imagine yourself going to bed hungry? Unfortunately there are millions of people who do. According to Foodaid.org there are more than 795 million people in the world who do not have enough food to eat in order to enjoy a healthy life. If you do the math, that’s about 1 in 9 people global that deal with the issue of hunger.

By the end of my speech, 212 underprivileged children around the world would be clenching their stomach and wobbling from garbage dumps to garbage dumps, searching for half- eaten food. 5 children in India would leave school to work in a dilapidated undergarment factory for 14 straight hours, enduring whipping, and pain just for 3 bowls of rice. 3 children in Africa would be dead after being beheaded by heartless invaders. The power to change this situation lies with every one of you present today. Basic necessity such as food, basic education, security are few of many things that underprivileged children lack.

Poverty is defined as the state of being unable to fulfill basic needs of human beings. Poverty is the lack of resources leading to physical deprivation. Poor people are unable to fulfill basic survival needs such as food, clothing, shelter. These are the needs of lowest order and assume top priority. Poor people are unknown of their lack of voice, power, and rights, which leads them to exploitation.

Poverty in the simplest definition is the lack of household income or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money. Nowadays the poverty reduction became a major issue for the world many international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank. The World Bank estimated 1.29 billion people were living in absolute poverty in 2008. According to the World Bank definition, absolute poverty is a condition characterized by severe deprivation of basic human needs, including food, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, education and others. In our days there is the issue which is regarded to an international priority that says hunger and food insecurity are the most serious forms of absolute poverty
