I am excited about the opportunity to attend the Regis University Physical Therapy Program. I am especially interested in the clinical emphasis at Regis and the international clinical experiences. Additionally, I appreciate the emphasis on hands-on clinical education, manual therapy, and using research findings to improve the care of patients. I would enjoy attending PT school in Denver, but I also welcome the opportunity to gain clinical experience in both a rural setting, as well as at another site outside of Colorado. Growing up in Alaska exposed me to people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

As I completed the test that would help me in what career I should do I realized that Physical Therapist was perfect for me. Something interesting that I learned that a PT does is that they help individuals that have conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Something that caught my attention that the PTs do is that they help people, and I personally love helping people with any kind of problems. But something that disappointed me was the fact that people don’t get to move a certain part of their body is disappointing; like I want to be that spark in them that makes them believe they will move again. Everything seemed interested to me in the other hand though.

I will be assisting physical therapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures. I will have several different task to do as a physical therapist: monitor patient progress or responses to treatments, prepare medical instruments or equipment for use, prepare medical reports or documents,

“Ow! My knee! I think I need to go see a physical therapist.” This is an example of one of the many reasons people go to see a certified physical therapist. “Physical Therapists, sometimes called PTs, help injured or ill people improve their movement and manage their pain” (Bureau 1).

Physical Therapists are licensed health care professionals, they help patients with pain and help with mobility. They help people recover from surgery. Teach patients how to manage or prevent pain. They can work in hospitals, private practices, schools, sports, nursing home, and outpatient clinics. Physical therapist take care of people all different ages.

For example, upon seeing a new patient, a PT must create a treatment plan specifically designed to the patient to ensure one hundred percent recovery. In this plan, the PT must keep in mind short-term and long-term treatments that could change depending on how quickly the patient is recovering. A PT then proceeds to rehabilitate the patient through different forms of therapy including: massage therapy, electrotherapy, ultrasound, traction, and therapeutic exercise. During the patient’s therapy session a PT will document the patient’s progress to see if he or she must alter their plan of action. Typically most physical therapists work in private practice, also known as an outpatient clinic.

If you have ever injured yourself and had to go to physical therapy, a physical therapist is the person who would help you recover from the injury. In my senior year of high school, I took the opportunity to shadow at our local hospital to gain insight into different careers. During my first week, I observed a physical therapist and became highly intrigued. Excitedly, I shared my interest with my father, who had personal experience with physical therapy after tearing his ACL. However, I soon realized he had a negative perception of the profession, considering it "full of simple exercises" and a "waste of time. "

The education that a physical therapist goes through to receive licensure is all used in their day-to-day life on the job. By definition, physical therapy is the treatment of disease, injury or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat, and exercise rather than drugs or surgery. Furthermore, The job description of a physical therapist, or PT, involves many things such as interaction with patients, families, and other professionals. These people are all a part of the physical therapists attempt to improve the quality of life and movement in the patient.

I chose to do my career shadowing at the Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in New Carlisle IN, on November 20 2017. The person I shadowed was _____ she is a physical therapist. The reason I did my career shadowing there is because I have gone there before to have therapy on my knee so I knew the people there and I also really enjoy the career path of physical therapy. The reason physical therapy caught my attention and the real reason I want to be one is that it helps people with pain and weakness they may have and make them stronger and teach them ways to improve their overall being.

Physical Therapy Physical Therapy is an important step to take when trying to recover from an injury, it is a process that is better than personal training for any sport or competition. Instead of recovering by yourself and getting poor results on trying to improve, going to a physical therapist will give you a better result in a faster time. Personal training doesn 't focus on improving injuries but more on weight loss or muscle improvement. Going through physical therapy process will help in the process getting back to regular activities and helps the patient have help in getting motivated psychologically.
