Pojman’s argument against the objections to capital punishment is not completely valid. If we understand the human being, we can also understand that humans are spiteful people and many people are filled with the hopes of revenge. Therefore, the thirst of revenge could potentially be a contributing factor as to why people are for the death penalty. Even if Pojman doesn’t believe in revenge, it should not be a valid reason for him to ignore its potential in justice and decision making during trials. This world is already filled with bitterness towards one another and we, as a society, cannot stop it because we all have different morals. Even if murderers committed a crime, they are still human beings and they are innocent if proven guilty, so
In “Kill Capital Punishment” by Janine Espino a Reagan High school student argues that Capital Punishment should be abolished in all fifty states, Espino’s position is vaild. The author claims that killing another human cannot be taken back, one you murder a living individual you cannot take it back. The author argues that since manslaughter another individual in a malicious fashion is illegal so should capital punishment. Espino gives a quote by Peggy Parks in that was published in the article “Current Issues: The Death Penalty” published on 29 March.
Killing people is a horrible thing to do, even if they did thoughtlessly murder a whole family in the middle of the night. It makes you just as bad as a killer then they
A demon’s wings that is colored white is the most frightening of all. He who strongly believes that his ideal is just, right and for the good of the people; but in the eyes of so many people, what he does is inhumane and evil; thus comparable to a demon. Robespierre is someone that describes the earlier statements. He thinks his belief is right but the wrong aspect about this is he clings too much on that belief that he forgets reality. In reality, his contribution is terrorizing the people and tarnishing the values of the government.
Murderers are people who kill people and murders also are guilty. Murderers are usually always guilty. Murders sometimes get away with it if they don’t get caught and move to a different country or state to hide from the police and be around people you don’t know. Murders are usually caught. Murders are bad and there needs to be a stop.
Pojman uses the analogy if someone committed murder, they would be struck and killed instantly by lightning because by taking another life they forfeited theirs. I find that the following two points from Pojman provides a valid argument as of why we should have the death penalty. He states if we choose a policy of having the death penalty and “… we’re right, we have saved the lives of the innocent. If we are wrong, unfortunately, we’ve sacrificed the lives of some murderers.” (Pojman 144).
This concept is similar to stealing a candy bar from a convenient store then feeling guilty and the breaking and entering the same store when it is closed to put it back. Neither murder nor putting other to death is morally right. Understandably the fact of having cereal killers off this planet for good is no inconvenience for us but who are we to decide when another human is to die. This argument also refuses touch on the scenarios of war, self-defence, and abortion. These are all instances that can be considered murder and according to Primoratz murder is murder and that is an inexcusable offence.
Not Poorly Executed: Why the Death Penalty is Necessary The viewing glass is the only thing separating us from the man that killed my brother. The room is cold and silent as professionals began the operation. A combination of three chemicals enters his bloodstream, numbing the body and then stopping his heart.
The topic of capital punishment presents a test of values. The arguments in support of and opposition to the death penalty are complex. In the end, this is a question of an individual’s values and morals. The topic requires careful thought to reach a reasoned position. Both sides of the argument are defensible.
If someone murders another person they will go to prison and serve their time because they did something bad and the law caught up with them. There are laws and rules
Annotated Bibliography Draft Student name : Haider Zafaryab Student number: 2360526 Thesis Statement : Capital Punishment is a very controversial topic around the globe. I believe that it does more harm than good and breeds violence in society. Source 1: Radelet, M. L., & Akers, R. L. (1996).
Also, if society does not sentence an offender to death, they are an accomplice to that crime (Avaliani, 2004). Criminals that kill should suffer the same fate as their victims. The punishment should,
Apart from the fact that cathartic retribution is dubious justification for punishment, there seems little reason to believe that it is necessary to favor present modes of execution over the paradigm in order to prevent people from taking the law into their own hands. It can just as easily be argued that executions through cruel methods encourage public brutality and disrespect for the law. In the past, lynchings seemed to occur more often in states that employed the traditional modes of execution than in jurisdictions that had abolished capital punishment. Because a significant proportion of the public favors abolition of capital punishment, any execution could inspire public resentment of the legal system, particularly if the capital punishment were performed in an unnecessarily cruel
Why death penalty must end ‘’An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind,’’ said Mahatma Gandhi. The execution of someone who has possibly done a crime is an inhuman act. Death penalty is hypocritical and flawed. If killing is wrong, why do we kill when a criminal has done the crime of killing someone? In this essay, I will write why death penalty should end by writing about the violation of human rights, execution of innocent people, the fact that it does not deter crime and money.
More than 529 verified death row inmates have been exonerated since 1973. Justice may be carried out and in some cases that require a death sentence for a person who committed an atrocious crime. According to Holloway, “I have plenty of heartbreaking stories of clients who were convicted of crimes they did not commit.” If lawyers know of clients being convicted of crimes they did not commit, action should be taken, you should fight for the cases. Unlike prison sentences, execution, is irreversible and irreparable.
Lena Baker, a poor African American female, was put to death by an all white, rich male jury for the murder of Ernest Knight. Ernest was a white rich man who hired Lena to be his personal maid who unfortunately abused his power towards her. He enslaved her, even though slavery was and still is illegal. He was killed in the early 1940’s by Lena Baker. The jury overlooked these details towards race, wealth, and defense and sentenced her to death in 1945.
